It puzzles me with what PD are trying to do. 7 to 77year olds should grasp the game easily.
If a player scores high in racing etiquette, will they be able to join a room full of LMP cars?

Yes, real racers usually start from road cars to karts to production race cars or open wheelers to GT cars to Formula or Prototypes.
A GT Academy racer goes from virtual slow road car to sports car to super car to GT3 to LMP to real kart to buggy to Sports Car to Super Car to GT3 to Formula to LMP.

What of veteran players? I'm sure by now, most of us, that have played GT1-6, could jump straight into an LMP class room and do well once we grasp the physics. No real need to start from the bottom with a Nissan Leaf, per se. This is where PD need to be careful how the game flows.

So GTS may get VR treatment?

Near as confirmed as far as I can tell.
Though we've heard little mention of it from Kaz/PD for a while. I'm guessing if it does appear, it will be patched in some time after launch... How long after is anybody's guess!

Mildly related to this, and having not played iRacing or similar, or much online stuff, even though I've been playing racing games for years, I have no real idea of how good I am. So this driver rating system in GTS will be real interesting for me.

The structure is important, because no matter what you tell it, the game will still need you to prove you're good. I'm a veteran of sorts too, but GTS won't know that, so I'm guessing we'll all have to jump through some hoops. I'm hoping if the system works well, you'll reach your equivalent-talent level pretty quickly.

Also, in general, we shouldn't worry about the 7-77 age range thing too much. Kids are not by default crap, just as adults are not by default good. They're just saying that the game allows anyone to get into, and get better at, proper motorsport if they want to, not that they're dumbing the game down to Mario Kart levels for the kiddies.

Again just a guess but I'd expect the different levels are tied to your progress in the Campaign Mode, you'll probably need to get your digital FIA license to race Gr.1 and get the others at different stages of progress.

It should have been clear a long, long time ago that PD don't care about veteran players and letting them jump ahead in their games, in fact it even proudly states on the website:

Everyone starts as a beginner in “Sport Mode”.

You're a beginner at the start of the game who doesn't know how to drive a car. That has always been their approach. I don't see it changing, unfortunately.

My grandson is 7 years old and I'm 65. We do very well in Seasonal and Quick Match. So you're right.

Interesting that whilst they've updated the cars page on the website and a few others they've still not touched the tracks page, it still says 19 locations and the dirt track is still shown with old screens and no name. Are they going to wait until the last minute to update it to only be 15, as he showed/said in China?

Where on the car pages it's updated? I didn't see anything new.

The link is a little off-topic, but this VR Driveclub assessment by Digital Foundry gives me more hope for GTS being able to do something cool with VR too...

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-hands-on-with-driveclub-vr

The VR racing experience is better than all other PC attempts, apparently. That's some statement, considering the cost of a good VR PC and the associated VR kit.
This line had me a little worried.

Then we look out across the track - yes, the fidelity of the PSVR headset is certainly a step down from the Rift or Vive, but it quickly shoots to the back of your mind once you hit the accelerator.

The visual fidelity of the track using my Vive in PCars and Assetto Corsa is already at the limit of what is practical to use, so if it's a step down in PSVR then I'm not sure what that would be like. Still excited as hell by it though!

I think if Polyphony doesn't bring back the original tracks, and/or reintroduce the hundreds of various cars. That might indicate they are planning another game to be released, perhaps a more full featured Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo Sport seems to me like a specialty version of Gran Turismo as it has mainly race cars and currently limited tracks. I would love if Polyphony brought back a revamped, robust offline career mode, 500+ cars including slow ones ranging from a Dodge Ram to the Dodge Viper, and the little things such as tune shop etc.

Gran Turismo Sport looks like an amazing racing game, especially in graphics and physics. Personally, I would probably miss the experience of buy a cheap car like a Nissan Silvia, and progressing through the races. That is what made me love the Gran Turismo Series.

Yeah I think in general it's a super positive impression though.

And everyone goes on about how AC is so impressive being made by 12 people.
But Evolution have proved that you can do brilliant things with no staff at all ;)

From the people who played GT, some say the physics are like Assetto´s and others say they are not too different from GT6. Definetly has to be improvement based on many opinions from first hand. But definetly im gonna wait to play it to judge it.

My intuition tells me GT in physics is going to be near PCars, most likely below it. But very close.

PoDi must use foundation of GT6's engine physic.

There is no "revolution" but there are big improvements, we notice them after several laps.

Hopefully we aren't in the dark for much longer about the way the game is played. I definitely don't want it to be the same formula as all the previous games - this game is the perfect opportunity to change up how we play, not just what we play.

Totally agree. I really like the new direction taken by PoDi, I hope that this new formula will work well !

GT6 is old game now on a PS3. But still has one of the best if not the best skid marks, smoke affect:

People will always complain about aliasing and stuff but TBH Polyphony are proficient in gfx

But when they show us that on GT Sport it @s allot!

Actually i think they should had invent a program to detect which GT our PSN ID had play and the license and driver level inside, thus making us the more experienced driver can skipped all those entry level test.( but not driving etiquette test, we all know a driver's behavior when driving is not relevant to the license test, one may had super license but still drive like NFS)

Like the GT6 community page, it obviously showed how long we been playing in GT6 and how far we traveled with trophy and star and licenses all sorts of thing. surely they can make use of that data. Its all stored in side PSN's server right ?

Forza has something similar to this. The Rewards program works off your game history for every Forza title from FM2 onward, keeping track of achievements as well as in-game stats like cars owned, miles driven, etc.

So long as the data is stored server-side, there's no reason PD couldn't do something similar. While the Forza program is predominantly used for bonuses, a PD one could easily function as a sort of license program on its own, giving experienced drivers the option to bypass certain things.

It wouldn't even be the first time PD has offered a perk for those that have played previous games: IIRC, the PS2 era saw bonuses for players if their memory card had a save from older titles.

Exactly , i dont supposed any of the experienced driver here wanna spent time doing cone slalom every single time we purchase a new GT right?

But i would emphasize once again, if the implementation of driving etiquette test is good, i would like it not to be excluded if the above system is carry out, some experienced GT players still drive like 🤬 and we all should take the test. Talk about quick match in GT6 :P

You know, since this morning, I started to have strong feelings about GTS getting featured on the PS event at NY in 2 weeks... I know it's too soon, but PD really has to show the VR and how it would look on the NEO! :ouch:

It's very possible it'll be one of the games used to showcase the Neo, I doubt we'll see it in VR though. With Driveclub VR already announced for release this year I have a feeling GTS VR will be patched in later next year. I can't see them trying to promote two driving games with VR at the same time.

Do you really think that would affect its release though? Would sony really delay GTS's VR just because another racing games VR will be coming out, especially when that game is two years old?

I very much took advantage of the bonus $100,000 that GT4 provided as a result of having GT3 data. I can definitely see this happening in a similar way through online bonuses as demonstrated by the Forza rewards program. It would please me!

No, I think GTS VR isn't ready. If it was DC VR likely wouldn't release at the same time.

In the defence of GT, Poly tries to make the whole game VR compatible and not only a special mode. But yep, GTS VR won't be ready on November or you'll need a PS4 Neo to have a decent experience.

I think it would be a consideration.
The other side of the coin of course would be having 2 top tier games VR compatible to help sales of the VR unit.

But I too doubt that GTS will be VR ready day 1.

Ahh fair enough. Yeah I've gotta say I'm not too confident on that either.

I honestly couldn't care less about GTS VR, won't be able to afford a headset anyway. However, there is no way the game will be VR compatible for the initial release - may not be ready for a number of months, if not a year or so. I personally don't think it's worth the effort...
