Over 25 000 posts on this thread now.

I still maintain the notion that GTS needs Vaporwave especially for the older 90s cars (If they even make it into the game).

Stay classy peeps. Bah bye.

Let's be honest, the days of being able to pick up a relatively large AAA title blind are gone. There's just too many horror stories that mean being informed up until release is key when buying a game.

Comparisons to the rosy pre-patch based generations is fair enough if you ignore just how many AAA releases are botched on a frequent basis.

Agree 100%. The way console gaming has been the last two generations, with the need for constant patches, and the way devs get away with not even fixing half the problems in their games before releasing a sequel, the days of true plug 'n play consoles are long gone. This is why I've bought my 4 (almost 5) year old son a used PS2 for Christmas. I could have gotten him a PS3 for the same price, but there'd just be too much hassle involved compared to a PS2. I got one in excellent condition, in it's box, with everything that came with it new, including the demo disc (kinda got a bit nostalgic for the old demo discs when I saw it lol). I even picked up ten games dirt cheap, all in great condition, including classics like GT4 and Race Driver 3 (titled V8 Supercars over here). I remember how much I loved the PS2, and I know he's gonna go ballistic when he sees it.

The way consoles have just become weak mini PCs, with their need for constant online updates, game patches, and now the horrors that are paid DLC, micro transactions, and season passes, is a bit depressing for someone who grew up with all the old plug 'n play consoles. I just don't see the point of consoles anymore. They offer literally no benefits over PCs now, whilst PCs still offer tons of benefits over consoles. This gen will be my last console gen. Definitely going PC by next gen.

Currently online players (Battlefield 1)

PC: 36,250 (24h peak: 74,042)
XBOXONE: 132,565 (24h peak: 132,565)
PS4: 133,426 (24h peak: 184,280)

265.000 in the consoles against 36.000 on PC...This gen of consoles still strong.

That has nothing to do with what I said about consoles to be fair. I don't care about how many people play games online on any system, as it's not something I get into anymore. I simply don't have the time for that. I'm switching to PC because the games are better in every measurable way. Consoles have lost all of the benefits they used to have over PC in the last two generations. These days, even the console exclusives are few and far between, and nothing special when compared to the gigantic amount of amazing games that are PC exclusive. I also wouldn't have to worry about my wheel being made incompatible overnight with PC, the way it has been on PS4, and if I did want to have a go at playing online on any game in the future, I wouldn't have to pay a subscription to do so.

Lastly, number of players online in one game like that is only indicative of number of sales per system, and popularity has never had any correlation with quality IMO. There was always a lot more players online in Pcars on console than on PC back when it was a few months old, but nobody in their right mind would try to argue the PC version was the worst. It was, and is, in another league to the console versions.

Yes, the landscape has most definitely changed and devs have no choice but to give the consumer the necessary info so they can make an informed choice, I totally understand that. People don't take a lucky dip anymore.

Some people do, but I think that it's so common in the games industry for developers and publishers to push out a turd that you have to be really confident. I would buy a CD Projekt Red game sight unseen, or a Naughty Dog game. I would seriously consider buying a Rockstar game sight unseen.

That's probably about it, for me. Even with devs that I like, like Blizzard or Turn 10/Playground, I'd prefer to see at least some of what they have to offer first. If it looks really awesome and I don't want to spoil it for myself then I'll stop watching and just buy, but I'll always prefer to have that first look.

I agree, but what is there to a WoW expansion you need to stop and see first? You already know "the next expansion boosts my lvl to xx and features xx new dungeons and items". Seems like a nobrainer to get it no matter what, to keep up with the rest. Not that I'm a WoW guy. Far from it. Just stating the obvious.

There are plenty of games like this. You would know something without even watching anything. And it's enough to get it going to the point you buy it no matter what, because you like it / you feel it's a must have.

I apologize, but may we draw back more on topic? Didn't expect to see a tangent as big as WoW and Battlefield 1 being talked about here.

Well, in order to know that "it boosts my level to xx", and "Features new dungeons and items" you'd actually have to have looked up information about it at some point or another. It's what you'd expect to happen, but expectations don't always come to fruition, so that's why it would be unwise. That's far from a no brainer. In my case, it's the way I'll approach every expansion or game.

Forza releases Porsche expansions, sounds exciting right? I'm not so sure I'd agree as most of it has been rehashed for multiple games now with little new brought in, so I'd definitely like to know what is actually showing up this time around, rather than buying it outright.

Sure, but I'd guess a lot of fellow players / raid mates talk about the upcoming expansion, be it in the chat or teamspeak. They kinda reveil the content for you. Sure if you wish to read/see it for yourself, you'd look it up. But most players would spoil it before you even knew if you're not 100% up to date at all times.

That is still a form of acquiring information about the game. You're still not going in blind, which this conversation seems to be about.

@ImaRobot True. but it isn't info you yourself acquired though.
Yet you'd still have some knowledge about the game, regardless of how you came by it. What seems to be going on here is buying a game off a whim with no information to back your choice. It's not really the same thing. It's not all to often considering the age we're in, but there are many people that just up and shop just because they're there, not because they have a specific product in mind.

Although I see a lot of games when I go pick one up, I'll still usually have more of a pull towards one I actually know something about. All to often have I learned the hard way of buying something with out knowing much about it. Although I do subject myself with Beer and Food often, so I guess it just depends on the product

You didn't expect to see other games being discussed in the 830+ page long thread about a game that we know so little about, all the info about it would fit in a medium sized post? I thought that ship had sailed hundreds of pages ago

Maybe this will stop happening when PD actually give us some info to discuss, other than what we've known for months already.

Tangents or nothing. Those are the only options for this thread for the last few months.

Also I notice on that PS Blog article, not one person comments about GT. It's a trend I've noticed elsewhere when gamers are discussing their most wanted games, PD are going to have to really ramp up the PR when they start promoting this game again because right now people don't seem to care.

I just thought of a livery I'd like to recreate when GTS comes out.

Would anyone care to guess? This is the livery thumbnail as seen in GT4.* The car is European.

*don't hate the poor drawing. Hahahah

Anyone remember that GT Sport direct footage video that Jordan (him or...?) uploaded with the Ferrari GT3 couple months ago and then got taken down by Sony and PD? Well it seems that someone else went and re uploaded it again. Not that matters since it's an old build and some things changed since then but i just liked to mention it.

By the way, no more direct footage from Poly? Five months since the last video.

Experience the most photo-realistic graphics in Gran Turismo history along side the vastly improved sounds in this movie. And please look forward to even further evolution in more upcoming prototype movies to come.

Do you think it could mean AMG GT3 in GTsport? (Or the old SLS GT3 model...)
