Sorry for being a noob, but can anyone kindly explain how VGT works?
Is it a
1. collaboration between PD and manufacturers or
2. PD picks the car to be entered into the game or
3. manufacturer pays $ to gain access into the game or
4. something else? for e.g. combination of above? or?

I believe he's reffering to things like Grip, Contact patch, traction etc.

I'm of the impression what he is saying is that the dynamic features like that involve a lot of work in making the physics account for the changes those bring.
Oh yeah, that is quite true, I didn't see it like that...

They could have modelled a premium Toyota Supra, but no, this is clearly more important.

I see the record is still broken when it comes to the VGTs.

Funny how every time I hear anything new about this game I just dislike it more and more. Not bad for a franchise that was once the only reason I needed to buy a console. I wonder if I'm going to see anything new that I actually do like. At all.:ouch:

I'm honestly surprised with that feeling, you still haven't given up. What even keeps you coming back?

I don't think they purposely put out a bogus date, I think they probably agreed to a launch alongside the Pro, foolishly thought they could do it, then quickly realised they really couldn't.
Ah, I'm with you now.
You did say that but somehow I read something different, sorry.

It's certainly a very plausible scenario, agreed. 👍

Because I keep hoping that it will become a game I'd like to buy.

What's not to like?

Damn.
As much as I want to, I can't force myself to leave it at.
I'll just add that a certain Albert Einstein quote comes to mind.

My apologies for my insolence.

 okay. Let's have a think.
Mobile chicane AI, online esport PvP focus, ridiculously high percentage of fake/concept/VGT cars and possibly the arrival of such epic non multiplayer time attack places like pikes peak you mean?

Oh. It's got Gran Turismo written on the box. Nevermind then.

Nice work. :sly:

I re-installed Dirt 3 ( a game from 2011) since I got the Complete Edition for free (PC version) and wanted to check those events and cars...and also of course after the announcement of Dirt 4 I wanted to remember how the game was, etc.

But for real, after a couple of hours and when I was about to end that session I asked to myself..."What in the world is a company like Polyphony Digital doing with the sounds in their game with all the budget they probably have to make each consecutive game in the saga?"
After listening to the cars in Dirt 3 (or 2...or even the first game!, or Dirt Rally as well) I still can't believe that Polyphony fails so miserably at making car engines to sound just as their real counterparts. I just can't believe it, something that other companies are doing right for years, included arcade like games such as the Need For Speed saga.

Graphically speaking the game looks lovely I must say, but let's see if its features and content are more than good enough at release.

Dirt 3 is a pretty good game. I feel like going and playing it some myself. Brb...

Wow, people are using the GTP footage from nine months ago (shorn of the pre-roll, of course), and passing it off as PS4 Pro footage?

@XXI - Do not triple-post, that's what the Edit button is for.
Does that surprise you? Those are YouTube videos. Don't know if you've ever seen any GTA YouTubers, but let's just say there are more than a few people on YT who will outright lie in the video's title and thumbnail in order to get views.

Yes, I saw it just came up on YouTube and wanted to share.

Sorry for the triple post.

That first vid right there, the Nations Cup challenge Final, featuring some of the game's top drivers racing was very interesting to watch, especially with the commentary. Cheers.
For me i found it really disappointing, less a great advertisement for esports then a circus bumper car ride.

I enjoyed it as well.
I also liked the others, specifically watching them go through the settings.
Gives an idea of available options and how they're laid out.

Short whinge. :sly:

Still no recognition of the new VGT on the official website.
I acknowledge the Facebook post, but I struggle to believe an update of gran-turismo.com is that difficult that nothing can be arranged in this time frame.

And don't get me started about the horribly under-utilised blog. :irked:
All these events around the world, great opportunities to drop little snippets of info., and yet nothing.

C'mon PD.
Show the people taking keen interest in your product that you're just as keen to keep us engaged. 👍

Any word about sharing set ups? We can supposedly share liveries. Wonder if we can share car set ups.
