According to this article, the FIA considers that GTSport is too arcade for an official FIA eSport championship. They want Poly to include a "sim" mode for the FIA races, and could explain in part the delay.
That would be a huge problem fro PD to overcome. However, it's just a rumour and although it claims a source close to the FIA we have no idea if it's true or not.

There have been a few discussions here about FIA involvement with some saying it's just a licensing situation to line the FIA pockets but I always thought it was more than that so this could have some traction.

No offcial sources on that, just the site ones (the site has been opened very recently, so its fidelity has to be tested).

If it is true, it's a facepalm in so many areas... First of all, FIA acting like braindead monkeys again: how possibly they didn't see that coming? The game has never performed realistic damage or driving (not enough realistic driving at least).

If there is some kind of contract where FIA can reject the game if it doesn't perform like they want, then part of the guilt goes to Poly, agreeing something they have never done (sim physics or damage).

Still, again, the truthfulness of the site has to be proved. Maybe it's just a rumour and it's very far from the truth. We'll see.

At first, the FIA was interested by GT as the biggest racing game licence. But the ridiculous collisions or the far too forgiving engine (grass, curbs, track limits...) can't be supported by the FIA. I don't think the FIA expects a hardcore sim like AC or rFactor, however there are some requirements if you give a licence for race track.

There is always a way to get the hang of this. If FIA pulled their sponsorship from GT it doesn't matter imo. Instead, PD have another opportunity to increase, refined and added lot of content than GTS have now and we may get ourselves a good old GT sooner than we expected. Also, we may see our beloved Career Mode once again. Still, most people may get concern if FIA pulled away from sponsoring GTS, considering some people might lose their interest by the loss of prestigious license and e Sports factor but I think it is not a dead end as what I said above.

Hopefully, it is just a rumour, since GT still promoting FIA sponsorship in their official GTS web, looks like things are still going well so far. Would be different if PD secretly updated their GTS website and the whole FIA related information are suddenly disappear, that would be a ringer.

It's not a win at any cost culture. It's playing the game with the rules that you are provided. If the rules allow you to cut corners, then you're a moron if you don't cut corners and you're always going to lose to people who are use the rules to their full advantage.
I'm not talking about a little kerb riding, I'm talking about cutting half the track off like at Willow.

I think the point still stands. The vast majority of us know it's unacceptable yet the current rules of the game allow you to do it. It's upto PD to change the rules.

reading @sems4arsenal comment in the trailers/video/screens thread...: i had a very good ping just yesterday. the last couple of days/weeks it was around 110. yesterdays ping was at 12! :)
had a few buddies that reported the same!

edit: and i got my first win at brands hatch! very proud i am! :D had some more races last night and some great fun. there are actually E-rated users that drive carefully and try to be fair and competitive! loved it!

ill upload the winning video later tonight... just so proud!!! :D

@PRO_TOO But were cars lagging/warping even more than usual or is that fixed as well?
in rare moments they were dancing all over the floor...! but nothing worse than before... i would say its the same, maybe a little better. mostly it looked like that warping thing.

btw: i dont like that grain filter in loading screens, someone here mentioned before!! thing is: it pops right into your eyes when you load up your first online match... and now i cant "unsee" it anymore! :boggled:

I upgraded to a PS4 Pro and one of the first differences I noticed was that grain effect was gone. The seated driver is sharp and the car is slightly out of focus.

That sounds like an entirely made up article to generate clicks. Do they provide any sort of source for these claims?

If the site is connected to existing leagues one must take in to consideratio that they might have an agenda of their own behind this rumour.

Then again could be true and explain the delay. Go figure..

Maybe all the cerbs and track sides should be as unforgiving as parts of Willow are.

i'm on ps4 pro since release. i guess it wasnt happening in older beta versions... but i could be wrong!
sometimes when the game searches for players to group (the screen you mentioned (where the driver is sitting left of the car)), it switches to "non-grain" for a milli-sec... strange.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. Everybody has a mirror in their house it's up to you to use it or not.

The pre race loading screen with your driver sitting behind your car is brilliant. Looks like real life. Would love to see that expanded to let us have the camera show more of the garage space.
and there are soooo many more possibilities to make the game more life like, more real, atmosphere wise...
as the marshalls are animated, think of them walking around in the background of the loading screen you were talking about. or engineers repairing stuff... just basic simple animations... let something happen on the screen as we wait!!
or let a car pass in the background... or let a tire roll away in the box... ;)

Anonymous "sources" of course so it's about worth the paper it's written on:dopey:. If it were true it puts Kaz in quite a dilemma. Move more towards simulation which might require a lot of code rewriting and moving the game away from it's base, or risk the FIA cert upon which the game is based.

Had a couple of good races last night. Selected myself out of one- just couldn't keep it on the track. I have a short list of players I'm happy to see on the grid, but sadly, a much longer list of "crap, not him again" players. I'm not perfect, but I promise if I did hit you, I was trying like hell not to. What's the story on SR, anyway? I went from A to S after a bunch of "blue" events. I guess that's better? Still carrying the flag for "D" pace old guys...
One thing that would improve races is better mirrors in EVERY car. I've been running the RS.01 a lot, and the mirrors are not visible in the default FOV. The radar helps, but it's not perfect.

i was so happy to have some races last night where there were no crash "kiddies". at least i did not have to handle them as i started pretty much in front of the grid (pole and 3rd, 2nd). i had some good battles for pos. 3, leaving a huge gap between the top 3 and the rest. must be because im still at lvl E.
i had a few bumps here and there but nothing i would consider an attack to ram my car off track. the last race went so well, still with E lvl players, me and the other guy were actually giving space to each other! really clean driving (as good as we novice players could manage), not always pushing, waiting for the opportunity to overtake, not blocking... its really a lot of fun if you race with some users that habe the same in mind!
i love when there is a corner and i go slow inside and the other passes my outside and i do vice versa in the next corner! in this situations i feel like a little racing pro! :D

People are different in that way. Some enjoy winning some enjoy competing. I'll happily let someone win by cheat - i can enjoy racing in 10th place. Thats why im not even using the fastest car always.

Its the old cliche - its not about the destination it all about the journey there..

Maybe cheaters are also a big customer group, and PDI is just taking them in consideratio..

You are familiar with the concept of fair game? ;)👍

I think this can also be affiliated to SR. I have had plenty of races where i gain SR for finishing clean close to the end of the pack.

I think you either haven't bothered to read what I wrote or you've grossly misunderstood it.

Besides, the game is not unfair. Everyone has the same opportunity.

I'm not talking about a little kerb riding, I'm talking about cutting half the track off like at Willow.

I'm well aware. My point still stands. If stuff like that is in a competition and is not disallowed, then it's expected to be used.

I'm not arguing that it makes it a good game. IMO Polyphony should and almost certainly will change it. But I am saying that as long as it's part of the game there's no point whining about it not being "fair". It's totally fair. If you just want to play for fun, great, do whatever you want. If you want to compete, then you use whatever tools are allowed. If that includes cutting half the track off, then you'll either have to learn to deal with that or go to another game.

Everyone has the same opportunity, you just don't like some of the tools that you have to use to compete. Welcome to competitive sports, where the entire point is to do whatever you can to give yourself a competitive edge and win. If you're not using a legal tactic because of some self-imposed idea of "fairness", then the technical term that the FGC attaches to those people is "scrub", those people that never win but always maintain that they could if only others would stop doing all that stuff that beats them.

Yeah, I agree with you. Wish it is animated though with pit crews doing check and prepare the car ready for race. That would be nice.

Edit : @sems4arsenal I think this is what you want right?

But what I want to know is, who is sitting in the car pressing the brakes?

Translator-san, obviously.

Nah, probably B-Spec Bob checking if the brakes work. Translator-san in the other hand is working for team radio as we seen his appearance in Blue Moon Bay (he is "translator" btw, so it would match if he communicate with the driver imo )

I dunno, the drivers feet going through the floor makes me twitch every time that screen is up. It's a tiny detail that has no real effect on the game, I know. But because I'm stuck staring at the screen, it's like the FedEx arrow — impossible to un-see.
