FM6 has the "Sega Rally" effect (works also with Ridge Racer), the same cool animations that you see at each lap like a plane landing. But all in all, it makes the track so much more alive. I have never seen a helicopter or a fan waving a flag in the last GTs.

Reminds me of the GT blimp on Trial Mountain. Those small little liveliness details make the game so much more alive.

So even the Pro can't maintain a solid 60 fps? That bodes well.

I mean, I know the game drops frames a fair amount on the base PS4 — mostly noticeable at Adenauer Forst and Druids in races, especially if there's any particle effects in play — but I expected a rock-solid showing on the Pro.
I also expected an improvement in the graphical quality come release so unless they have got a decent amount of optimisation still to do I'm not sure that is going to happen.

The Genesis is still a good car. I have a GTR, and hardly use it, just because there's so many out there. I don't care if I win or not, the racing is the fun part.

I know, I've played the game. That's the thing though, the extra animations honestly don't make FM6 feel not that much more lively than any of the gameplay footage I've seen in GT Sport.

I think you're in a minority there. I think most people find the stuff going on around the tracks in FM6 to add a lot to the atmosphere. Having the racetrack surrounded by spectator trucks and cars, tents, flags, bonfires, and all the other stuff that a real driver might see alongside the track really adds a surprising amount in my opinion.

Example: even though the lighting and spray are nowhere near what GTS would achieve, the feeling of being at an actual race is so much stronger than if the track surrounds were just empty.

Not really sure the casual player knows that..
The audience for this game is likely going to be racing/motorsport fans in the majority and I'm guessing they know something about running over curbs and what cars look like after they've hit a wall at 200 km/h.

I don't know what happened, but somehow yesterday when loading up the game my SR was sitting at B when the last time I'd signed off I'd left it at D - has there been an adjustment recently or is this something happening to other people?

I was in a race the other night with nearly all DR=E and SR=B, one I spoke to had only done 3 or so races. Something must have happened... maybe Wednesday/Thursday (EU)? I was B anyway, so no change for me, but races seemed a lot rougher at the end of the week.

and I think you're right. I'm used to it anyway.

Well, I can't really deny that; that makes sense as those are things that should be there. However, FM6 still honestly hasn't given me a lively vibe much more than the GTS beta footage. Honestly other than Prague, Rio, or Yas Marina; a lot of the tracks in FM6 have still felt empty to me at times when racing. The color tones used on these courses give me a lifeless vibe, but the traits you mentioned make up for that feeling. Of course, that might be because I'm weird.

Anyway, since I'm in the minority; I won't deny that it's a problem if those things aren't featured in GT Sport.

Is anyone getting a little concerned that it's nearly June and we still don't even have a release date yet?

Not really. For me the assumption is that it's either going to be November/December or next year. At this point they're going to be going head to head with FM7 and pCARS2 pretty much regardless, so they might as well take the extra time. Releasing during the holiday season potentially gives them an edge as being the "newest" of the three when it comes time for Christmas gifts.

If they don't make it this holiday season then it's a bust as far as I'm concerned. As we saw with GT5, at some point longer development time actually means a worse game because they're almost certainly deviating from the original design and reworking things.

Surprisingly I actually managed to raise my SR pretty quick, but by about my third run races started getting really hit and miss. I got rammed into wall and bounced pit lane on lap 6 on my second (otherwise clean and fun) run of Blue Moon (which was an entirely SR-B-rated race). I stayed back and kept my self running good and clean in Gr. 4 Nurburgring and got myself to climb into in the SR-A crowd, but Dragon Trail was a complete :censored:show. From having to sit through a hefty amount SR-D matches in the past week I'd grown accustomed to having people fly up the inside of a corner and ride the outer car(s) for steering assistance, but I swear a couple runs like half of the field couldn't even keep their cars in a straight line. In one race I think I counted about seven or eight spins in just the first lap. All of this was happening in a mostly SR-A field. It looks like @GumballCGT was in this one, though I don't know what sort of perspective he had since he had the whole field beat by 11+ seconds. I've made a habit of capturing all my races so I'll see about uploading it in the photo/video forum if you're interested.

In general since 1.05 I've been seeing weird mixes of SRs and DRs, just today I had couple races with matches ranging from DR E-B. Outside of a couple outliers races have seemed to have balanced player matches in terms of lap times, but I'd thought DR was supposed to represent the pace of the driver so I've kind of been at a loss with the system lately. Maybe it's starting to match players based on their average lap times per-track?

So even the Pro can't maintain a solid 60 fps?

If you use 4k output. 1080p output will be most likely without any drops, unfortunately DF didn't test it in their video.

PS4 Pro: 1800p checkerboarding on a 4K display & 1080p on a fhd display. Shame there is no supersampling from 1800p to 1080p. Hopefully it will be in the final game.

Yes, but I would like it as an option, user selected. 1080p rendering will have more solid performance, which may be preferable for some.

Hmmm i think we here at E3 that is coming august or september. I dont think ita wise to release in the same time as PC2. And where playing a beta so i dont think we have to wait till next year.

Gamers/fans whant this game already waiting to long will lose intersest for allot of gamers because of the release of other good games. But hey its still Poly so i think we dont know till its there in your Ps4 haha

We're playing a beta but it's been a pretty long beta already. And we can all see stuff that still could do with some work. I figure at minimum it won't release until a couple of months after they finish the beta. Even if they do announce the date at E3 in June (or God forbid, TGS in September) they'll still give themselves a couple of months of marketing so August/September would be the absolute earliest.

It's probably not terribly wise to release at the same time as either PC2 or FM7, but it's not a choice any more. GTS is going to release within a few months of both of them unless PC2 or GTS get major delays. Forza releases regular as clockwork.

I think that sort of like GT6, they've painted themselves into a terrible position where they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I still think it`s going to be a november/december release, I hope I am wrong though, Its like it`s a year behind, from what they said last year, early in the year beta, then a november release, but that never happened, but this year it is...

It's simple : the longer we wait, the higher expactations are. So after three years of development, when I see Poly shows Dragon Trail to the media with lots of features off like skidmark in order to save RAM, I'm a little bit surprised.
Common sense, it's supposed to wow the audience and gameplay wise, IMO I see nothing especially impressive with GTSport. (replays are out of this world)

From what I've seen, I'm actually quite impressed.

There's no doubt it's still.GT game, but personally I like that it is, warts and all.
It seems to me the physics have improved.
Sound has improved.
Graphics have improved.
And if I compare Sports Mode races to GT6 Quickmatch events, the majority of what I've seen is also a major improvement.

Sure, there are some failings, and things that need improving and tweaked.
But regarding showcasing the game through a limited beta test, it's largely looking fairly positive to me.

Weird matching is PD's speciality! But a combination of DR 'E' and SR 'B' would have been pretty hard to achieve before - most drivers go up to DR D almost immediately. I had a full field bar 2 with that combination in one race, and been seeing them for at least the later half of the week (along with DR 'D' and SR 'B' combos). Like PD reset anyone below SR B to B, and that's the new starting level. So even though SR was pretty useless before, it's even more so now!

Is anyone getting a little concerned that it's nearly June and we still don't even have a release date yet?
Concerned? As in, worried? Nah...there is no reason to. PD is a big player and they're ironing out some last minute details. Dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Your game is coming... 👍

So if the theory that PD had to remodel the same cars again for GTS is right then all this also had to be remodeled.

I wouldn't do it given the nature of the game. I would get as many real race cars as possible and leave out the concept cars but hey, maybe they will surprise us on release.

Maybe these cars help selling the game to 8-12 year old kids ? I mean they do for the most part look like toys.

I thought the same. We are also didn't see the rest of VGT in the beta (the Gr.1 and Gr. B VGT's still not available for the beta yet) and others that is not shown at all since GTS launch event at Copperbox such as Nissan 2020, Mercedes VGT, BMW, Infiniti, Chaparral 2X, Subaru, Mitsubishi, etc. There are also VGT cars on the waiting list to release like Nike VGT, Zagato, Alfa, Lambo, Honda, etc
