I dunno, the drivers feet going through the floor makes me twitch every time that screen is up. It's a tiny detail that has no real effect on the game, I know. But because I'm stuck staring at the screen, it's like the FedEx arrow — impossible to un-see.
Also the bottom i going through the floor i believe :D

Maybe the pic was made with Scapes? The background is taken from real high resolution photograph but the car and driver avatar are generated 3D model from the game?

i thought so too... at first. but then i remembered my old racing shoes... they had this "curved" heel.
but then again... on the loading screen, its a shame the driver have to wear only one of these racing shoes! :D ;)

Yeah, I agree with you. Wish it is animated though with pit crews doing check and prepare the car ready for race. That would be nice.

Edit : @sems4arsenal I think this is what you want right?

GT5 Prologue had it too when you play the Arcade Mode:

Wish if they had more of those "real time" renders in the main menu and pre race just like those GT5 and GT5P. GT Sport currently does have one in the menu but would like to see more.

Offtopic but am i the only one who thinks GT games tend to age better than plenty of other games in term of graphics? GT5 and GT6 still looks good IMO especially in the Dealership gallary (GT5) or on the race track during the sunset/sun rise.

I think so, but the aliasing can be off-putting. There are games that might have it worse and still have to consider GT is meant to look the best, not just the most realistic.

I'm enjoying the beta so far and look forward to the release. My only real gripe is the lack of camera angles. All I want is a camera that is on the hood, in center, about here the windshield meets the hood. I can't remember the proper name (bonnet cam?) the roof cam is to high and the bumper cam shaking so much gives me vertigo. I'm picky I know.

Edit. This is what I'm talking about

I find the question of "realism" in eSports interesting for GTS.

When you look at what games top the list for the world's largest eSport events, realism doesn't seem to be a factor at all.
Ultimately it's simply who plays the game the best, whatever the game is.
So it's perhaps questionable whether top level physics simulation is actually a pre-requisite.

Should there be any difference because this is a driving game?
Or does the involvement of the FIA and their overseeing of the championships mean it should be?

I can see the arguments why some say it should, but I'm not convinced it's necessarily a deal breaker either.

The top eSports games aren't simulations. DOTA and League of Legends aren't in the same genre. This is supposed to be a driving/racing simulation. It doesn't need "top level" physics simulation but it should be at least convincing to the casual viewer IMO. To me that's mainly in the visual. Viewers may not know much about tuning or tire selection or any of the ins and outs but they know what a car looks like after it's run into a barrier and they know that cars can't fly over curbs and off track at 200+ km/h without a significant effect on the car. They also know generally what cars look like going around a track at speed and GT has that part down pretty good. The physics, as basic as they are at this point, are probably good enough for eSports but where they fall short is is the visual representation on the track. At times it looks like an arcade racer.

PS4 Pro: 1800p checkerboarding on a 4K display & 1080p on a fhd display. Shame there is no supersampling from 1800p to 1080p. Hopefully it will be in the final game.

So even the Pro can't maintain a solid 60 fps? That bodes well.

I mean, I know the game drops frames a fair amount on the base PS4 — mostly noticeable at Adenauer Forst and Druids in races, especially if there's any particle effects in play — but I expected a rock-solid showing on the Pro.

Why can't PD optimize their game to maintain a 60 fps framerate? This just doesn't make sense to me, Turn 10 has been able to do so with FM6 and they're using a less powerful system to do it. There isn't even dynamic weather being used this time, so not much should be holding the game back.

PD tends to spend too much time on graphical fidelity than performance optimization.

Not surprised, imagine the last racing games you have played are Forza Horizon 3, FM6 or Driveclub. I would be the first to find GTSport boring, empty, almost ugly with some tracks. (Tough I will buy it on day one because I know GT has something that I don't find with other racing games.)

GTSport is very impressive visually on my TV. I have DC and both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I'm going to disagree there. I've played FM6 for quite a lot of time and I've seen plenty of GT Sport's beta gameplay. The track quality really isn't that much different imo.

FM6 has the "Sega Rally" effect (works also with Ridge Racer), the same cool animations that you see at each lap like a plane landing. But all in all, it makes the track so much more alive. I have never seen a helicopter or a fan waving a flag in the last GTs.

I know, I've played the game. That's the thing though, the extra animations honestly don't make FM6 feel not that much more lively than any of the gameplay footage I've seen in GT Sport. Mainly because what GT Sport lacks in special animations makes up for in lighting. The way Forza's tracks are in terms of lighting gives it a lifeless feel sometimes in comparison to GT Sport's lighting.
