Entry Deadline 14 minutes.

Finish

Raced in VR2. False start by me. I pull to the left. Dropped a couple places. Made up a couple places. Dropped down as low as 12th. Four car battle and car ahead of me loses it out of T1. Made contact. I was able to keep going.
Pressed on and battled for the last 2 laps versus P6, as they had recovered from a late spin.

Give me my GR010 please.

If you get a penalty on the main straight, you can pretty much full block anyone behind you and won't even get a penalty. GG Kaz 👍

I just realized the in-game report system from GT Sport is missing as well. And when I tried to report from PSN it just gives me an option to block the player and said I should report from the game. Not that I've seen anyone getting banned from being reported, but at least the system was there. Now there's even less deterrent for griefers. What a joke. No wonder driving standards are what it is nowadays

I'm boggled how desperate some people seem to get just to defend like 10th place? You're not going to win anything either way. Just have fun and race properly FFS.

In my experience the racing has always been more desperate and dirty in the Toyota championship races. At first I thought it was because they were using the new Supra which in the first championship had high enough speed and took long enough to brake that you became an easy punting target at any sharp corner after a straight. But it's never not been dirty.

And yet here I am ready to race!

I don't think I had that much motivation for this round. Qualified P14 and finished P12 as there was a battle for 9th-12th place. Everyone decided to give it their all in that battle, as there were a few cases of bumps and blocking. For now, I had my DR reduced to A from A+. Not so much of a bummer tbh as the bar is almost full.

I think I should use the DS4 for the next round lol.

My round was surprisingly clean. Only managed a 2:20 in qualification, P11. Everyone got a decent getaway and somehow made it through turn 1.

Didn't see any deliberate ramming, just a bit of door banging as we all struggled a bit with the tyres. I went with the Corolla, think the other option is slightly quicker as I was getting gapped a bit on the straights, even in the draft.

Couldn't figure out a couple of braking points and the errors dropped me out of the pack. Once you're behind there's no recovery in so short a race. Took me until lap 5 to manage a 2:19, finished P13.

Bring on the proper race cars, this one a bit too sluggish for me.

Not much of an eventful race for me, but I love driving cars like this so it was an absolute pleasure to whip it round Fuji for 12 laps.

Qualified 6th with a 2:16.3, finished a very secure P5 after some battle and a couple people ahead of me spinning.

On another note - I noticed the cars in this event have number stickers applied associating to your 'rating' in the lobby, like how Sport Mode races were in Gran Turismo Sport. You can see the "4" on my bonnet in the first pic (2nd pic is from practice).
Is this the first time they've used the dynamic number stickers in 7? I quite miss the feature.

An okay start to the season. Not great, but not bad either. Qualified P9, improved practice time by 2 tenths, 2.16.9, but tight in quali - just 3 tenths from P5.

The race then, like typical a bit chaotic into T1, jumped up to P6. Then two drivers went drifting the next lap into the hairpin, start of sector 3, up to P5. The drifting Frenchman and a Belgian driver drove past me, down to P7. The next few laps, kinda just hanged at the back of the top6 just about, they were a bit quicker. But then made a really stupid mistake into the hairpin start of sector 3, switched down to 1st gear too quickly which caused the car to snap and I cut the track. A 1 sec penalty 😑 Another French driver passed me, now down to P8, but luckily no one else got past me. Passed the French driver on the same lap and then had to do some defence in last sector to stay ahead of the chasing few drivers.

Stayed in P7 next few laps, but then at lap 8 a German driver broke free from the trio chasing me and got really close and passed me into T1 on lap 9. I did try to go for a cutback and we went side by side into T2, but I decided to back off, again down to P8. Stayed close to the German but failed to get past him in the end, being a bit slower in last corner did not help. Got really close to the German on last lap into the start of sector 3 hairpin, but had no room to go for a move. So in the end P8 & 158 pts.

Dissappointed with the silly penalty, cost me around 4 seconds or so, so maybe 1-2 places. That is just too harsh imo but oh well that is what happens at Fuji in a slow road car. But still solid points on the board, not too much deviant from my typical average (seems to be around 165-170 pts or so). I really feel like the track wasn't the most fun for this car, especially sector 1. The race imo could have rather been 8-10 laps. The racecraft itself was pretty clean in race I'd say, and I am happy to say GTWS races at least in Nations have been that way for a while now, and it is nice to see that this continues.

Not trying again, I rather take safe points this early in the champ and I see it not being worth it to go again for maybe 8-20 more points at best and there is a chance that people who did one race will go quicker next race (I usually have my best pace in race 1 already). And also I remember in GTS days ending up against several A+ drivers in later slots (despite being like 43-46K A DR driver), so not something I want to see 😅

So, just 3 tenths from me :sly::lol:

Nothing really to say about this race; after taking 2nd place I strolled until the end (1st was uncatchable)

Ahh okay that's you, well done. Yeah well it can be boring, but I'd take a stroll for P2 all day 🤷👍

In my excitement, I messed up taking a screenshot, but....

Qualified around where I expected to, in 10th, in my B/S GT2 lobby. Had a great start using TC2 and found myself in 2nd after the melee of T1 and the leader then picked up a 1 second track limit penalty.

Made the pass for the lead while they served the penalty and that was all she wrote for the day. Would have been around a 1 second victory, except the pack behind had a huge pile up in the last corner of the last lap and I ended up around 3 seconds clear by the line.

116-ish points and my 5th sport mode victory (3 dailies, 2 GTWS) as I creep ever closer back to A/S. Not bad for a race where top 10 was my goal. :)

Jumped in the morning lobby and it wasn't the highest scoring (my dr has been in free fall lately). I served a 0.5 penalty on my first flying lap and, in spite of the compromised second lap, still qualified P5. Bad race craft on the first lap, boxed myslef into bad lines in the crowd, dropped all the way to P12. I guess I had pace, at least in this lobby, got myslef back up to P7 to finish. Had some nice close battles working my way back up. But I really shoudl have finished 5 or better, oh well.

But... rant...... I know it's easy to pick apart every dumb thing PD does, and I usually don't bother. However, giving GT2&3 6 laps instead of 12, is, frankly, insulting and I for one am really irritated by this. Maybe they have data that suggests fewer people participate when the races are longer, but I doubt it and they won't say. I suspect there are more GT2 racers participating because I suspect there are more B racers on the bell curve. I'd like to see numbers after the day or a few races in.

Who cares, PD will do what PD does. I'll continue to race for myself as long as I enjoy it or until I feel completely disrespected (and I'm close). If the World Series is managed this way, I'll give it thought before entering.

I didn't do the last gazoo series, was it managed with dumbed down races for GT2&3?

I'm pretty new to Sport mode, so beginner driver rank. But qualified P2 and finished P2. Not bad, I'd say.

Might have been P1, but on the final lap I cut a corner in sector 2 a little too much and took a .5 sec penalty. I was neck and neck with P1 at the last turn but he was being a little pushy and knowing I was about to serve my penalty, I decided to back off so both our races weren't ruined.

Can we enter this event multiple times? This is my first time, so I figured you could only do one race per round.

I just tried to enter and just as it was starting the qualifier it just gave me a black screen and never loaded... Tried waiting around for a few minutes but yeah, nothing. Had to force quit the game, guess I have to wait another 50 minutes =/

This race was a pleasant surprise. I qualified 4th, did 2 laps with the second slower than the first but no mind, being in the top couple of grid rows gives you a great chance.

I got round the first corner ok in the race and took advantage of an early mistake by the race leader who spun and went face to face with Barry R on the hairpin Turn 6. I gained 1st place while they fell back to 15th. I managed to keep enough of a gap to avoid being slipstreamed on the straight and gradually built up and kept a 5-6 second buffer for the whole race, and won! There literally is nothing else to say, it was completely uneventful and over in 6 laps.

Only my 3rd win in 115 races, and totally down to clean consistent driving with no offs or penalties but I was by no means the fastest. Watching the replay back, the racer I took 1st from not only set the fastest lap but had a fantastic recovery race and ended up 3rd, and was about to take 2nd as we went over the line. If the race continued beyond 6 laps I reckon I would have had my hands full and don't think I would have won if it was the full 12.

Yea this race was a meh start , qualified P15 lol and ended in P11 - nothing to write home about :D

Lets hope the next race will be more interesting with the Yaris , i wish it was more like Yaris TCR or WRC car but oh well

Got my race in, it was a bit rough but fun. Qualified P6, was P4 on lap 3 but got bumped going into the chicane that caused me to spin and drop to P10. Climbed back to P7, but yeah that was unfortunate. Fun race tho.

I do wish qualifiers properly spread the field though. Really hard to do a good hot lap when you're in the pack racing. Maybe it's best to put yourself at the back of the out lap purposely.

Yes. I have been putting number boards on my cars for online races because they did not put them on automatically in GT7.

I was expecting a lot of Initial D liveries, and to my surprise there were no one. In fact only four of us had liveries.

I did a dream of a first lap going from P9 to P5 without contact. On fourth lap I made someone spin and waited for him, so dropped to P12. P10 in the end. After watching his POV on the replay I'm not longer sure it was my fault, since I think he maybe started to turn too early.

Now I have to custom a Yaris!

This is just about the stupidest car/track combo I have ever seen. Putting one of the least powerful cars in the game on a track that is all about speed/power? Psh. Should've been on Tsukuba.

I got placed into GT1 once I signed up for the championship. Qualified P13 with the Levin. I picked up a couple of 0.5 second penalties in the first half of the race, but I was able to recover from those without them hurting my race too much. One driver who qualified P9 was unfortunate enough to get spun out once, but managed to recover and get back in front of me, only to get spun out a second time. Didn’t see him again after that.

Towards the end of the race, there was a group of 3 cars battling quite aggressively but it didn’t get out of hand enough for me to benefit from. I crossed the line in P9 for 131 points.

That was a mildly amusing one, haha.

One and done for me tonight. Did the first GT1 lobby, Q'd on pole with a 2:16.7, lead from the front at the start of the race for about a lap or 2 but lost it to "not my president". For the remainder of the race is was mostly just reel in a bit, lose a bit, reel in a bit, lose a bit but stayed in 2nd for the rest of the whole race. Probably would have preferred this car (which was nerfed to 127hp for this race) to be on something a little more tight and technical, but oh well.

I was intrigued by x18 tyre degradation for the next race with the Yaris and I've done a test. Driving with the intention of damaging the tyres I managed to totally destroy the front right wheel at lap 9 (out of 10). Front left was at 50%, and rear wheels barely damaged.

So I think nobody will be faster pitting, but really reckless drivers could have a bad time near the end of the race.

I imagine this race would be boring if you ended up on your own but luckily in my race I was in a group of cars from start to finish running from about 3rd-8th. As with every other points/GTWS race I’ve done in GT7, everyone raced respectfully. Plenty of contact of course but that’s racing and nothing malicious. There was a well known dirty driver out front in the lead but luckily he was out on his own and drove away. Ended up 3rd which I’m happy with, think it was 160-something points (184 for the win). Road cars always produce the best racing but I’m not sure why PD are so obsessed with putting them on Fuji every time. Give us Alsace Village (forward) already!

Hate that the old Sport Mode number plates are back without warning but the numbers don’t show up on the banners hovering above the cars so you can’t tell the seed position of the cars you’re around. It was always my strategy in qualifying in GTS to find the #1 or #2 ranked player in the room and follow them and it usually helped. But now you can’t even do that, they’re just ruining liveries for no reason.

Going to try running most of the Toyota races this year, forgot about them last year and only did the final one. The high downforce race car races will probably be a slog but it’s usually one of the only schedules where PD are liberal with the road cars.

Late to the party but I’ve done a few races with the new physics now, they’re so inconsistent, some cars feel really good (like this AE86) but some (like Gr.3) just feel so so bad.

The problem is, it's supposed to be like this.

All PD had to do were build the N2 cars with the same Garage or rent options. Missed opportunity.
