That is an accurate assessment IMO. I also believe that we will have a second test season, following a bugfix update, to further consolidate the DR of the new players, do more testing, and with longer races.
Yeah it kind of hit me today when I saw Test Season 1 while I was waiting 10 minutes for qualifying to start.

First time I actually finished a "championship". I did some races in GTS, but never got to race in all stages.

Today's Nations race went pretty well. Qualified in 2nd, just 0.041s from 1st place. I got a good start and jumped to 1st immediately after 1st corner and could lead for about 5 laps. I had no problems at all during these 5 laps, but I couldn't get faster lap times. In Free Practice I had a lap with 1:11.752, which for me is quite amazing! But during the race I was always hitting 1:12.

A mexican driver was doing really good. Starting in 5th, he slowly but surely passed everyone in front, including me! I can't argue this time, he was driving smoothly than me. I felt I couldn't defend my position, so I didn't fought that much because I knew I could at least open a lead from the 3rd place and safely secure 2nd place.

It was funny because the gap between me and 1st place literally got stuck in 0.8-1s. My best laps came in the final 2 laps. The difference went from 0.9s to 0.5s, followed by 0.3s in the last lap, but like I said, even in that last lap I just couldn't hit THE lap.

So qualified in 2nd and finished in 2nd. Not bad.

Overall I'm really happy about it! Even though it's just a "Test Season" and I still have a lot to learn. In all 4 races I qualified in 1st, 3rd, 3rd and 2nd again. Got my place on the podium in all four races too: 1st, 3rd, 2nd and 2nd.

Are these championships really even with no way to make your car faster?

Reason why I'm asking is because okay I use a controller and auto gears but I'm still pretty decent imo.

However on Sunday I was racing my porsche cayman around Suzuka and I was just getting left for dust by everyone on the straights and corners.

How is that so? Any tips?

Tonight I learned that lapped cars aren’t ghosted in GT7.

In my Nations race I saw a hubbub up front and the leader went into the fence in turn 1. That guy then proceeded to slow down on track and get lapped not once, not twice, but THREE times and tried to wreck the guy who took him out each time and failed pretty miserably every time. He might’ve got him the last time since he knocked the guy that hit him back from 5th to 11th.

But anyways, I hope they fix that soon (in sport mode, in lobbies it’s best to leave lapped cars unghosted). It was really annoying.
An update must have broken this cos I definitely drove through a ghosted lapped car in an early race after the game came out, hopefully this means it's a quick fix for next patch.

I am having a same experience. Although in my case it happens on Daily races.

GT3 - Lexus RFC (it seems it has less 100 bhp).
GT4 - Toyota Supra (behavior like using slicks on a wet surface, mainly while cornering).

What is weird is that in the GTW race where I have driven the Lexus (Team I signed), its behavior was great.

With both cars, everyone pass me in a strange easy way, and every time during first lap, I'm already at last position.

Both cars with oil change and all specs with 'excellent' condition.

New Nations Cup schedule up. First race has tuning.

Are these competitions every week? I don't have time for this!
Haha not usually, on Sport they were typically every month or so with rounds 2 days a week. I expect it to fall back into this pattern once this 'Test' period is finished (and lets be honest, it's needed, but I wouldn't worry so much if you miss some races).

Weird night at Laguna Seca. First slot I couldn’t find a rhythm. Qualified 14th with a lap over a second slower than my best FP and then immediately beat that on my first lap in-race. A few went to play in the sand and a few were slow and I eventually made it to p10. 155 points.

Decided to run the second slot and found myself behind an absolute moron in qualifying who ran everyone off the road, including me. I eventually started p18 with him in p17.

On lap 2 I caught him into turn 1 and he took a defensive line so I stuck to the racing line only for him to swerve out and sideswipe me off. He then did the same with several other cars over the next lap. Meanwhile, I had lost about 15 seconds and my race was over. There is an upside to lapped cars not ghosting though as I finished last, one lap down, but he finished second last with lots of damage.

Jumped in the 3rd slot and refound my rhythm. Qualified p7 with a low 1:29. Then the race went almost perfectly as I stayed smooth and fast and made 3 genuine overtakes. Finished p4 for 253 points with a CRB. Should be enough to get me 1st in Asia for Aston.

For those who want to look up their final results from Test Season 1, here are the page links available from the official website:

Nations Cup.
Manufacturers Cup.

Pretty happy to pick up 471 points in my first Nations half-season. Those were enough to finish first in my region, 9th in the UK and 79th overall in the EMEA GT1 League. Looking forward to seeing where I end up in Manufacturers once I get this evening's combo done.

Even at S SR, I am getting assassinated even in qualifying lol and almost every race I get spun out by someone who completely misses the braking zone or is lunging 5 cars at once. Now my SR is down to A+, doesn't feel great lol.

Would also like to add that it seems playing with ASM and Countersteering assist for clowns like me at lower DR is a huge gamble as you are sure to get hit at some point and without these assists you will probably not be able to recover while the people around you feel like they are driving concrete blocks.

Hey guys,

New here! Thanks for posting the results! Was put into GT2 bracket due to people early in the game's life lowering my DR/SR ratings from GT Sport.

Ended up placing #38 in the North America bracket and #1 in the Virginia one. Pretty solid as my tries in GT Sport were horrid.

In GT7 I have yet to win a race but have numerous top 5 finished and 4 fastest laps in like 34 races. (All controller as I have not busted out the G29 wheel yet)

Only 4 Top 5 finishes in GT Sport in 31 races in the Championship Series.

My GT Sport career was meh for the most part.
1,139 races 103 wins 512 top5 143 fastest laps

Are there any rewards for participating in these series? like a credit payout at the end or are the credits at the end of each round all you get?

I wonder what's up with the DR/SR? My ranking screen says I'm now A/A+ (is A+ SR something new?), while the leaderboard says I'm S/S.

*Edit - In-game shows A/S. So that's 3 different combinations

The stuff on the website is wrong. There is no SR A+. That's really S. There is, however, a DR S which can be awarded after a season, but in this case there was no S rank implemented after the Road to GT7 series so it's just another error on the website.

Take everything on the website with a pinch of salt since it is clearly not finished yet. That's why there is not a link to Sport Mode yet under the GT7 tab.

Good thing I didn't post a bragging remark about my newly acquired Star player status

I can't believe how much is missing and sort of broken in these races. Everything from all the disconnects, the poor implementation of the lobbies with chat and layout, to the way the points are presented, the website etc.... you'd think after the relatively smooth GTS experience, it would have been a much smoother transition. I guess that's what the test seasons are for, but some of it seems so basic from a user's perspective, anyway.
