Just to double-check on that, I've looked at my video from the recent Toyota Le Mans race.

This is how the radar looked as I was leaving the pit lane for qualifying:

And this is how it looked when the race started:

So yeah, whatever you come up against during your outlap/flying lap in qualifying is very likely what you'll get as the first two laps of your race.

Terrible race under the rain.

I had a 5 seconds penalty from the very beginning for touching someone who was already crashing (and I only touched him because I turned while braking in an attempt to avoid him). I obviously became dead last thanks to that penalty, and since I had experienced that I'm not able to pass on the ring (while everyone else pushes me to pass) I took a gamble going for hard tyres and hoping for the best. Well, track was never for dry tyres, so I remained last. 11th thanks to quiters and someone who gave up on the last lap.

I think 11th is around what I could get on a regular dry race at the ring, so ok. I couldn't give it another try even if I wanted anyway.

RobertHammer was in the lobby too. I perform terrible any time I find a GTPlanet member.

I'm sitting here desperately waiting for my Fanatec wheel base pedals etc order to arrive in the hope I can break it in with a race around the Nordschleife tonight. Although I imagine it might take a little longer than I have to get setup and aquainted with the kit, having only raced with the standard controller so far.

The Ring is EPIC! All up the session lasted 90 minutes. Apologies for his long report as a result.

Qualifying was wet to start with the surface water bar at 2/3 full by the middle of the out lap. The rain then stopped and by halfway through the flying lap the bar was back under 1/3. Your choice was to run slicks and miss the cutoff to start the flying lap OR run shredded inters for the last half lap. Everyone chose the latter and I qualified 9th.

Race started with conditions the same so I ran 2 laps on inters. A LOT of people started on slicks. By the end of lap 1 I was p5 with p2 only about 2 seconds up the road. P6 was a few seconds back and then a big gap to the cars with slicks.

Pitted from p3 after 2 overtakes on the straights on lap 2. 1st and 2nd stayed out. Exiting the pits I misjudged the cold tyres on a slightly damp track and overshot T1. 4th and 5th got back past.

Tight racing for a lap until, at the end of lap 3 , the two in front pitted and both came out behind us.

I then got held up by two AMGs in front while the pole sitter in a Corvette started chasing us down. On lap 4 he blew (pushed) by me and then harassed the front 2. 2nd crashed at the carousel and 1st (AMG), 2nd (Corvette) and my Porsche in third hit Dottingshohe almost nose to tail. Bump drafted the Corvette past the AMG and overtook in his draft.

The AMG then pushed past me at turn 2 and proceeded to defend like his life depended on it. All the time the Corvette got smaller and smaller.

I stayed patient and on lap 6 I got a good run through Kesselchen and had the inside and half a car length lead into Klostertal. Unbelieveably the AMG refused to pull out and I lifted to avoid an inevitable disaster. More holding up through the rest of the lap until Dottingshohe when again I got the run and overtook the AMG. Heading to the final chicane I held the inside as he drafted out beside me. In a carbon copy of Klostertal he again tried to go two wide, but this time there was no way for me to back out so we hit the right hander together and he ended up tank slapping the wall as his car failed to grip.

The last lap was me just trying to maintain a 5 second gap and I actually had it out to 8 seconds, when my steering wheel seemingly overheated and stopped working. It was only a few seconds of no inputs, but enough to end up on the grass and grazing the walls. No penalty, but some damage and now only a 2.5 second gap.

Thankfully the wheel recovered and by the end of the race I had pulled a 7 second gap to finish second with first 27 seconds up the road. Only 5 cars crossed the line before the countdown timer expired, only 2 cars quit.

252 points and my neck, shoulders (and wheel) were screaming. One and done and super-pumped.

This was an absolute blast to race. More of these please PD.

@Globato44 Hey, I was in your lobby too. It's cool to learn there was so much GTP representation in this race!

I can't say things went so terribly for me. In fact, I had what probably is the most satisfying result for me in Sport Mode so far.

Whilst viewing the race details during the warm-up I completely ignored the track conditions before the timer counted down and began qualifying on the slicks. Relieved to know that exiting teleported me back to the pits with no time lost, I switched to the intermediates before settling on full wets.

Amidst all this confusion I saw I had just over nine minutes to make it around the whole circuit to begin a flying lap so I got on with it. I re-passed a few cars, so knew I made a good choice tyre-wise (at least for now) and made it with about thirty seconds left on the clock.

Soon, I was in no man's land with a clear, drying track ahead of me. The original starters were long gone, almost done with their laps. The full wets saw me through the lap. It didn't feel that spectacular but I kept it tidy. I was astounded to read that my split time was over two seconds up on the provisional pole along Dottinger Hohe, where in another twist, the heavens opened again.

Sliding through the final corners, I lost time but not enough to stop the upset I'd cause, stealing pole in the dying seconds of qualifying. What a thrill!

1.jpg

I believed my pole to be a bit of a fluke under the changing conditions, so had modest expectations going into the race. I was convinced that I'd be passed and fall back into the mid-pack before long. The rain fell just like it had at the beginning of qualifying, so the question was whether to stick or twist with the tyres during preparation. I've got to credit @Zorz here, I read his earlier post and doubled down on the full wets, assuming that the car would be predictable for at least the first two laps. And lo and behold, it was.

A 0.5s penalty for my nearest challenger for the lead gave me some breathing space after the first lap (which saw him fall from 2nd to 9th along Dottinger Hohe - this race was really that close), and I extended my lead to six seconds by the end of the second.

But the track was drying fast, and my full wets had some serious wear that tempted me into boxing for slicks as well. I knew my race would unravel in spectacular fashion if these conditions continued. Then I saw my rain light come on again and, miraculously - it began to rain!

I knew I was in uncharted territory and would have to nurse my wets, but at least I knew it was a better compound to be on than the slicks. The Ferrari behind chewed up my lead but it wasn't enough. I kept calm and save a few missed apexes and wall brushes I took victory by just over a second.

2.jpg

Relief and elation washed over me as I crossed the line. I'm absolutely loving competing in this Manufacturers' Cup, what a thrill this game can be sometimes!

Qualified P8 - it started with dry but also rain came in so the best idea was to use the Inters , lap was quite meh it had alot of traffic and a train going on
Race - went pretty good as it started to rain chaos happened , not really to me as had those inters so i went by everybody from P8 to P3 , really good racing with other drivers here back and forth , during the second lap as it started to dry up my inters started to fade and my luck with it xD dropped to P5 , on the final lap P4 had a small issue in last corner being a ghost so i managed to squize by him and ended in P4 - very satified :P

Just got all set up, done two practices laps for this race and the race doesn’t even start at 5pm (BST). Got to wait another hour. I’m sure PD keep changing the times for these races.
Decided I’m going to do a one and see what happens. Not really that bothered about todays race, or my result. Just thought I might as well try it as I could get some good points from it depending how many people either bin or get the strategy wrong…obviously I have to have a clean race first

Is the amount of water at the start of the race random? The pre-race screen said there was 0% water on track so I picked RH, however once we crossed the start line the track became wet. Myself and a bunch of other players ended up quitting. Do we just have to pick IM and hope for the best?
Same thing happened with this past Toyota GR race @ LeMans. The pre-race lobby said 0% surface wetness. However, you could hear and see rain in the background. So that is what I go by now. Sure enough when the race started the wetness meter was almost 1/2-way full. So pay close attention to what it looks like in the background in the pre-race lobby to make a decision before the start.

One and done for me.

GT3
DR/SR - C/S
13 person lobby wasn't worth too many points (P1 57 pts.)

Qualifying didn't make sense to me. I only set one lap, which was my out lap while dry. The second lap it began to rain, so I backed out and fit IM tires. About halfway through that out lap, I realized I wouldn't have time to set a flying lap and just backed out. Apparently, only one person set a valid lap, and it was slow. Something over 10 mins. So I don't really know how the starting order was determined, but I feel if I had just stayed out, I could have easily had pole.

I'm starting P11, with the #8 board.

As for the race, since it was raining at the end of qualifying, I kept the IM tires on. But to my surprise, the track was entirely dry, weather radar was clear. So I start on the wrong tire while most of the field ahead is on the RH, some others were on wet tires, but not many.

So, right away I know I will need to pit after lap 1.

For now, I'll just manage a safe pace and take advantage of any opportunities when there's an off ahead. And there will be quite a lot of them. By the time I reach the Nordschleife, I'm up to P9.End of lap 1, up to P6.

Watching the radar, it looks like rain is imminent. Too bad the current set of IM I was on are almost gone, they could not survive another lap, so I get a fresh set of IM tires and top off the fuel, just in case. I exit P7, 4 cars ahead are still on hard tires, back to it and I hope for rain.

The rain starts around the end of the GP section. The hunt is on. I'm held up by a Brazilian RSR who also has the IM tires, so I just keep the pressure on them. We pass P5, then P4, then P3. I get around the Brazilian before the Karussell, but I get a tire in the dirt and spin losing the position. I catch back up and get around when they slide off the track a little while later. P2 and my objective is just to finish clean. I can't even see how far ahead P1 is.

Lap 3 and the rain has stopped but the track is still very wet. The IM tires last much longer when not on a dry track, they're barely worn. Luckily, I did have good practice in the rain before the race. I bring it in with the fastest lap and P2.

This is a good enough result, 55 points is ok for me. A total of 7 DNF's helped me out a little. But I think the thing that prevented me from a win was the botched qualifying session. Watching the replay, P1 was all over the place and running off in many locations while I was being held up by traffic.

Did my one and only shot and well………

GT2 - 6pm slot (UK). All DR B. I was Car #8 for today.
Car - Genesis X

Quali - well…who picked Inters as they saw rain coming? Yep that was me… Everyone else went hard tyres. Managed to stick it P11 with a 8.39

Race - Made sure to go with the hard tyres for the start! Opening lap I made a nice overtake on the inside into T1 and also past a fellow Genesis driver due to them been punted. As we get onto the Nordschleife a few little errors from me allowed P10 to attack but luckily I had the inside lines. Into the Adenauer Forst corner a GTR lost it and then a small pinball effect crash happened. Everyone got through ok and I’m up to P8. After that P8 is where I would stay for the next 2 laps. Challenged P7 a few times on L1 & 2 but they were much quicker me. L3 my luck turns a Ferrari goes off ahead and while they are rejoining I just get ahead and the straight line speed of the Genesis is good enough to keep me ahead until the Ferrari then loses control again. Just before the final Carousel again I get another freebie as a GTR goes off. Cross the line in P6! Absolutely buzzing for that result. I drove a clean race, error free race. Was a dry race with wet weather in area but the weather seem to avoid the track all race.

Paid off to doing that race after saying I wouldn’t as I took home 108 points which is my 2nd best score in this series.

Retirements - only had 15 in the lobby at the start, and 2 car quit during the race. 13 finishers.

Qualified 5th with Inters on a wet but drying lap. At the start was surprised to see the three drivers straight ahead of me all over the shop on the run down to turn 1. Clearly they haven't been reading this forum and believed the 0% water figure and started on slicks instead of inters (From the replay I could see only 7 of us were on inters)

So straight up to P2, a scattering of mistakes all round during the first led to me going up to 1st down to 5th, back to 2nd where it settled down for a while.

Track was still wet at the end of lap of 2, so decided staying on Inters was the only choice, then noticed the rear tyre wear was well over 2/3rd! Panic moment pit or not? Stayed out, rear tyres pretty much gone by half way around, sliding all over the place. So dropped to 4th where I was relieved to finish.

Watching the replay I could see all but one of the lead runners ran to the end without pitting, so guess the others did a better job of looking after their tyres than me. The one who did pit was struggling on slicks and dropped back even further.

SR S

I missed Road Atlanta, so this would be my second race of the season. And despite it being the Nurburgring, I was really looking forward to running what is one of my favourite Gr.3 cars with the RX-V.

I can take or leave the Nurburgring, but I must admit with these changing conditions it made for one the best races I've had on GT7.

Went into quite a high lobby for me, with 229pts for the win, as door #16. Went out for warm-up to scout the weather, and it looked dry with some rain on the radar, but way off.

Jumped out 1st for qualifying, which I rarely do, trying to make the most of a dry track. Ultimately it made no difference  . Half-way round our flying lap it started to rain, and just before I hit the Carrousel it was aquaplane conditions. Made for a bizarre sight of us all bunched in a group, barely holding on with cars going off track. I copped a 3s pen for a car that un-ghosted in front of me, so my lap was only good enough for 13th.

As the race itself? Well the plan was to pit at the end of lap 1 for Inters, and after a shaky, but clean start, I did just that. Only 3 or 4 of us pitted for Inter tyres, so by the time we got past Flugplatz, we all started to catch those on slicks. By the Carrousel cars were going off left, right and center. Must admit, it was quite satisfying to drive past on Inters. Though I felt their pain, having made the same mistake at the TGR race at Le Mans...

3 of us formed a breakaway group after that (my RX-V, a Brit 650s, and Swiss in a 458). What ensued was one the closest and cleanest races I've ever had in a Manufacturers cup race on GT. Come lap 4, we all pitted again, this time for Hards. I messed my fuel strategy up somewhat, as I fuelled just 0.1laps short...

I exited the pits in P2, and come the start of lap 7 I overtook the 458 for the lead. Knowing fuel was going to be tight, I just went for it anyway and hoped for the best. Coming out the Döttinger Höhe my fuel hit 0, with the 650s closing me down. I ended up running out of fuel just 500yards from the line (and with it P2). But truth be told, I couldn't care less. I'm super happy with the 2nd place finish I never expected, plus I enjoyed some superb battles along the way. The RX-V was a joy to drive in the changing conditions...

The server got so bad in my race about lap 6 a warning message came up on the screen saying something like dissconnected and offline mode only. But the race carried on and did not crash, even got past the results page. But the race was really bad, cars doing wild wheelies and jumping about. I think something is still going on with the GT7 network.

Another case to 2 races because I mucked up my first.

6pm Slot:
Weather was light rain at the start clearing towards halfway around lap 1.
Qualified on inters as I did not know how much it would clear. By the time I hit the nord on the flying lap it was probably navigable on hards. Put it P5. I decided to start on hards knowing I'd have the advantage after half a lap if I could hold on.
However whilst the rain pattern was the same it started with a wetter track and thus I was immediately in danger.
I kept it in a straight line unlike the Ferrari in pole. T1 was a bit of a mess. I was fine but skated wide with the customary spin to boot.
1686778500335.png

It was a struggle to keep it on the track. About 5 of us went hards and the inter lot flew on up the track. I was really struggling and was 2nd last of our group after several spins. Whilst the rain did stop quickly the track was still very wet offline. A slight misjudgement during braking or understeer saw you around or in the barrier. Especially into Bergwerk as the wet patch leaps at you in the braking zone. It was difficult to claw back time dodging puddles scared to push it incase you went offline. Both laps 2 and 3 were dodgy although lap 3 was a lot better. I managed to have a better lap 3 than the others and finished best of the hard starters in P10 after others span or quit. I'm not sure the dying inters loose enough time to loose to the ice skating the hard users had to do in this scenario. Learning my lesson I prepared for the next slot only 2 minutes away.

7pm slot:
This one was a lot more simple. Dry all race.
I was catching a Ferrari too quickly on the outlap. I kept trying to distance myself but eventually got annoyed so passed them. Fair play to them they waved me through. However I still caught a car on my flying lap passing them as they went off at Metzgesfeld only for me to bin it out of Kallenhard. I passed them again when they went wide into Klostertal. I lost enough time that I was only P11 on the grid. Made a place in T1 as a car was sent spinning. The 2 cars ahead were knocking 7 bells out of each other. The Porsche was finally murdered and I managed to grab the other into the T5 hairpin. I used the lap to close the gap ahead to the Supra. They wobbled out of Kallenhard and I pounced.
1686779293635.png

By the end of the lap I caught up with an NSX towards Tiergarten thanks to the tow. The Vette has some okay top speed if the straight is long enough. However I backed out not wanting an almighty crash. If it was lap 3 I may well have stayed in there. I harassed them until they went wide at the corner before Warsteiner which seems to have a different name on every circuit map I look at. I passed them before Warsteiner and the NSX huffed and fell back whilst even in my slip towards the NGK.
1686779573790.png

Again I chased down the leading pack as I was now in P6. The gap was quite big but I was hoping for some battling and incidents. Well yes it did allow me to catch them by the start of lap 3. We all formed a queue out of Aremburg and down the Foxhole.
1686779699789.png

1686779724560.png

However it wasn't too be as I had a snap coming out of the right hander after Wehrseifen. Thankfully I stayed pointing the right way and only lost 5 seconds to the car behind. I was a lonely race to the end from there and the hint of another accident ahead made me hopeful of another position for it not to materialise and a P6 finish was mine.
I'll happily take that after the first race. I had the pace for a podium here if I got my qualy right but hindsight and all that.

Did end up doing this, joining on the last slot with some practice after 9pm when things cooled down a bit and the young'un was long asleep.

Glad I did as it's such a fun drive though the race was pretty eventless for me. No rain in Qualy or the race. Started 4th and pulled away nicely. Got a boost as cars behind had a battle and I could see in my rear view one had swiped another off the track and given me a bit of a gap even if I had slipped quite a bit behind 3rd already going onto the main circuit.

Binned it lap 1 on that right hander before the hairpin where the kerbs narrow in and it's very bouncy. Lost control and just went off into the wall. Rolled back on in 5th with a 5 second gap on 6th though way behind now 4th and even further up the road to the leading 3.

6th had a couple of mess ups as he dropped to 13 seconds back and then eventually 20 going into the last lap. Just had to not make a mistake and bring it home for a top 5 finish and a clean race, apparently, I'll take it.

A brief catch up of my GTWS adventure.

Round 2 - Road Atlanta (eugh)
I'm bad at the first chicken... like really bad, I'm either a snail or wildly sawing at the wheel. I qualified and finished P4 for 141 points which I was happy with. It seemed I was a rarity in the lobby because I didn't get a penalty all race, unlike...

Round 3 - Nords
Like all rounds this series I'm 1 and done, with 20mins practice if I'm lucky. Quali had spots of rain but the track didn't go in to the second bar so it's happy days. I qualified P6 with the other Alfa (ooo friend) in P7. I plodded along quite happy whilst the carnage erupted around me, by the end of lap 1 I was in 4th. On lap 2 I, rather brilliantly I might add, binned it at Metzgesfeld, dropping to 8th place. Back to plodding along and I pit at the end of lap 5 for a fresh set of hards and some fuel, exiting in P6 I get that lovely red banner which we've all seen before. Penalty - Crossing the Pit Lane: 3.000s BUNT, or a word which rhymes.

Lap 6 brings the wet weather and I'm still plodding along, having a chuckle at 4th and 5th auditioning for dancing on ice in front. I pass P5 up the inside in to Brunchen 2, get on the power early and meet everyones favourite Barry (not Manilow). I catch back up with P5 at Galgenkopf, he's still having fun facing any direction but straight ahead, and overtake him at the beginning of DH just in time for my gasp EFFING 3 SECOND PENALTY.

P7 in an Evo overtakes me down the straight because of aforementioned penalty. I lol as I breeze past on the run up to Mutcurve, he's still within 1s as we come on to DH but the superior speed of my Dominos delivery vehicle means it's over 1.5s by the time I pass under the bridge. Hooray for GT7 BoP.

P6, One Hundred & Thirty-Something points

Well that was really fun!

Mixed conditions in qualifying, and I decided to gamble with slicks, which I think was the right decision....but I managed to bin it and ended up P9.

Same deal with the race really. Moved up nicely in mixed conditions that weren't wet enough to pit for inters, but made things interesting in a few spots. Worked my way up to 3rd, and closing rapidly on 2nd with some weather on the radar by lap 4....so I decided to push the hards another lap in case the rain arrived. Well...it didn't, and I had a horrific lap, losing 40 seconds and dropping back to 10th after pitting.

Charged like an absolute bandit and made up 8 seconds on the two in front of me, and passed them both down the final straight for 8th place, 183 points and an 8.00 laptime on my last lap, which I was happy with.

Too ruined to go again, but I called my friend to see how he did (and to rant about my 8min40 laptime costing me....)....and he still had 2 laps to go, and most laps were in the 12-13 minute range with torrential rain

Americas slot 6, GT2, 131 point lobby, all B/S, door #5

Got lucky with the weather and had a dry track for qualy and race as the weather repeated. ( I don't like the weather 'forecasting' AT ALL)

Nailed my qualy to line up in P2, just a second off the lead Ferrari from Argentina. Clean through the short GP circuit when the Argentinian dropped to 1 red bar and started jumping all over the place. One second he was ahead 50 meters, the next he was behind me, and the next he was ghosting through me!

The lag had me rattled and changing my lines as we headed onto the Nord and I made a small error and the following 2 GT-Rs got by. Head down I pressed on and one Nissan made a mistake and back to third I was. Nothing from my perspective really changed after that as the front 2 slowly pulled away and I ran error-free to the end to come home 3rd, 11 seconds off the lead and just 4 seconds from 4th.

120 points at the end, and I'll call it done for the night. Pretty enjoyable, but if not for that South American lag...

To celebrate the arrival of my new car registration sticker coming in the mail, let's have a race at the Nordschleife!

I was able to have some practice leading up to today's race in all kinds of weather. So, i was prepared to any scenario. It didn't matter as the race was dry with a brief sprinkle on lap 2 that only had the wet meter go half way up the first third of it. I entered the 7:00pm GT2 Americas slot and I had plate #12. My qualifying wasn't the best as I got stuck behind a car that I couldn't get around. But I also went of track to slow my momentum a few times so that didn't help. I qualify P8 and I'm fine with that. I get pushed wide entering that small hairpin on the GP circuit on lap 1 and fall in line with the parade of cars. I get by a few of them, but I entered Kallenhard too hot and fall to P11. I don't panic and hit my lines and apexes, and catch up to a few drivers who pit for Inters I assume. I eventually finish P7 and I am extremely happy with that result. I think 3 drivers quit this race. 2 did so in qualifying and at least 1 during the race. I was too focused to notice any other drivers quit.

The McLaren felt nice and stable while driving the track. I didn't have any problems with it during practice and the actual race. I'm pleased with my choice and I'll probably pick it again next season.

Just finished GT2 race. Gambled on Inters on qualy and that didn’t work so started 14/15.

Worked my way up to about 10th then we get to the chicane before entering the Ring. Two cars side by side ahead brake around the 80 mark. There’s a gap so I was going to brake around the 50 mark, but it was too late before I could even react. 5 second penalty. P12.

Did anyone else notice than when it's raining the safety crew (and I think any spectators) are all in rain jackets/gear? Cool little detail!

Anyway, onto the Nord! Did two races in GT2 (literally everyone in both slots was an A rank, one of which was 75%), that were both really fun.

1) 12:00 EST - Qualified on pole in the AMG 20. Despite a Porsche being pretty close behind for most of the race, was able to bring it home.

e52eddcaa0ecb7e80f5e363eaa7d4416_photo.webp

2) 13:00 - Qualied in P3 with what felt like a pretty good lap; there was some rain towards the end but nothing crazy. Was an 8:02.X but got pipped by a Supra and BRZ. The Supra got the BRZ right off the line and for the majority of the first lap it was the three of us in tow. The Supra was getting away bit by bit, especially on the straights. The BRZ had a .500" pen so when we got to the pen zone I went by.

Then it was time to try and real in the Supra, which was ~2.0 ahead. But, as I noted earlier in this thread, the AMG's straight line speed was a hindrance. I was able to chip away at the delta a bit until we got to the straights. I'd lose 1.0-1.2 seconds on the back straight alone. It was too much and I finished P2.

Followed those up with a GT1 race in EMEA

3) 17:00 - Qualified P6, the lap felt pretty good but apparently it wasn't. Currently my DR is ~70-75% through A and everyone else in the lobby was basically the same. Despite that, I was 13th DR rank in the lobby. Lap one, the Lambo spun shortly after the carousal so up to P5.

Tried to keep close to the Porsche and Peugeot as possible and thankfully I did, doing down DottingerI was able to draft passed them both... barely... even if I had to go two tires off.

b3097d2445e59bf0f14c168e6d0702ff_photo.webp

Despite the Peugeot keeping the pressure on for a couple of laps, I was able to create a bit of a gap. P1 & P2 had started getting away and were like seven and five seconds up. From there it was try to keep the gap behind - which I was able to do - and gain on the car(s) ahead - which I wasn't able to do. So the majority of the remaining laps were just knocking them out.

13th rank in DR, quali P6 and finish on the podium... I'll take it.

None of my races had appreciable rain. It did rain in all three of them, but just a sprinkle which was barely enough to fill up the bottom of the meter. Kind of surprised and a little disappointed. I was hoping to get a race that was wet enough for IMs at least.

Oh well, so it is. Fun race... glad to have the Nord back and I'll miss it when it's gone again.

When they started to do weather races the weather in the race mimicked the qualy weather.
So yeah, whatever you come up against during your outlap/flying lap in qualifying is very likely what you'll get as the first two laps of your race.
Thank you guys so much for this. I used to have a wrong assumption that the race weather resumes where qualifying weather ended. This advice single-handedly gave me a great result.

It was quite a fun race for me since I always love rain, regardless of the track. I feel that the effect of drying line is comically overdone. It was wet for all 3 laps. Start of the second lap saw top 8 separated by less than 6 seconds.

And during the finish, top 8 were separated by just 17 seconds. Such a narrow margin at the Green Hell is not normal at all in mid-B/S lobby.

After having learnt from the similar Nurburgring events during Daily Races, I knew to be extra conservative, keep letting fast folks behind me go by, and took extra care not to make mistake at the cost of lap time. It paid off really nice. 8th may not look great on paper, but for me, it is an amazing result at the Green Hell, especially more so when I was #14.
its really bad lag again like before in todays manufacturers race.
The lag had me rattled and changing my lines as we headed onto the Nord
Thank you folks for saying this. The lag problem is still here. I am seeing it in Daily Races and in World Series events and I feel that most folks just are not mentioning it, making PD oblivious to the issue (or they don't care). I faced lag in this event as well. Both at start and somewhere in middle of the hell.

In addition, I feel that there are micro stutters/lag frequently, making the game feel like 30-45fps instead of 60fps.

Now THAT was a race. I was planning for a 1 and done and it worked out quite well.

Qualifying was basically drama free, the radar was completely clear the whole session. Managed a 5th place grid position. The pre-race lobby gave no indication of wetness so pretty sure everyone went RH.

Knowing how sketchy it is to pass around the Ring, I made it a point to see if I could pip a as many as I could on the GP section on the first lap. That worked well when right off the start I was able to outbrake 4th place into T1. Then 2 turns later 3rd left the door open and I slid inside. 1st and 2nd were off, so I set out to keep them in sight and maintain a bit of breathing room behind me. 2nd place made a couple of mistakes and I caught up and stayed on him. Coming onto the back straight at the end of the first lap I was able to draft passed. Held 2nd through the GP track section but ran wide and gave 2nd up heading back out onto the Ring for the 2nd lap. At that point 2nd kind of started to pull a gap on me after a couple of mistakes I made so I decided to just try and stay put and see how the weather would play out as the first 2 laps were all clear on the radar. Starting the 3rd lap a little blip of green was showing on the upper corner of the radar. By the time I came around to the back straight for the 3rd time it had already started to drizzle but the wetness indicator was showing barely touching the first line of the meter so I knew it was still safe to stay out on slicks. The radar also was all the same color, light green indicating it wasn't heavy rain.

At the end of the 3rd lap 1st and 2nd dipped into the pits to throw on IMs expecting the rain to pick up handing me the lead as I stayed out to complete the 4th lap on slicks, 4th place behind me stayed out as well. That was the important gamble. The rain stay light enough that the RH tires did their job and helped me get some gap on the previous 1st and 2nd guy. Then, by the time I came around to finish the 4th lap and pit for tires and enough fuel to finish the radar cleared up pretty much, so I chose to change to a fresh set of RH. I came out from the pits to start the 5th lap just as the second place driver at that point was coming into the T1 braking zone....so I got out in time to keep the lead and I knew my tires were fresher so I was able to pull a gap again to hold on. At that point I was just going to put the hammer down and try and make as much use of the RHs as I could in case things went sideways in the last 2 laps as I could now see there was some more activity creeping in to the radar, only this time I could clearly see it was darker spots. The whole 5th lap it stayed at 1 bar of wetness, so I was OK on slicks.....but coming onto the back straight it clearly started picking up and I knew it was now time to switch over to IM. I dipped into the pits, made the change, and as I got back out towards T1 I could see 2 drivers moved passed. Fortunately it was clear to see that they were still on slicks as I easily walked right up to and passed them before getting 1/2 way through the GP section. So back onto the Ring for the 6th time I was in the lead and pulling away slowly from 2nd until I had maximized the lead to about 15-16 seconds. All was well and I was just trying to keep the last lap clean and tidy, then of course disaster strikes me coming out of Bergwerk when I spin the car on the exit, and damage the front and rear bumpers on the guard rails. My lead cut down from 16 seconds to about 5 by the time I got back running. A few more mistakes trying to get back up to speed had 2nd place in a BRZ breathing down my neck and he put a move on me going into Schwalbenschwanz. I just tried to stay close enough hoping that I could draft back past on the back straight. But fortunately I didn't need to as he ran wide into the dirt going onto the straight giving me the opening I needed and sailed on to a very relieving win.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That’s me in 5th!!

Based on my 2 races in my euro alt this morning, light rain at the end of lap 3 meant heavier stuff to come.

….looks like I was wrong 😂.

Personally, I didn’t expect to get a good result here in the 458, and let this stand record, that I will never….EVER!!!….allow anyone to let me down, besides ME 🤣

Um...wow.

Slot 1: Qualifying started out very wet, then dried a bit on Lap 2, but not enough to try Hards in qualifying. Despite feeling somewhat slow in practice, I somehow managed to qualify P4, only 2s off pole. That didn't last long though, as I hemorrhaged positions in the "sprint" portion of the track down to 8th place, then finally spinning out after T1 of the "Norschleife" portion after getting random wheelspin in the middle of the straight, dropping me back to 15th. The only reason I wasn't last was because some poor soul decided to start the race on Hards, and that went about as well as expected on a track almost wet enough for Full Wets...

I caught the back of the pack pretty quickly thanks to the rain somehow having an effect similar to the "boost" setting, where the leader was unable to build a gap for some reason, and the entire field bunched up behind them. It looked like an AI race with how slow and bunched up we were. I made my way up to as high as 10th in the pack before running off track a couple more times back down to 14th, then back to 15th when I got shoved off the track at the mini-Karoussel when 2 other cars came together. I passed the Jag in 14th down Dottinger, then gained 4 more places due to 2 spinners and 2 pitters at the end of Lap 1 to end the lap in 10th. I'm not sure why anyone would pit at the end of Lap 1 when the track is still wet and it's extremely difficult to go 6 laps on a tank, but I was glad to be back in the Top 10 regardless.

In the middle of Lap 2 it actually dried out enough for an actual dry line to form, which caused the field to spread out a bit and convinced 1 person to pit for Hards, even though the radar indicated rain approaching the track. Sure enough, a light rain returned and took away the dry line, causing quite a few accidents, and by the time we got to the Karoussel, I'd worked my way up to 3rd, which became 2nd at the end of the lap when the leader pitted at the end of Lap 3.

Unfortunately I messed up the series of turns after Foxhole on Lap 4, including cutting across the first left-hander and and stupidly picking up a 0.5s penalty. by the time we got back to Dottinger, mistakes from the leader (that I got caught up in) had once again compressed the entire field so that my 0.5s penalty dropped me for 3rd to 7th.

More shuffling of the field saw me back in P4 at the end of Lap 5 before I pitted for fuel. Since it rained almost the entire time except for Lap 2, my Inters were in surprisingly good shape, so I elected to not change tires and do the entire race on 1 set of Inters, a-la Hamilton at Turkey in 2020. Since I only took fuel, I came out of the pits as the first of the people who stopped on that lap, and 7th overall. Of course that didn't last long, and I had the rest of the pack on my rear bumper headed into Flugplatz. One of them tried to stick it around the outside, but backed out. Unfortunately I carried too much speed into the corner afterwards for the tight line that I was now stuck on, so I ran wide off the track and fell down to P11. I got back up to P7 at the end of the lap when the rest of the field pitted.

Now on the final lap, and in a position to capitalize on the inevitable mistakes in front of me, I of course stupidly brake on the curb entering the "shortcut" corner in the Sprint portion of the track, sending me across the track into a spin and dumping me down to 9th. Fortunately I wasn't the only one to make a mistake, and I was up to 6th again when we got back to Dottinger, with the McLaren that was hounding me for that spot running wide at the previous corner and giving me some room to breathe. At the same time, a Porsche ahead had also run wide in that corner and had a poor exit onto Dottinger, allowing me to make easy work of passing it for 5th place. I had the slipstream of an M6 as well, but unfortunately wasn't able to do anything with it, and I crossed the line in P5 after 2 spins, a penalty, and multiple other off-track excursions, all while doing the entire 1-hr 3 min race on a single set of tires. The result was worth 252 points, which met my goal of scoring at least 250 points in each race. Even if I hadn't made all those dumb errors, I probably wouldn't have finished much better due to how the rain bunched up the field and effectively nullified any time lost due to accidents.
