Am I wrong to think Toyota are kind of a overrated pick for the Manufacturers credits pick-'em here? It's a long race, and the Supra isn't great on its tyres. In addition, Suzuka doesn't really have a long straight for the Supra to use its best asset, its top speed. Feels much more like a GT-R/BRZ/911 favouring track to me.

Don't forget possible rain as well. FR high power cars are terrible in the rain except maybe the BRZ because of its high downforce. MR cars like the NSX could turn out OP here. 911 is always safe bet but without Inostroza as lead driver it's a gamble. I went with Subaru in the end, Miyazono and Drumont are both top tier drivers.

For Nations Cup due to the TBA qualifier it's harder to predict. Spain, France, Italy and Brazil all have strong lineups. It will depend on which team can be the most adaptable on the day.

I can not help but feel a little dissapointed in the whole World Series experience in GT7 till now.
Back in GT Sport you had a longer season and plenty of exhibition series, and usually the interval periods lasted about 3 weeks.
Now last race was over a month ago and that was a season that lasted only 7 rounds and was cramped into a month. Likely we will have to wait for a long time for a new exhibition series and most propably that will only be a few races long.

Compared to GTS there are so fewer races; such a shame. The World Series should be the pinnacle of this game. Just like in any other aspect of the game it really feels to me like PD is not making any effort.

I was just thinking about this the other night. I wonder if they did it on purpose to test participation rates vs a longer drawn out season?

I personally enjoyed last seasons races and did just about all of them. I participate even if the car & track combo isn’t my jam. The only races I’ve missed were due to being away from home because of work or vacation.

Before anyone says anything, yes, I know:

Standard stuff given that they mis-spelled the game's name once today as well.

Well, great. Is there anything to do for the public in this kind of events? It's a 2 hour drive for me so I would consider it.
Right now there's no additional information, however the host did say that you could buy tickets for it and then gave the URL for the GT Live subsite.

I guess we just need to wait for that to be updated - and it looks like it will be November 30th to December 2nd.

It's been 2 months since the last GTWS race. How much longer until the start of next season ? :/
Not that GTWS events are particularly my thing.

But it does feel like PD are in somewhat of a holding pattern during these summer months. Be it online events (outside of Time Trials) and single-player content.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking. But it feels to me like something more substantial than normal is in the works to take the title through Q3/Q4. All this on the back of the movie release as well.

New exhibition series have been announced: Nations & Manufacturers

Of note: the GT1 races look really, really long, GT1 also has the heavy damage model on, Nations has two specified car races (think the dailies at SSRX with the provided tuned supercars), and the final race of Nations is undisclosed which is normally a "new content" thing.

Also all the Manu rounds have "Suspension (Partial)" tuneable, like with this week's Race B.

Yes! Glad they're coming back.

One thing I noticed immediately, is GT1 is using Gr3 and GT2/3 is using Gr4 for rounds 2 and 4. I don't like that.

Also, still limited time slots for GT1 :-(

I can foresee some chaos happening in GT1 Manufacturers round 3. Imagine someone misses their braking point at the start, rams you into the tight turn 1, and gives you engine damage, which thanks to the damage setting you then have to limp around the longest track in the game with, to then also make an unscheduled pit stop to fix.

Big decision time for me. I'm currently sitting at DR B 93%, and going well at Autopolis this week. So with some effort I could proably make it to A for these and enter the GT1 league. My big worry is the limited time slots and long race commitment might make it difficult to get a suitable time to enter some rounds.

I think the answer could be try and enter one for GT2, and the other for GT1, if I can make it to A.

yeah, boooo on the formats. Was really hoping they took our grumblings to heart and evened up the leagues.

I'm in a similar position, a really low A. (I'll be B soon if I don;t stop racing suzuka!) I want to do longer races, but the GT2 races are early saturday mornings for me. I really like those as then I can get my races done and go about my day. I also have the option of trying again later in the evening if I think I can improve.

I wonder if we'll still get additional credit prizes based on our ranking, despite this being an exhibition series?

Also worth noting that there's no mention of inters or wets anywhere on either list.

I think it's more likely that they've realised they were tipping us off in advance rather than it meaning there's no weather races, because Manufacturers round 1 is a recreation of the Amsterdam Suzuka race where it rained.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo World Series Exhibition Seasons Begin September 16

After a long break since the end of the official 2023 Gran Turismo World Series online seasons, Polyphony Digital has announced the start of the Exhibition Series that will tide players over until next year...

Don’t like it either. There’s very few Gr4s I like driving so an all Gr3 championship would’ve been much better. At least I get a final couple of series before my PS Plus expires in December.

Ugh, on further inspection it looks like the 2 Gr4 races might be fuel savers. Backwards DTS and at GVH, not a lot of fun. I don’t like the Ring either. Not sure I’ll do this series at all.

The Championships are showing in game now, and yes credit rewards are on offer again. 9 million is the highest you can get in GT1 which I think is a bit less but I can't really remember.

It is less. 99% sure 12mil was available in the past.

I am reading up on these as I can......... there's an SSRX race? Heavy damage may become an issue there.
