The more I think of it the more I get miffed about it. A whole Manufacturers (or Nations) season cramped into a few measly weeks with only six races. If you happen to have booked a holiday then you might miss most of it.
Got work or a social life? tough luck, you will miss most of it. How can you call this a proper season?
It is like the whole Premier League season stuffed into one Month with a game about every 3 days...and the rest of the year a few exhibition matches.
only a few days between each race, hardly any time to train or prepare. (Although likely most venues will be sprint races with hard tyres...)
Why not at least a week between each race!?
Likely I will do only a few races that I can actually attend and try to have fun with those and not care about the actual competion. That will influence which car I will use though....

But being in a competion is supposed to be fun. And fun for all, not just the top. I remember in GTS being in competition with several other B-riders, including, amonst others, @OJBrit. And for me the best thing was that to get the points you needed you sometime had to get out of your comfort zone. F.E. I disliked riding ovals but one time needed to race at one because I needed the points and in the end had an awesome race and got the points needed.
But when PD does not provide a serious competion then people will not treat it as one. And that will influence attendence and car selection.

THat's fair. I too wish the schedule was longer and better. I don't like having two races a week as it doesn't allow people with, you know, real life responsibilities like a job or family or the other million things we all have going on, to practice... if even make some of the races at all.
I guess I've just unwittingly lowered my expectations as a pseudo-defense mechanism with this game and PD's decisions. That being said I never played GT-Sp online so GT7 is all I know. Heck, I didn't even participate in the first few WS events in GT7.
So, the way I approach these is basically a Venn Diagram: left circle is races I am interested in; the right circle is the races I have time for (practice and participate); and the bit in the middle is the races I do. But yes, I agree that PD decisions sure make that center piece smaller that it could/should be.

Just waiting for race details for Manu Cup to drop.
I've done about as much testing as I care to on the Gr.3 cars from my shortlist of manufacturers -- the least popular in Canada: Citreon, Dodge, Hyundai, Renault, and Suzuki -- by running test races from prior seasons. The Citreon is bad on fuel. The Dodge is bad on tires AND fuel. I can't drive the Suzuki fast. So I'm finding myself with a two-horse race: Hyundai versus Renault.
The biggest unknown for me at this point is whether they will bring Gr.4 cars back into GT1. I've been working on the assumption that they won't since they didn't show up in the exhibition seasons, but if that changes, it might make some of those other manufacturers viable.
But for now, it is just waiting.

Hyundai? Has that thing been buffed? Or do you mean the Genesis X? I pick Hyundai one season. The tests for the 2 tracks meant I could compete with it, but Gran Valley got replaced with Nurburgring as they was a pit lane bug. At Spa it was wet so you didn’t notice too much the poor top end speed.
It’s looking like MR cars are the favoured cars right now. I hate to pick it, but I’m leaning towards the McLaren. I must jump back onto the game. Haven’t had chance since Tuesday last week.
I think PD have moved away from Gr4. They don’t use them at the finals so it’s a pointless using them in the qualifiers. Plus I know last time they had Gr4, a lot of GTWS drivers skipped them rounds.

Yep, the Hyundai Genesis, not the Genesis X. It had a buff in the recent updates, but I doubt it is anywhere close to being near the top cars. So far, I'm finding that it is a pretty good all-round car, though. Good on fuel. Good on tires. Decent pace compared to the other cars.
With all the work PD has done recently to rebalance the Gr.3 and Gr.4 categories, I could see them bringing Gr.4 back into the fold. I'm not expecting they will, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they did.

Le Mans (Gr2), Watkins (yay!), Trial Mountain, Maggiore Reverse, Daytona Road Gr 1 (yay!), Spa (yay!).

Looks pretty good indeed! I hope Le Mans and Spa have weather. The Wednesday race is only possible in the evening, I hope the ones on Saturday are also in the afternoon.

I only see the tracks listed under the Event Schedule at the Nation Cup event site -- no race details (damage, tire wear, fuel consumption, etc), like we had for the last exhibition season. Is that what everybody else is seeing or am I just not looking in the right place?

Gr2 at LeMans could be fun if the GT-One can compete... otherwise it'll be a CLK fest.
I like to see Watkins and Daytona, with an honorable mention to LeMans and Spa. Just really depends on the cars.

Yeah, the top times for Round 1 TT at Le Mams are all GT One's. I'm hoping for some dynamic weather to make it interesting. 10 laps is a fairly short race. We are looking at just over 30 mins of racing. If there's weather, you can probably add another 5-10 minutes to that. The Toyota Cup is currently the longest event over the summer period, and I'd expect.more people to take part in this, due to the lack of races for both Nations and Manu. The Toyota Cup has often been neglected in the past, but I'm hoping for a better turn out this season. The decision to give us more car choices to drive, should make it more appealing/interesting.
