Gran Turismo World Tour is happening

Wow presentation of this is great, really making gt sport stand out!

Hope they implement some of the graphics on positions etc looks really good, although I suspect this is just for this race.

New tyre model is intriguing, I hope we haven’t lost too much grip, low speed grip was bad enough as it was with the throttle mapping.

Just seems like a massive oversight, surprised there's no way for the broadcasting overlay to at least support it. :D

I think what would help is a dedicated post (on the PS blog, GT.com, or anywhere else — though probably here :D ) with the breakdown of the teams/drivers.

As is, the only way you know the team lineups is if you caught the beginning of the stream. The key for a successful esport IMO is getting the viewers interested in the people. The game is secondary — if the focus is just on the game, the only people that will care to watch are fans of the game.

Also, the graphics in GT Sport look unbelievable. Gives hope that this could potentially take off as a viable racing Esport. Y'know, when the bumper car physics don't ruin the illusion.

Cue the spinning Subaru.

It certainly does look great (specifically in replays), but I feel like graphics actually matter less in terms of esports appeal. At least, I feel like the graphics of the biggest esports aren't anything to write home about!

They could easily get full EU grid without three JP machines...

Sadly but Jimmy itself has more spectators when doing random things...
And he is that speaking about racing fame - everything else is shoot me, craft me.
Thats conserving.

But this race coverage is so fantastic!
Imagine multi-class at Spa...

You're right there but since this is something emulating a real-world event, graphics probably matter to a certain extent. 👍

Alghorithm-based penalties are disables for the official races
Ah didn't know. What about csa? ^^

The two races were really good. Glad to see some of my psn friends doing really well.

The game looks immensly good. The only thing they meed to fix is the steering angle of the front wheels. Sometimes it's a bit slow. But other than that, the camera angles were awesome, the cars moved around realistically and the little details were all there.

Kudos to Kaz and PD for putting on a great event. If today's race is any indication, tomorrow should be equally as exciting if not better considering no driver changes. I can't wait til we get an event here in North America. My quess is that it would be at an IMSA race, possibly Daytona 24 Hrs or Sebring 12 Hrs. In which case would make me very happy as I live about an hour away.

Solid stream with only minimal hiccups. Good racing too! 👍

As mentioned up-thread, my main issue with it is a lack of interest from the producing team for the drivers themselves. That was one thing I think was great about the Canadian event; it actually introduced the drivers. Even a little bit of focus on them can make a race more interesting, as it kickstarts a variety of narratives; otherwise, you're just rooting for a car. I realize it's a little harder with forced driver changes, but still. At that event, there were also more driver camera shots, so that probably helped.

Will be interesting to see how the Nations Cup plays out then.

My quess is that it would be at an IMSA race, possibly Daytona 24 Hrs.

Incredibly unlikely, as IMSA has a partnership with Forza (and is a main sponsor of ForzaRC).

Alright that was great I should say 👍 As usual PD (or anyone who responsible for the stream) did a good job doing live coverage, especially the camera transition which is look neat. Also, new tyre model sure is interesting. Wet tyres coming anyone? :sly: :D

Also, we need this camera angle for replay mode  Looks fantastic in motion  :

Damn that sucks, I didn't know that as I don't have Xbox or play Forza. I just figured that's the closest we have to FIA here.

Eh, it makes sense though. America is the biggest Forza market, and Europe (where more GT3-class racing happens) is GT's. The more esports the better as far as I'm concerned. :D

They're racing in-game (on setups at the 'Ring), not on the track!

Which car should we be keeping an eye on?

Ah ok makes sense! I knew I was missing something when all those names popped up and I didn't recognize any of them

In the interest of anonymity, I won't disclose that publicly; although there are a few members here that have recognized me - one of which is here watching the race!

The briefing went well, mostly talking safety which is always fun when talking about a track nicknamed "The Green Hell." It's gonna be a fantastic race.

Well, the answer is yes :P

But I guess your real question is why Slovakia is excluded. I'm guessing that it's because there are no Slovakian players among the top 30 in Europe.
You think all of the 30 selected drivers are the top fastest? It sure didn't look like that in the race.

That was surprisingly fun to watch. PD have learned some stuff from F1's Esport championships.

The racing was pretty enjoyable to witness and it seems a lot of effort was put into this. Very good commentary and the director was fantastic. They still need a way to attract more viewers and gain traction, but consider me interested in seeing more.

The new build is intriguing. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
