Gran Turismo World Tour is happening

True but i kinda want damage cause it will be more realistic i know thats harsh but thats how real life is go big or go home.
I wouldn't mind damage (in fact there's already light damage in the FIA Races), except that the level of racing we have in Sport mode right now is too low for damage to be fun

At the top field at mid-high S/S maybe damage is a viable and possibly fun option, but not to the general public

Watched both races yesterday and was a bit suprised by how many errors and questionable moves were made by some of the guys there :boggled:
The GTR performed very good on the Ring, too bad the 3rd driver binned it and threw a safe win away :ouch:
Nice drift by @nissman tho  :D

I really liked the stream! It’s cool to hear that a new and improved tyre model is coming! And I love those new camera angles, especially the ones just behind thr front wheels! But it did reveal some low-res textures and a lot of polygonal edges, except for the Toyota and the Porsche. And this is one of my pet peeves with GT Sport: the fact that some cars are heavily downgraded for gameplay, while others get minimal downgrades, and some are barely downgraded, if at all. And all cars (with a few exceptions) look beautiful everywhere else! Let’s take the Audi R8 GT3 as an example: the R8 GT3 has a lot of visible edges when driving, but once you watch the replay, the edges are gone! This isn’t the case for the 911 RSR, the Supra and for most (if not all) cars that were revealed in 2017 and 2018 (especially the new-to-franchise cars and remodeled standard cars). It’s actually pretty frustrating.

All I can say about the new tyre model is it feels pretty natural but its about 10 times more punishing, the days of quickly snapping the wheel left to right or pretty much any aggressive motion are gone.

The cars as a result of the tyre model were 2 seconds slower at Monza and 10 seconds slower at the Ring.

That may be because it s more realistic!

Actual tire mode... grip, speed and driving agressivity on Gts is absolutely ..unrealistic!

It allows for a careless driving atitude based mostly on speed, as it makes driving at high speed very easy, and nor unrealistic, promoting this: excessice speed and careless driving... and of course .. dirty and excessively agressive driving...

Just compare with the tire model and the way the cars and drivers behave on Assetto Corsa... much more realisticly!

Yes, but many forget that GT Sport is not a "hardcore sim" and likely never will be. That is by design, which is a good thing. Polyphony (and Sony) want to cater to a wide audience of players, which means keeping the game accessible for casual players. Those of us sim-racing nuts on this site make up a small percentage of the people overall that play Gran Turismo (typically....Sport is probably different because of the online focus). Personally, I think PD do a brilliant job of offering both an accessible game but also with sim-like challenging elements for highly skilled drivers. I don't want Gran Turismo to turn into Assetto Corsa. Both games are great, but are geared to different audiences. Don't get me wrong, I love more sim elements being added, but I also get the logic behind why that is limited. It's a balancing act.

The broadcast yesterday was fantastic. I can't wait to see what PD do next in this space. It was really well done, and I thought Jimmy and his partner made a really natural broadcasting pair. Well done PD.

Honestly I dont agree with all what you saying... and I also believe that the best simulation driving game would be part GTS part AC! A mix from the 2 would become the best simulator ever! That and a better penalization system then those from both games, with more AI implementation!

I agree in most of the races im Mid to Slow driver but i do much better in the actuall race mostly cause of mistakes infront for example once with GR.4 i started 18th (although i did just one lap to not start last) & i ended up 3rd.

Why doesn't GRAN TURISMO TV keep the live streams uploaded? Is there any way to watch the races again? Because I don't really plan on staying up late just to watch the Nations Cup race tomorrow (I too am in an exam period now!).

Edit: voila...I don't understand why they would want to keep these unlisted? Maybe they will upload a highlights package or something.

It took me ages to try and find where these where being streamed. You'd think they would have plastered all over the place and in an up and coming schedule.

When I did find the link, no archive footage lol. I really want to watch the first races!

Edit: Thanks for this link by the way!

Yeah the promotion for this event was really bad. First promotion was the trailer released around monday. Not a good strategy for the first event to keep it under wraps for so long. This needed to be plastered ingame and on social media a month in advance.

The racing in that first Monza event was epic. Well done to all involved.

And Jimmy "no punterino" Broadbent doing an excellent job of commentating.

I love the coverage so far.

Agreed, but because it's not a hardcore sim, I don't think they should be allowed to advertise the game with an FIA certificate on it and use it predominantly for marketing purposes. Only a hardcore sim should be allowed to have that status.

Funny that this very choice has put them in this odd position now.

Should EA Games use FIFA as a title considering it is less of a football sim than Pro Evo. Being a 'complete sim racer' has nothing to do with it.

It felt like they were trying to go for some kind of underground pop-up marketing aesthetic. Even the promotional video was cut similar to the trailer for Nerve, so I think they had some weird non-marketing marketing idea... which sounds cool in a meeting but fundamentally doesn't really work.

The goal with FIA partnership is to bring more younger audience and new people to Motorsport. Bring a lot new young blood from casual market convert to be Motorsport fan. You think FIA just partner PD without reason. They the one looking for answer since Motorsport not very popular nowadays. If they want to go full hardcore sim they should done with rfactor 2 or they own custom sim with wheel only by now. Now only lead hardcore community to be with. You don't gain any casual player base who don't very interested in Motorsport. You don't have any growth in the community. The way PD did teach some people basic racing and braking point. It help a lot people understand on track that never done it before. The FIA want to partner with someone get a lot casual market. They not stupid they do it for the reason.

Totally agree. I'm actually kind of disappointed about the racing in the FIA-races. There are better racing in the open lobbies in Iracing, and I'm not promoting that simulator in any way. I was discussing the race with some friends that also race in real life, and they were shocked about the low standard of the drivers. Absolutely no strategy and no planning of moves. Just push the way through ...

There was only _one_ proper move during yesterdays manufacturers race: when the BMW in 2nd found an opening and used the error made by the last Nissan driver (which completely lost it because of stress) on the final lap.

I'm sure the guys are fast in hot lapping, but they suck in racing. They make Verstappen look like the cleanest driver on the planet.

Exactly this. FiA needed someone with BIG base of users. What is a better candidate for that if not GT?

Yeah, even the commentators were pretty much all the time like “I don’t know what he was thinking” :D

Well we all have to accept the fact they didn't exactly pull this through right for now. I now have 2 accounts between 65-70k and a brand new UK on 75k,someone shoot me in the leg now....

Do Playstation sub-accounts count towards being selected or are they excluded?

Sadly we all don't have access to an F1 sim...

The game could still become a sim instead of sitting on the fence between trying to keep the previous offline GT fans and focussing on FIA eSports races. PD are too busy trying to please both crowds instead of sticking to one path, doing a half-finished job for both ends of the stick. Also, Assetto Corsa isn't exactly an F1 sim. If it gets some funding, it might become a cracking sim soon or on the next-gen console.

I know the circumstances could possibly be different for yourself as a pad user if GT turned into sim. I hope you are able/offered a top-end wheel soon. You deserve it and have massive potential.

Racing is different. You can't pretend to kick a football yet in the middle of your room, can you?. At least in racing sims, you can imitate real-life racing. The only thing missing really is the G-Force.
Also, do you have to use £800 peripherals at the FIFA Interactive World Cup?

Yesterday in stream they said that criteria for 30 picks were ratings from end of April.

No matter how big or small your country is.

They were only doing teams of 4 from biggest countries and its one privilege to huge.

But if you are fast and regular, there should be no problem and need for racing under foreign flag.

Btw, looking live stream now and looks like no Nordschleife :(

Patrik Blazan is clearly a Slovakian name, racing under Hungarian flag :D does anyone know what’s his PSN ID?
