Actually - no it isn't... But you go right ahead then, I'm sure you'll be back once GT5 is released.. :dunce:

Oh, I will be back, but I'm under no illusions GT5 is the be all, and end all.

The fact is Race Pro is far superior in all departments to GT5P, other than graphics, but give me realistic engine sounds over super shiny cars any day.

Let's face it, we all know GT5 is going to be delayed until 2010/11, will not have full game damage, weather effects, and the same old flaws, it will be great, but not what is expected.

I've yet to be disappointed by a Polyphony made game, the things I want to see are not necessary for me to enjoy the games so their abscence never makes me feel disappointed with the experience.

Everyone picks their poison. Some people love graphics and the experience of competitive racing with steering wheels and simulators...others are sound freaks, and many are content driven....but that's everyone's choice. I have nothing against Race Pro...however, I've never played it, and to me, it does look like a good game. But I don't have a 360, and it's unfortunate that Simbin didn't bring it to the PS3 for competition purposes because not everyone has a 360 or a PS3, let alone both.

Me personally, I've just loved the entire experience that PD has given me since GT3, which is when I started playing the GT series. I'm happy with what I have right now...I am, like many, a little frustrated with the lack of info, but I can live with prologue for now. The sounds could be better yes...I'm an avid critic on sounds, and if you go through the sound threads in these forums, I post in a lot of them and I do many comparisons to real life all the time. They're improving, but they're are better games in the sound department in my opinion. But again, as far as an OVERALL experience in my personal life, GT has given me the best, and I will stick with that...and of course I'll try other games...I love racing in general, but I'm not going to go buy a 360 and 1 racing game to keep my appetite.

Waiting for GT5 reminds me of waiting for the PS3. A few people lose patience and jump ship. Ultimately, those with patience are rewarded :P

No, they're dead alright. DEAD LAZY AND STUPID!!!!111!one

Making everyone buy such a hideously overpriced piece of crap like GT5P and then not giving us any news about GT5 - just a bunch of lame downloads with an extra track and 30 extra cars. They're just lying, scamming, useless lamers.

WOW! BIG words these might offend PD.

What worries me about the lack of news is that in the end we always end up the same game.
let us be honest the game except the graphics is always the same, the gt mode is equal to the first gt because they don't listen the fans requests.

well said

guys, friggin CALM DOWN.

there's a couple things to take into account, here

1. the release date is one year for each version tacked on.
look at the copyright dates for the various Gran turismos
GT 96
GT2 98
GT3 A-Spec 01
GT4 05

at this rate GT5 will be out in '10...in time for the PS4
2. Polyphony may be suffering from the economic downturn like everybody else.
3. since these boards are reguarly visited, keep in mind that they're having to go through how many thousands of threads to get improvement ideas.
4. remember the botches in all the previous games? like the rush that was put on GT2, which had to be re-released 3 times just to fix coding glitches.
5. they may be having trouble negotiating vehicles from manufacturers because of the economy.

5. they may be having trouble negotiating vehicles from manufacturers because of the economy.

I would have said that would make it far easier, seeing as its Polyphony doing the paying, at least in terms of actually getting the manufacturers to sell the license, how much to pay is a different matter....

I know the mods don't let us dis Polyphony on here, but I'll be a rebel and say that I wouldn't be too surprised if PD went bankrupt.

I mean they have more employees working more hours than ever before (something PD says themselves) and they're selling less product than ever (so says wikipedia, which I believe.) They're certainly in this to make the best game if nothing else.

No, you can have an opinion, its just you can't expect a repetitive opinion stated several thousand times already to be well recieved and treated the same as it was the first time.
Its not like these are Polyphony's official forums or something. (and even if they were, they wouldnt tell you off for criticsing them).

Unless you sample the competition, you won't know what you're missing.

You can bet every feature WE hope is in GT5 will be delivered in Forza 4, why, because Forza are after GT's crown, they can sense PD are resting on their laurels and taking their fanbase for granted.

When you also add Simbins Race Pro and PS3 title, Supercar Challenge, Codemasters F1, Dirt II and Fuel, and Blimeys NFS:Shift, PD are taking PS3 users for granted if they believe they'll come running to GT5, as all of the above have the potential to surpass GT5, it's odds on at least one will hit the jackpot.

It would be great if PD says something about GT5, or show some screenshot...
But let's have patience. KY said that it will be a surprise.
Good thinks makes you waiting.

The surprise will be that at the end the game have always the same defects : poor IA, no damage, always the same GT mode, useless photomode ecc ecc.

Odd, no one in this thread has been banned or threatened with even as much as a warning, and the "Polyphony Digital Are You Listening" thread is still open too, as well as this one.

Yep, obviously dissing PD is not allowed at all or you get banninated and have your threads shut down.

You still don't have the extremely varied and detailed car collection that has made Gran Turismo my favorite driving game.

Yes, some of these other games have equal or better features, but the car selection is one of my all-time favorite aspects of the game, and the fact that it has a respectably good physics engine to boot just adds to that.

As long as I have that varied car selection and a non-arcade physics engine I am happy.

And before someone says it: No Prologue does not have the car selection I would like, but it is varied and not just all super cars. Plus, I understood what Prologue meant and knew what I was buying. And it has the GTI version of my car, which is nearly what I most wanted (my exact car would have been nice).

But of course we do - We just haven't realised yet...

Fact: What we know is jack removed by mod * - and that's it..

* Come on. You know you can't do that....

If that were even remotely true then this thread wouldn't even exist.

Now aside from the inherent risk of using wiki as a 100% believable source of information, one little bit of info makes it highely unlikely that PD are going to go bust.

The rather important information is that they are and always have been a 100% Sony owned studio, as a first party studio they are only likely to cease to exist if either SCE go under or Sony closes the studio (as as PD make on of Sony's biggest selling franchises that's unlikely).

What surprises me most about this thread is that anyone is actually surprised at a lack of information about a GT release or a long development time for a GT release. Its been exactly the same way since the very first Gran Tursimo and to be honest is unlikely to change.

Agreed - we heard stuff-all for months on end before the release of previous GT titles, it's just that the scale involved has changed somewhat (complexity of PS3 programming, likely features, licensing etc). I'm confident that GT5, when it arrives, will be nothing short of amazing.

Here's to hoping you're wrong. I mean, with such a long development time, they MUST be cooking something completely different, right?

I like this guys line of thinking 👍

Well, that is news to the entire moderating staff. I complain about PD and flaws in the GT series regularly. What we won't let people do is start many many duplicate threads complaining about failures in the still-UNreleased game, just because everyone is so bursting for some little tidbit of information that they're about to pee themsleves.

The entire point is that the game will be released when it is released. As has been said, PD can't please everybody - and a certain number of people will just be angry and disappointed no matter WHAT Polyphony Digital does.

It's not that no one is allowed to diss PD here. It's just that there are much more constructive ways to fill the time than to recite the same litany of complaints over and over again.

Well I respectfully disagree, I remember with GT4 atleast every gameshow within atleast 1-2 years of GT4 release had GT4 or GT4P content. E3 and TGS were bustling with new gameplay videos, pictures and usually atleast one interview (remember the interviews where KY said there would a a drift mode?). I remember clearly scouring all the videos and pictures looking for traces of new cars, tracks and features.

Now days pictures and videos are far and few between and the last whole bunch of Gameshows have almost been a complete no show for Gran Turismo besides generic GT5P gamestands with no extra content.

but I am not complaining (I would love some screenies though), I know it is coming.

How in the world has "we need info" and "you'll just have to wait" stretched out to five pages? Anyone wanna write my book review for history class? Close the topic already, especially if this has been brought up several times before.
