We used to get the 3 valver in 5.4L form in the Fairlane G220. We now only have the 4 valve 5.4L Quad Cam motor in GT's, XR8's.

I'm actually surprised that apart from the Ford GT and now the Shelby 'Stangs, the USA hasn't used the 5.4/QOHC combination more.

Yes and the Corba R had a 5.4 duel overhead cam motor

It's been a long while but I remember seeing articles about our BA Falcon XR8 QOHC being the first 5.4L QOHC by Ford when they first came out, that was 2003.

I know we're going off track (but that's 1/4 of the reason for my garage, it's open slather!! :P) but isn't there different versions of each?? Like the GT's head is different to the Mustangs head which is different to the Navigator head which is different to the XR8 head. Like the old GT40 heads that were better than normal.

Yeah, there's about 4 different head designs I do believe.

Also the XR8 would not have been the first DOHC 5.4, just the first used in Aus.

No, it was the first to use this particular head design. That head then went onto the Ford GT Supercar. I'll search for it but in the meantime, test my rides fairies!! :P

*added bit* From wikipedia, we're both 1/2 right. :P

The new V8 was a modified version of Ford's North American Modular V8 available in two variants: the Barra 220 generating 220 kilowatts (300 hp) and a 260 kilowatts (350 hp) Boss 260.[15] The new engine was smoother, more fuel efficient, and quieter than the engine it replaced.

It was a modified head for us based on the modular DOHC. ;)

At least there is a Holden in your new garage.:P But more seriously, it's good to see you have a wide range of different vehicles in your launch, from muscle cars, to luxury, to work horses to import tuners.

Thanks Paulie, that's pretty much what I'm trying to do, cover all bases each time. For instance, I'm not launching cars 1 by 1, I'll be doing batches to continue covering all bases at the same time. The next batch will concentrate more on the Japanese market but will still have a splash of everything.

ETA of batch #2.......dunno.

If you truly wanted to be realistic with your factory tunes they'd all be on either N3 or S1 tyres (In GT5 at least it seems that S1 tyres provide more realistic times for Supercars).

The Clubsport was originally built to run on N3's and get almost exact same times down the 1/4 and a little bit slower around GVS. I tuned the SRT-8 on S2's aswell.

But I didn't see too many S1 tyred cars at Aussie Tuners either. ;)

I never atempted to make production car replicas, more like improved production.:P

It's only something I've learnt in GT5 recently and may only apply to GT5 and the current physics.

If I may ask, how do you know the lap time of a real Clubsport around GVS?

wow Mafs, now that's what I call Big Biz.., as RJ said, "Welcome to hell".., :dopey:

GME Clubsport. An all Aussie review by CamryFan.

The new tuners are coming thick and fast these days, all wanting to make a name for themselves,. One such tuner company is Grease Monkey Engineering (GME). With a 19 car launch and more cars on the way there's plenty to choose from with your choice in factory tunes or race tunes. Not feeling that interested in race car's I took GME's tribute to the SS Commodore, the Clubsport.

A lot has been changed under the skin of the SS. Power has been upped from 326hp to 370 hp, a brand new drivetrain has been installed with a brand new gearbox and limited slip differential and new suspension and swaybars and it all amounts to a serious difference.

I took my hire car once again too the little backsreets of Deep Forest in order to see what this heavy muscle car could do on the winding roads. Before we get started I would like to say that I had a pre-conceived idea of what I was expecting, buckets and buckets of oversteer drift action and that's precisely what I didn't get. Hat's of to GME though, while nothing is radical or that different to the SS the improvements do show. The SS is rather unruly, slow to react and shifts it's weight around in a rather unpredictable way. The GME Clubsport fixes all of the problems that the SS had. Everything happened which I should logically expect to happen, the turn in was tight and precise, it was a little lazy on the change of direction but a slight adjustment to driving style fixed that. While all very nice to drive I couldn't help but become a little bored with it, my preconceived idea of oversteer was no where to be found and when I pushed the car I mostly found understeer.

However as I have tried to illustrate the car is actually very well balanced and removes the problems associated with the standard SS. Factory balance it is then.

Thanks for the review CamryFan. 👍 It seems that you forgot the oil change, it actually bumps it up to 388hp or the 285Kw it's supposed to be (stock w/oil is 257Kw/343hp). That tiny change is what takes it over the edge, but I'm glad you enjoyed the ride and understand my 'factory balance' concept for my road cars. :)

Same rules apply as the other garages, let me know what you want tuned via PM and I'll try and sort you out mate. 👍

Ahh, Well that explains it then. I always forget the oil change on new vehicles, Doh!But I was happy to review a car.

Another batch of cars!! :D

In order it's like this:
1. Re-adjust the 3 cars I wasn't satisfied with at launch (Piazza, Mazda 2, Integra DC5R).

2. Work on next batch of cars. I've already worked out one, maybe two BMW's will be in there in race division, a Lexus in Road division and a couple of weird surprises like the MFT Mad Files (don't worry Greycap & Leo, I've DELIBERATELY STAYED AWAY from using those cars you guys already did!!). :P

3. Work on drag division. Yes, I will have a drag division, something that's missing in all other garages. 💡 Why else would I save that spot at the top of Page 2?? ;)

The requirements of my drag cars to be shown to the public:
1. ALL OF MY MODERN FF'S MUST RUN 11.999 OR QUICKER!!
2. ALL OF MY MODERN AWD'S MUST RUN 7.999 OR QUICKER!!
3. ALL OF MY MODERN RWD'S MUST RUN 8.999 OR QUICKER!!
4. ALL OF MY RETRO CARS (Pre-84) MUST RUN 10.999 OR QUICKER!!

I wonder what the word modern have to do with being fast?
I believe most pre 1984 run sub 10's and only few cars sub 250BHP will not make it to the 11's
(FF's won't obviously run sub 11's ,but almost all others do)

Heh,
I asked to be a drag specialist at tu-bit-ning garage last year.
but unfortunately gibson hadto retire for school works.
So that killed the idea eventually.

:D You're not the only one to think about it 👍

I'm thinking of launching a drag racing garage someday,
since I alredy have 75+ tunes ready for it :D
Maybe It'll be happening when I reach 100+ tunes
(Possibly the biggest garage launch ever)

Think about it Max, I've got 3 YEARS worth of drag tunes I can put up, there's 27 in FF alone that are 11sec runners, then another 25 for FR that are sub-9's, a few for AWD and another 10 for MR/RR and I'm only looking at the road car side of things. ;)

I'm concentrating on the circuit side of things with my new releases however, the drag division will essentially be a tutorial section for new guys to get into things and to give them a springboard to improve on. You can't go wrong when you have the current AWD record holder and only FF drag racer in GT4 to go 11.60's with more than 5 cars helping you start out with ready to race leaderboard setting rides.

To tell you the truth Maxie, you remind me of me when I first started tearing up the FF drag records. :D:D:D I always admire your persistence with your drag tunes and see you have hit a sweet spot with your setup that is almost untouched in all categories. The only FF driver with 2 different 11.5 setting cars, something even I haven't done yet, and being only the second person in the 11.4's there. 👍

Anyway, back to topic.......most pre-84's that ARE NOT AMERICAN won't hit sub-10's. ;) I've got a crapload of retro cars that are under 250hp that struggle to get a 10. I'll give you some examples:
'83 Lancer EX Turbo IC.
'81 Piazza XE
'70 Celica GT 1600
'68 Isuzu Bellett
'70 Triumph Spitfire
'79 Nissan 1800SSS

All of those struggle to get more than 200hp, let alone 250hp. I could get the Alpine 110S and get a 9, or the BMW 2002, that does 9.9's fully worked on it's standard 4 speed gearbox but they are well over the 300hp mark. :D You'll see what I come out with and think "Well, that was different, I didn't know they could go so well!!" ;)

I believe I have pretty good "feel" for the car's in GT4 for predicting their capabilities on drag racing.
As for now, the AWD's and MR's dominate the drag strip, FR's and RR's coming close behind. And finally FF's ofcourse.

I was thinking more of cars like Toyota sports '66 (based on long term memory),
which I gave a go last year. (don't remember the max bhp/ quorter mile time exactly)
But that car was just dissapointing..
I believe it didn't even break the 12 second barrier..

Oh, I almost forgot:

Good luck with your garage 👍
May it shine now and forever!!

Try the Honda S500/600/800's. They're fun for the 1/4. ;) And don't forget the Daihatsu Midget II, a 12sec car with under 100 engine hp. :D And for something else different, get the 2WD Daihatsu Sirion to do 12's, it's an exercise in Pro Stock gear control. ;)

Thanks bro. 👍

Thanks RJ. ;)👍

Get a 300mph tune going up on Dark Elite's leaderboard then we'll talk vipertamer.

Seperate issues guys.
1. A new video is in my 1st post, just for a giggle. ;)
2. I am attempting to break the 400.01km/h FF record for road cars and also attempting 250mph in the Integra Touring Car. 👍 This tune will be available for everyone if I get it, it won't be like the SRT tune, that's my special baby!! :D
