@PJTierney I did send a specific request didn't I ....... Peugeot.....just wondering how you are going to redeem yourself?!?!?!? ;)

Hehehe joking aside, I think the carlist is fantastic. A lot of variety with some excellent cars. Very happy indeed with the launch list :)

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition for PS4/PS5 but apparently it's only possible to pre-load on PS5(?) althought I don't have a PS5 yet. On my PS4 library I can't find any sign of GRID Legends.
Well semi related to that, I also did preorder PS4/PS5 deluxe editions of both GT7 and Horizon Forbidden West, they both did show up on my PS4 library (I don’t own a PS5 yet either).

In the case of GRID Legends I don’t know, my main platform is Xbox so any third party title (like my GRID Legends preorder) goes there. 😏

With the car list updated, this is what is missing and what we get compared to GRID 2019 :

AcuraDPi
DodgeChallenger SRT Modified
HondaCivic FD2
HondaCRX MightyMouse
HondaNSX-GT
HondaS2000 Modified
Plymouth‘Cuda AAR Modified
RenaultClio S1600

Of that missing list there seems to be a issue with Honda/Acura. Also note that the Clio S1600 (2nd gen Clio) isn’t the same car as the Clio Cup car we’re getting (4th gen Clio I think). And I’m not sure if the list is final or not, at the bottom of the page it still says this:
We will have a couple more vehicles coming to GRID Legends at launch on February 25. Additional vehicles will be added to the game post-launch for those with the Deluxe version of the game.

The last 6 cars on that list are 4 exclusive preorder cars and 2 exclusive deluxe edition cars (hence the official car list doesn’t indicate the deluxe edition cars at all, yet the info on the deluxe edition clearly says the Voltz pack is exclusive and that those 2 cars (R8 1:1 and Golf GTI) are in it. @PJTierney maybe something to clear out?

The full list for GRID Legends so far is at 124 cars, that’s quite impressive knowing that GRID 2019 launched with 66 cars and ended up at 82 cars after the 3 seasons of content. So they managed to almost double it.

One new car that stands out for me is the 2021 Alfa Romeo Gulia GTAm (picture below). While Forza seems to have lost the Alfa Romeo license, Codemasters doesn’t seem to have any issues in adding a brand new one to the game. And what a beauty it is! 🤩

And in the electric department I’m mostly looking forward to not the Taycan, not the Evija, but this one below, the 2018 Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy.

I even own that one in real life, albeit a little smaller. 😆

That’s very much possible, I had the time attack CRX MightyMouse already added to my spreadsheet so it’s been spotted in a video somewhere. Still, we’re a week away from release so it would be really odd that the full car roster for release isn’t set in stone yet.

This is also an oddity:
  • McLaren M8D*
*name not final
Like… the car will be in the game but they don’t know yet if they can use the McLaren brand? Let’s hope it won’t become a Jupiter M8D or something similar (which they might do with the CRX MightyMouse as well).

Well I guess in a week we will find out. 😏

I think all the Honda from Grid 2019 was seen either during races or at least in the car class selection thumbnail, NSX GT500 was even shown during the only livestream Codemasters did back in January.

I hope those cars will be there by launch.

I doubt it will turn Jupiter but maybe Mclaren wanted to confirm it is a M8D. There seem to be many variants of the Mclaren M8 ranging from A to F.

Hang on, there are still a few cars to be announced? I thought this was the full and final list for launch. Confused....

Scrolls back......

Ah yes I see now. On launch day itself a few more cars. I've read somewhere a while back the game would launch with over 130 cars so that is a figure that still stands then.

Buy at launch? My head says no... my gaming thumbs say yes yes yes.

I can feel myself starting to cave with 5 days left to go.
My heart says later on this year when it goes on sale but my head says you have a bonus coming next month and it will fit nicely on that new 2TB SSD I plan on buying

As a previous Codemasters customer, I fully expect those 8 "missing" cars to reappear as paid DLC 💩

I’m also a previously hardcore PC gamer (90s and 00s with games like DAoC, Age of Empires, UT and WOW just to name a few) but around 2013 made the switch to console and gaming from a sofa in front of a big TV. I haven’t regretted that decision even one day. ☺️ Also dabbed into a sim racing rig (connected to my old Xbox One), into 3D gaming (with those 3D glasses) and PS VR but I always end up just sitting in the sofa in front of my TV as my most enjoyed experience. :)

I don’t own a PS5 yet (and will wait for a PS5 Slim/Pro/whatever version that isn’t as ugly and bulky as the standard PS5) but I heard good things about the Dual Sense controller. I pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West (I totally loved Zero Dawn) and GT7 for my PS4 Pro but those versions that also include the PS5 edition, for the future. Both those games also support the dual sense and in case of Forbidden West I heard great things about it.
Yeah, I am definitely heading that way and going back to console/TV/couch as I get older. I will keep the PC plugged in via hdmi for Xbox exclusives only I think now. I absolutely love the PS5 and it's dual sense strong feedback especially the adaptive triggers on weapons and car accelerator etc and even Dirt 5 makes a difference to the PC version.
Horizon FW is superb, the graphics are stunning and yes you get the free upgrade to PS5 when ready. I picked up the PS5 disc version though as didn't want to download it all and have PS4/5 mixed games again as it can get annoying as it sometimes wants to download the PS4 edition again even if you keep deleting it.

Tried for a few hours on EA Play. Insanely disappointed. Basically 2019 but with a boring setpiece story mode.

Career mode is rearranged a bit to look more interesting but it's even more dull.

Still can't change sponsors and now you can't even change your own driver number outside of story.

Not sure who asked for this game. Feels like it's for no one.

Can't hire another teammate, just a skill tree outside of career.

Collisions are insanely dampened. Damage model is still neutered.

Setting up custom races is confusing.

The menus are atrocious, I keep wanting to back out but I get "go back to Windows?" prompts.

Replays are laughably flat.

Driving model feels even worse than last time.

Why all the levels and XP and bars?

What even happened here?

Did you slept under a rock or never played any of the Grid games ? Sry I'm just wondering about your findings and that you dislike the handling. Imo handling is what 2019 nailed it with the Grid feeling except the ice curb nonsens :D

It seems I will get this on sale just like with Grid 2019.

Bring on GT7!!

I tried the trial and really liked the game so far. Chill, arcade racer. Never expected more of it. Hopefully they bring more sprint tracks via dlc.

Where do I find the trial on Xbox? It does not show in the gamepass section?
In “My games & apps” > “Full library” > “EA Play”

The top row should have a tab call “Game trials”.

I think game trials don’t show in game pass, just full games added to game pass or EA Play.

Yeah the car list made me cautious of this game and i was right in thinking its not a full price game more like a its on sale on psn for $5.99

Well of course I haven’t played it yet… but

”Basically 2019 but with a boring setpiece story mode.“
=> I welcome the story mode and even look forward to it even though I know it’s very cringy. It’s something completely new that will sure spice up the singleplayer content. For the rest, I’m also fine with a game that feels mostly like 2019 but with more tracks, more cars, more modes. And that seems to be what we are getting.

“Still can't change sponsors and now you can't even change your own driver number outside of story.”
“Can't hire another teammate, just a skill tree outside of career.”
”Replays are laughably flat.”
=> Those are 3 things I honestly couldn’t care less about. I played the heck out of GRID 2019 the last weeks to finish all the season content before this friday and I never watched a replay, never cared about sponsors or changing my driver number and never wanted to change my teammate. 🤷‍♂️

=> I watched a lot of GRID Legends videos and I liked how the menus/UI looked or how custom races are created now. All subject to interpretation of the individual I guess, I’ll see what I think about it myself in a few days.

It might take a couple of years for it to hit that. I think when they have the deluxe edition for $25 it will be worth it for me

Played it on Xbox Series X for about 1,5 hours on my 1440P monitor.

It was set to 120HZ as a standard. I found it too much of a downgrade in graphical settings.
The strange thing is that I could not toggle the setting down to 60HZ. I needed to quit the game and switch to 60HZ in the options of the XBOX.

After that it looked a lot better and 60 FPS just looks fine.

Played about 10 chapters of the Storymode. The cutscenes look nice but the overall experience feels more like throwing some different scenarios at you. It feels like an arcademode.

The handling feels more planted than Grid 2019. I like it, but I did need to max out all the FFB sliders on the Xbox controller.
It felt a little lacking in that area. There is not really a sensation of feeling Torque under throttle but there is strong feeling of feedback when hitting bumps and under braking/sliding. It is something to get used to I guess.

The racing itself is pretty good with lots of action on screen and cars spinning out. I did need to increase the AI to Expert to have a challenge. There is also a Legend setting.

The audio had some strange preset going on in the default mode.. Engine sound on 6 and music etc on 10....
With the correct settings the audio is very enjoyable with some nice uplifting Metal to hype things up.

I can't really say anything about the graphics because I need to hook the Xbox up to my 4k HDR TV for that.

The menu is kind of confusing. Every mode seems to be intertwined and leading up to the same XP and money.

My first impression was a little dissapointing (I had this with Grid 2019 as well) but after correcting some settings and playing some more there is actually a pretty enjoyable experience to be had.

I will be receiving the disc version Friday and I will dive into the career while playing on my TV. I see myself having fun with this.

Story mode is 36 chapters long and it seems like each chapter is a race with specific objective and no races in between chapters, the separate career mode looks similar in structure to Grid 2019. There is a sponsor selection, you can only pick one and it comes with a set of objective which is somewhat similar to Dirt 5.

AI seems slightly better than Grid 2019 for me, handling is not bad but feels a little too grippy at times. Visually looks pretty good too.

I'll probably pick it up when photo mode is added and it is on sale.
