GT 6 (False advertising)

The closest thing I could find on it was this.

You mentioned the Senna content in May, can you give us any sort of timeline as to when we can expect the other major features to be released, such as the Course Maker, online community features, etc.?
Yamauchi
“We don’t have a definite order yet of things, but, you know, January, February, March, April, May, etc., we have updates planned for each of those months, and there are actually more things too which we still can’t mention! [Laughs.]"

I do recall something else along the lines of "year of updates" but that could have been a misinterpretation of a vague comment, as usual.

Unless there is real competition, PD will never improve and consumer feedback will never be taken seriously
.

Sadly I think you right. GT games seem to be developed in a vacuum largely ignoring requests from the community choosing instead to concentrate on implementing Kaz's evolving vision whatever it might happen to be at the time. This old school approach doesn't seem to align with where the industry is headed, e.g., EQNext and PCars.

I'm sure some people would probably say along the lines of "don't like it, don't buy it". Not sure about Forza, never played it and don't know how their series are progressing in terms of fan request/feedback etc. That's why I said that I'm really hoping that PCars do turn out to be great competition. I know that it will never have a car catalogue as huge a Gran Turismo Series but this strategy is really getting old. I'm not going to point out the issues with most of which are variants of the same model and that half of the cars don't even have interiors and the horrifying engine sounds which still baffles me to this day that Kaz signed off on releasing the game like this.

Like many of us, I'd been playing the entire series for a long time now. I do hope that we'll all be playing GT10 in the future. But with the way things are going, you do wonder that if it's even worthwhile investing any more time on GT7 when it comes out on PS4.

They're misleading at the absolute minimum.
I don't see how that is the case given it is labelled as a GT6 concept movie officially. We know current sounds are placeholders only if they make a breakthrough in getting new sound engine to work.

Really, placeholders? Supposedly there were "rumours" that they were going to address it back in February update. We're heading in May already and god only knows how long this game and the servers will stay online. If GT 7 does make it's way to PS4 in late 2015, that means even less resources will be allocated to address any of these issues with GT6 which they'll probably consider as improvements then anything.

I haven't heard such rumours, I thought they will show it off only once they got something of high quality to show. Work on GT7 hopefully will filter down to GT6. It would be good also if servers stay online at least as long as GT5 did.

Even the fake/false sounds are wrong...

Can PD do anything right? :odd:

One can only hope so. Forget all the stock/standard cars, even just the racing/tuned cars would be a start. I hope they're not indulging themselves wasting time creating a tractor mission after having fun creating the Lunar Mission. And I bet the tractor will probably sound like a lawnmower on GT6

Anyone recall if GT5 sounds were as poor? Thought it should be a straightforward port or is the sound completely re-designed/re-developed from the ground up?

All they had to do with the Corvette Race car and all the V8 race cars, like the BMW Z4 GT3 was to copy and paste the NASCAR sounds and they'd be 90% accurate to real life. There are 3 different sounding NASCARs per year for 3 years. That's 9 accurate sound samples of V8's they could have used but no, they use a dyson in a wind-tunnel instead...

I don't think my point is false advertising however as it doesn't say on the box "Authentic, accurate car sounds" so we can't call them on that. But it is all a bit lazy and even a possible, even lazier solution wasn't done.

There are other good V8 samples as well. Ford GT, Ford GT LM, the Lexus IS-F(at least it used to), Viper Team Oreca and others come to mind. Obviously it's too much work for PD to copy and paste a perfectly good sound sample and easier to leave the original PS2 sample in. Says a lot about PD doesn't it?

Even their announcements for "future" updates are false, misleading and unclear...

Isn't GT7 technically a future update on GT6?

That's just emphasising my point really. Clearly the new GT6 cars (most of them) have new sampled sounds. I've never heard a "car"sound like the BMW Z4 GT3 and the M3 GT2 before so they are recording stuff, and badly. Just copy and pasting any of the mentioned sound samples by you or me would create a more realistic version of the car they're making.

You should definitely try other options, though that won't necessarily help you to appreciate Gran Turismo more (for me, playing FM4 only put the shortcomings of GT5 and GT6 under a bigger microscope ;) GT6 is broken in so many baffling ways, and now the Academy is part of the game so it suffers from the same issues. And the more real racing I do, the less I can tolerate those problems in my racing games. I just bought a spanky new computer and if it does a good job running the PC Sims, my interest in Gran Turismo is really in trouble.

Sorry, but to me, using placeholder sounds for promoting a game that is still stuck with the same old bad engine sounds six months later is the very definition of false advertising - and the fact that they felt the need to dub different sounds than what's in the game means they know the sounds they have are embarrassing to say the least.

That's what I was doing was emphasizing your point:cheers: Even a slightly inaccurate but good sounding V8 would be far, far better than the rubbish sound samples they actually picked. In fact they are so bad that I'm not sure I'd even call them sound samples. Many of the new cars I won't even drive because the sounds are just so awful it totally breaks the immersion for me.

I know you were mate. 👍 :D

Yeah it's the same for me. I love the BMW Z4 GT3, it's my favourite car in the game but I grind my teeth every time I hear it. Which is such a shame.

They are not using placeholder sounds (This is what they labelled current sounds as) to promote the game but sounds they want in the game to show what their intention is. Remains to be seen if they can pull it off though.

...and where is it stated in the video that the sounds won't be in the vanilla game? It isn't, so yes, it's misleading.
Where in the video does it state that the sound is representative of the vanilla game? It is labelled as a concept movie so don't see how it is misleading when it is simply just that.

Pretty simple really, it's advertising Gran Turismo 6 gameplay, people are going to expect just as the visuals are from Gran Turismo 6 that the sounds will be as well.

No, it doesn't state either way and that again is why it's misleading. Not false advertising, misleading.

C'mon, you aren't going to hang your hat on a technicality are you? Without an included caveat an average person would assume what they see and hear is what they will get yes?

Edit: tree'd

If we get into technicalities that taking something not at face value leads to us being mislead then yes. However if you take it at face value then it is not misleading.

giving the wrong idea or impression.

If that trailer isn't giving people the wrong impression of the sounds in Gran Turismo 6 I don't know what else it can be described as.

Oh yes, GTAV where you couldn't even play online for a month.

And that was in from the start on GTA4, so it should have been there from the beginning truth be told...

Which was a direct result of the sheer amount of people all trying to get online at once. Rockstar also publicly stated that they were aware and tirelessly working to get it fixed. They also gave everyone 1,000,000(IIRC) credits to apologize for the inconvenience and made the first DLC pack free. GTA online also now works as it should.

GT6 still has broken features and the online is still badly broken, with no statement by PD that they're even aware of what's still broken let alone that they are working to fix them.

I'd have gone for "not being included in the game until it was updated 2 weeks after launch" myself.

And after that, yes you're right, it just didn't work - requiring another patch. Currently the online is torn apart by hackers and script kiddies - though that's not exactly exclusive to GTA.

It is up to person viewing to decide if they want to mislead themselves like I mentioned in my last post, if taken at face value they won't be mislead.

Because GT's never needed a patch to fix something after a patch... Oh wait, sometimes it needs more than one, almost forgot.

OH SNAP

Neatly proving my original counterpoint that GT6 is little different from billion dollar multiplatform franchise like GTAV. Same page FTW.

Well the more I watch that video the more the audio doesn't make sense, so I guess in a way you're right. How many different engine tones was that?
