i will not know how much laps he did in the TT. :sly:

his fastest lap at the Nurb was one second faster then A.Lacombe, (the french winner) 7:29 vs 7:30. :)

do it Jerry, do it. :D

Thanks for posting a different view of the portuguese incident on turn 1, Owen. đź‘Ť

Take note all, the driver of the black car was using 'kiddie view' and therefore had a clear view of his surroundings.

Your welcome. Although it seems his fault, it looks like he just braked late and had nothing to do, full brakes and as close as he could to the barrier, but I'll let you guys try and decipher it.

Well that video shows it all:scared:! He should be ashamed! Why rush in like that?! Maybe the nerves...

EDIT: Thanks Owen! Thats the view we were all looking for;)!

note that P1, P2, P3 braked +/- at the same time .... and I followed the normal path behind P1.. It was impossible for me to see P4 in the mirror and as P3 is behind, I never thought P4 would throw himself that way into 1st corner... i know(i really want to believe) it was not deliberate but still.. :ouch: restart was definatly the way and i wouldnt want anyone penalized.. just wanted that they let me do a clean race..

Whoever the black car was owes you the hugest apoligy.

Way too deep under brakes and plowed straight into you. Should have let you re-pass them.

Please don't tell me it was the same car in the 2nd incident you had as well??!! :nervous:

I dont blame you bro! It WAS the FINAL:ouch:! If you could keep your cool i bet you would catch the P1 guy and win anyway... The heat of the moment is very difficult to overcome most of the times! BOOOOOO to that guy:tdown:!

Instead of posting a one liner, perhaps you could post in more detail why you feel a thumbs down was necessary?
I thought it would be obvious that using the driving line in the GT Academy is not appropriate.
They are looking for the one to become a real race driver. Reality has no driving line and that way it should in the "real driving simulator".

In the warm up they were given braking markers and apex cones aswell as shift cones. It's unfair on people who hadn't driven some circuits like Tokyo (Like one user said before).

I'd like to show you guys one last video, this one is also a really great race, it's the Nurburgring race from Group1 of the semi-final.
In this race May finishes 1st and hunter_4_6 (the portuguese winner) is 2nd

Nice nurburgring video, I wish they had that track in the Australian final.
Yes. They were very lucky to be able to run that track. Apparently it was in the build that NZ received, but I suppose they might have thought 'us down here' might not be familiar with the track. I think everyone i talked to rated it as their favourite, me included.

Great video, the track looks great:tup:. Shame about the punt on the blue car at 2.26 though đź‘Ž

IMO, that wasn't really a punt/contact worth a thumbsdown. The blue car (MAY) overshot the turn and unexpectedly braked at the last moment to keep it on the road, leaving the car behind with nowhere to go really, as he entered the corner at a much more ideal speed. If he braked he would have likely made contact anyway (as his car was already a bit airborn and sideways from hopping the curbing), while risking a pile up behind them.

Luckily in the end, this accident had no impact on the result for this particular race, which is the most important part of course đź‘Ť

Well that's always easy to say in hindsight. If I was in that situation, I know I wouldn't be pulling over and waiting for my opponent when they almost have an off/or do have an off, while allowing everyone else to catch up

That early into the race you want to try and pull out as much of a lead as possible, otherwise you risk having a 4-way Nascar race leading onto the long straight, which sounds like a game of Russian roulette to me :scared:

Well, according to the precedent set by the Aus and NZ final, I would just assume ram everyone off the road. đź‘Ž Off with their heads!

I would take russian roulette over head to head with MAY anyday!

is it just me, or in the Portugese final that MAY put up from the P3 view, is the black car not on the brakes the whole time he comes into view. i cant see any brake lights at all and seems to keep on it when he is running into MAY.

once again, no brake lights.

MAY i think i owe you an apology. I may have been too quick to judge what I had seen of the incident. With this new footage black car most definitely at fault here.

Unfortunately i still have to disagree about the restarts. Redressing positions (within a certain timeframe) and pit lane penalty is about as far as it should go.

I also think the finals setup is a little dubious. I think a points based system would have been better instead of knockout. Having a mini championship of 4 player battles with the highest point scorer across all tracks given the gong.

Placing more emphasis on consistency meaning incidents like this are more a test of salvaging points than turning into a stain on the competition.

edit: this also means across all tracks, drivers are less advantaged by track knowledge, making it a fairer playing field when picking raw talent.

I have a question for you all. I am in the UK final next week, but I don't know the Tokyo 246 course, is the general concensus that it would be OK for me to use the driving line? I think it's a bit pointless and sad if you know the circuit, but I'm thinking there is no point me doing it without the line as I don't even know whether the road turns left or right LOL

The best thing to do would be play gt4, if you dont have it then perhaps watching it a few times on youtube will help, then try visualise it with your eyes closed.

I have GT4 kicking around somewhere, but I haven't played it since my PS2 blew up in 2004 (my PS3 isn't one of the backward compatible ones). I'll have to try and track down some youtube vids :)

Also, just watching that Nurburgring race from the portugal event, it's in the 'normal' Z, but would very much seem to be on R1 tyres. Can anyone confirm if N3 were used during any finals or were all races on R1 rubber? Not really fussed, just interested to know :)

You can't be sure that you will be allowed to use the driving line! It depends on the UK organisation.
If you feel you have a shot at winning the event, believe me you must practice the circuit on GT4 or you don't stand a chance against the ones who know it well. And Nurburgring also. :)

No chance of that happening, don't know anyone with a PS2 anymore. :(
