GT game must make us aware of climate change and also driving safely.

I took a Prius around the Nordschleife today in GTPSP. I swear; I could see the trees swinging with approval. :)

I think tetris ought to make us aware of falling blocks.

I doth my cap to thee good sir, I fear the realities of falling blocks and the strategic relevance of their emerging patterns simply isn't taken seriously these days.

One day, there will be no T pieces left, and we'll all be up the straight block without a square. Heavens forbid should the poor bloke down the road lose half his block because a lopsided L fell next to it...

But seriously, WTF? A game is meant to be entertaining, or it was the last time I checked... Since when was climate change and safe driving even mildly interesting in the world of automobiles?

This is a driving enthusiasts game, and some of you appear to be confusing a driving simulator with a real world simulator... What next, politics? My suggestion would be go create a thread similar to this on PistonHeads and see how long it takes before you get lynched... If it's longer than a few minutes, then the world has defiantly gone mad, and these kind of features might have a future in GT...:nervous:

gimme 8, 10,12, or more cylenders of exaust pumping iron, let some fool in a Prius leave dozens of pounds of contaminated lead from their batteries behind when their politics move on to some other feelgood issue of the day.

Hell yeah. Gran Turismo, the real Petrolhead driving simulator. 👍

LOL Nice one . Were the trees looking realist ? :sly:

we should definitely have bicycles in GT5.... that way our emission are zero. We could even have a little mini game were you pick the trash from the grand stands after the fans have left and the best thing is sorting the trash into glass, paper, plastic, metal and organic to put it into separate bins.

Ive got loads of ideas for mini games:

Create your own no-smoking ads.
A game where you beat up muscle and suv owners with recyclable bats.
Real driving license theory test.
lecturing students of road safety.
Putting fluorescent jackets on kids as fast as you can.
How little can you drink before driving, the guy who wins gets a virtual hug....

i could go on....

I don't remember, I fell asleep.

Even more when you're bicycling.
I think that actually may be faster around the Ring than that Prius I drove yesterday.

Anyway, the Prius is not a bad car to drive actually, you hardly have to brake in most corners and it corners quite nicely; a little understeer, but I expected more (call me insane, but yes, I really did take it around the Ring). But from a game/racing perspective it was just plain boring (or maybe I shouldn't have done a lap with a GT-R SpecV before running the Prius).

Yeah driving a GT-R before getting in the Prius makes it impossible for the poor Prius to be appealing.:D
But then again, the first Car I drive round the Nurburg in GT5 will more than likely be very slow....I want a chance to take in the scenery.👍

It is an interactive encyclopedia and simulation so it should simulate what reality is. Green cars is the future and oil will be gone soon. We have to face that
As I have said before, there is no problem with including "green" cars. Tesla, Chevy Volt, etc can all be put in the game, as they exist and are just another car.

What I don't get is what you are wanting the game to do to simulate the supposed "soon" that we will run out of oil. I mean, after so many in-game days pass can we only use the alternative fuel cars? Or maybe you have to pay for carbon credits? What? How many race cars out there are "green" cars? So far all you seem to do in response to people asking you this is attempt to deliver an Al Gore-like scary message, and barely even touching on how it should apply to the game itself.

You are saying that you want the game to have some kind of message, but why? How does that fit with Gran Turismo? How many other games attempt to offer some sort of message that has very little to do with the game itself.

And then you really need to follow up by asking this question: If the game attempts to simulate a world where oil will run out just around the corner and whatever scare tactics the media portrays, will people still want to play it?

I mean, think about it. No oil from now on so you must only use alternative fuel cars. "But I didn't buy any of them because they drive like crap or have horrible setups for proper pit strategies." Oh, game over then. Save the Earth. :)

Really, I am questioning your goal with this thread if you don't explain what you want the game to do specifically. So far all we are getting is rhetoric and I don't know if you are trying to be totally serial or just wanting to have a climate change rant. If so, we have a thread for that.

It's a video game. Don't make PD do something hypocritical. Everyone! we need to drive hybrids because they're less emissions (but they forget to tell you about the emissions from getting the nickel from Sudbury, Canada, to Europe, to China, then to Japan)! And we're gonna teach you this well you play on you 50" TV, Surround Sound, with a power sucking steering wheel!

Please, this is horrible idea.

How about the cost and environmental damage of the batteries themselves?

This climate change nonsense has been thoroughly debunked. Notice they don't say "global warming" any more? Because after a decade of cooling it became impossible to say it with a straight face. Many of you are too young to remember the global "cooling" scare of the 70s. It was on the cover of Newsweek in 1975. That petered out and it became global warming. But now it's "climate change". That's better because the climate "changes" every day and it's harder to prove it wrong.

the climate has always changed. I'm in the north east United States. At one time this was a tropical zone, at another it was under 3 miles of ice. i'd say that was climate change, and we had nothing to do with it.

its not a climate issue, its a political one. And really dosnt belong in any game, or this website;

That's why its not called "Global Warming" anymore - because it's not as easy to sell if it isn't true. "Climate Change" is ambiguous enough that it will always be true.

Ah Henny Penny... how far we've come...

Random statement- ELECTRIC CARS ROCK!!! Except for the fact that they don't make alot of noise, but the whole jet-ish sound is cool

Post of the month for me that. I feel exactly the same - include those "green" cars because that's all they are, cars, each with their own sound and driving characteristics. Heck, even include game modes that only allow you to race electric cars or whatever. That'd be cool. I'd even go as far as saying that a few challenges around the theme would be OK, such as achieving a certain MPG fuel economy while getting below a target time. However, that's where it should stop. GT is all about the cars and driving them around prestigious tracks - let's keep it that way instead of it becoming an environmental sim.

I also feel an air of hypocrisy around this whole message... It's all well and good preaching the message, but if you don't practice it, it counts for squat. Console ownership in itself suggests to me that the message is lost.

I hope GT game will make us aware of climate change and also driving safe. I agree with having more electric cars and I hope there are biogas, hydrogen cars in the future in GT and also some message for all gamers to support environmentaly friendly cars.

And also endorsing proper driving techniques and safety. Seeing some safety tips or message or a track course on how to drive safely. Or safe racing maneuvers should be given as tip and training mode. GT or any games are great mediums to spread ideas to everyone and to influence a lot of people. I hope GT will be like that

Uhm, WHAT? The whole point of driving sims is: Drive as fast as you possibly can. IT'S A GAME. In your opinion we should start driving 60bhp Priuses in GT just because they're more fuel-economical and environmentally-friendly. I don't need to worry about CO2 in GT! Or fuel shortage! The whole point is to drive fuel-guzzling, insanely polluting, mind-blowing SUPERCARS!

Jeez, these greenies gotta keep in check.

Not to mention that although oil will eventually run out, it will not happen in our lifetime.

hahahaha, your funny (Yogaflame). Maybe you didn't get the memo, cause global warming and climate change are myths. Where hitting record low temps out here in the US, Canada, and Europe as well. I love electric sports cars and stuff, but it does nothing, absolutely nothing to make a world a better place.

To make a game that says: "this game will soon be obsolete because of the earth and environment situation" ... and therefore you should start learning how to play/drive easy immediately in this game from now on...

i find this a bit contradictory... kinda takes away our freedom no?? almost like censoring the politically incorrect... maybe we should take down all those gory or sexy and violent games out there too.

Let's make a game about going to church...

A video game is, by philosophy, a medium that allows us to do what we cannot do, or should NOT be doing in real life... in this case, pollute the earth...

As far as i am concerned, I am just waiting for GT5 so i can step on the pedal (to the metal plastic) with cars that have the least MPG...

Playing this game does not prevent me from leading a greener real life...

I say no to this concept... I dont want to see Al-Gore popping up somewhere in GT5... :ill: :yuck:

Ummmm.... I'm not agreeing with this topic but they say oil will run out by 2050.

Venezuela and Saudi Arabia (among other countries) have oil reserves for at least 120 years. The 2050 mark is mostly by alarmist tree huggers trying to push the conservation and alt-fuel laws.
