GT Sport vs Other Games: Comparison Video Thread

Time of day and lighting changes can have a massive affect on how textures are seen, shadows, lighting intensity, contrast as well as the saturation.

A reason exists that photographers like to shoot at certain times of day and certain conditions and not others.

For it to be a far comparison of the visuals it would need to be as close to the same time of day, weather and even time of year; however at the very least roughly the same time of day should be used.
And that's without mentioning every single racing game, no matter how impressive the graphics are, struggle to look realistic in bright sunny day conditions.

GTsport (beta) is on another level

Time zone is different.
Why PC max setting version is so unstable frame rate
And the captured image quality is obviously bad for Forza 7

I'm fed up with FUD.

Yet you just used this photo of a blown up, out of proportion track/car(which in process, messed up the resolution and quality of the photo) to make a judgement on a game. It's odd(not really) that you wont use the same process and look at an actual HD photo of the game and make a similar or assessed judgement. GTS does have great lighting, you're right, yet no one is arguing that.
What photo? I was talking about the video comparison.

You replied with a snide remark about lighting, exactly after someone posted an out of proportion photo focusing on the lighting. Everything points that way. Also, if you're going to say you're going off the video than you should know that the TOD very much makes a difference, if you'd follow the discussion you'd had known that. When using a similar time of day, like the photo's posted above by @Hage dayo, you can see that the lighting changes drastically, as does the way the colors interact with it. Whatever case, they both look good when you actually compare the same TOD.

The tone of GTS's is much nicer with the warm touch it gives, and Forza's is just too dark at times. One kind of looks like sunset, and GTS kind of looks like sunrise, however this is far better a comparison than before. I Can't recall, but I wonder if Forza has user settings for video that allows adjustment to the games brightness, as I think that would fix the darkness issue.

I got a question, do the cars in Forza slide like that in turns or is the guy trying to drift? That tire smoke looked like the Vette was sliding because I think it also came from the front tires.

Not sure what you mean by out of proportion photo, it was just a screengrab of the video pointing out the lighting and the shadows were too long for it to be noon as a previous poster thought and that the trees seem to be unaffected by the light.

GT isnt perfect but at least in the screens above does a way better job at selling a certain ToD.

The discussion isn't about what you said, but what was replied to it. However, you're right, it is not out of proportions, as if it's just an unaltered screen grab, it can't be. Although, I'm not entirely sure it's actually the same ToD, however, it is still a good comparison.

I haven't driven the car yet, but I intend to give a try later today and record it. I'll let you know my findings. My opinion is that he's going in way to hot, braking way to late, causing the car to get unsettled. The last few turns make it apparent in my opinion.

You really have used some appalling shots from FM7. But I suppose that is to be expected.

I think he simply went to youtube and screengrab some of the videos and the car looks like its moving fast (you can tell by the blur of the side details) to showcase in comparison.
And by the looks of it it looks like the one in GT Sport seems to be in standstill @emula confirm this.

It would be better to find pictures of the PC version and compare them.

A much better comparison would be if you take a standstill comparison of Forza aswell due to the fact that the one in GT Sport looks to be in a standstill showing off more side details.

It's difficult to get the exact same lighting but here's something a little more indicative.

I wish they would have just left the ToD selectable, instead of random, on the tracks that don't have any other selections. it's so annoying trying to find that one, great, ToD.

The is slightly best situation but remains much inferior.
It may not be at the same level, to a degree, but I'd have to say that Forza can at least expand it's lighting engine to much more situations making for much more dramatic and visually stimulating views in area's just not achievable by GTS. I'd very much take a very slight hit to GTS's visual prowess and have these features than have them pumped up to 11 but putting these features in the back burner.

As a photomode user, almost as much as a racer, I do very much appreciate what GTS is doing with it's modeling and textures, however. If Forza 7 is anything to go by, I'll be spending more time in photomode than in actual races, with GTS.

Yes it's a pain in the backside. To get a similar sun angle to emula in GTS you have to go to, for example, Dubai.

yeah, only difference being that GTS is using Golden Hour as its TOD. Not sure what Forza tracks have that so far.

Where is the sun in those pics? Looks kinda like its behind the hills but with the car shadow its should be higher up
I can't even see a car shadow in those pics, but I'd imagine that the Sun is to east, very slightly north of it.

A couple of half decent shots at Spa.

If you play long enough you will find the perfect lighting as in the GTS shots. That said GTS is still the king of lighting. I was merely posting to show that what had been posted of FM7 was not representative.
