Are you serious? The Ferrari F40, Shelby Cobra, Toyota Supra, Lamborghini Countach, Dodge Viper and McLaren F1 doesn't float your boat? Not even the Lotus 97T? Boy, you should enjoy these cars because they are all iconic. Yes, we need current cars, but that would take space away from some of the most legendary cars of all time. Choose wisely.

Ferrari are strange when it comes to licensing for some reason. They're happy to give GT Sport older models but not their new stuff. Take the 488 GT3. That should be in GT Sport but instead we have the 458 GT3. They don't like decals on their cars either..

Speaking for myself, I don't really care about most of these road cars. My focus is on cars that can be part of an existing or new race group, or can have race versions of the car made. That's why I'm excited for the Alpine A110, because there's a possibility we could see Gr.4 and Gr.3 versions of it.

I feel like the player base here is split into two camps: those that really just wanted GT7 but are making due with GTS and hoping PD puts as many GT6 road cars in it as possible, and those like me who bought the game based on the pitch that this was a new kind of GT focused on online racing. It's not that I don't take the road cars out for a spin occasionally, but that's just not what brought me to the game. If we had proper road courses to drive them on, maybe I might think differently.

re: the 488, is that what PD said? That Ferrari won't allow them to use the 488 in GTS? I had assumed the 458 was only in because they started working on it a few years ago.

No it's not what PD said. I just think it's curious that Project Cars 2 has it.

You really think PD needs "a few years" to make a new car model for their game? SMH

That is a good enough reason to not allow it for this car. It would be sacrilege to put idiotic decals on it.

Except GT6 had more than six Ferraris..

That does not seem to be a problem with other titles.I mean the 488 GT3 (or the GTE) version is in ACorsa (GT3) or Pcars 2 ( both GT3/GTE) -examples-.
I am not sure about the decals thing either since the 488 GT3 or GTE can be editided by users in iRacing -another example-.
So I cannot find one good reason for Ferrari "not willing to give new stuff" in general. From my point of view it looks more like a PD choice rather than a "Ferrari problem".

I'm just not into supercars, I much prefer sports/high perfomance road cars. As a kid I was more drawn to Touring cars and the WRC as they were more fun to watch than F1.

If I won big on the Lottery I'd still take a GT-R over a Lambo or McLaren. Heck I'd even enjoy a factory fresh restored 90's Civic over some million dollar poster car that you can't enjoy on a B-Road.

Nope,
In my Professional Life, I charge $250 per hour for my time.
So to get to drive all of these cars, will require a grind of at least 25 REAL Hours Behind the Wheel.
Add that up, 25 x $250.00 and My Cost to get these, so called FREE DLC cars is: $6,250.00

I'd much rather par a $9.99 DLC fee or even a $19.99 DLC fee, and have All the cars Added to My Garage for Immediate Use.
Instead, I've got to Waste 25 or More hours of my time to earn enough In Game Credits so that I can Drive all these "not Free" Cars.
I could use the same 25 hours to earn $6,250 Real Dollars..

So tell me again it is Free my friend?, because this Certainly isn't Free...
to me, it's rather quite Expensive waste of my Time to grind to earn in Game credits.

wow...just wow

I think the 458 is a much more iconic car than the 488 will ever be. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the reason PD choose the 458 instead of the 488, there are more examples where the brand newest model is not used but an older model instead (F-150 raptor for example).

Or, maybe work on GT:Sport started so many years ago already and the 488 wasn’t available for PD yet.

No, I just assumed that they got the 458 into the game and were busy trying to get everything done on production, so they decided to use the 458 for the Ferrari Gr.4 and Gr.3 slots. Plus the 458 was already a well-known GT3 car. And like other newer cars that aren't in the game, they just decided to do the 488 after launch (hopefully).

Another reason could be that Ferrari didn’t allow the Gr.4 variant of the 488 but they did allow it for the 458.

Because with Ferrari’s super strict licensing deals, that 458 Gr.4 is something special, I think it’s the only “fantasy” car in any video game to wear the Ferrari badge?

When the game went into market 458 GT3/GTE was not longer an active racing car.IMO PD paid whatever for the 458 model during development and did not want to spend more money in order to get the license of the "new" GTE/GT3 Ferrari model.Similar propably to why they did not add the Ford GT into the game and created a "fantasy" MUSTANG GR.3.
On the other hand they did get the Porsche GTE (2017 model) into the game. But since the Porsche license became avaliable way later than other manufacturers makes my point valid -I think-.

Now this makes more sense. But even in this case they could have option to add 488 in GR3 and a "fantasy" GR4 458 model.Like I said it was propably a "money"/time choice PD made.

It's 100% free. Games are played in ones "free time"...

If I follow your logic, there's only 1 thing left for you to do my friend: sell your console and go enjoy working your ass off for a measly 250$/hr.

Seriously, your argument for not doing what everyone else in GTS has to do to buy new cars, is by far the most stupid argument I've ever read, seriously sell your console and work your ass off my friend.

Oh ps: add all the time up you might spend on gaming forums arguing about this kind of stuff and you'd probably have about half the amount of credits needed to buy most of those cars...

250$/hr x hrs spent arguing on forums; you do the math.

It’s pretty logical, if you look at the timeline. Originally the game was supposed to be released in November 2016. To make sure they had a Ferrari Gr3&Gr4 car, they would have had to be working on them in early 2016 at the latest, when the 488 was only just about to be introduced as the 458’s successor and therefore hard to get your hands on for modelling.

After they then had the 458’s, their focus was probably more on getting more brands done than to add another Ferrari alternative.

I hope you're right, but I'm afraid not.

The AUP is quite clear.

By all means address his point and disagree with it, but the second you start to get into personal digs then becomes unacceptable.

Don't do this again (and its not open for debate).

I'm guessing the update will come on Friday..

In January Kaz tweeted on the Saturday (20th Jan) saying an update is coming in the following week, this was followed by an official post on the PlayStation Blog on Thursday 25th, stating the update was coming the next day, 26th.

So if we use that for February, Kaz tweeted on the Saturday (24th Jan) saying update next week, im expecting an official blog post to follow and state the update is coming the next day...

20 Million credits for cars is a bit crazy when the most you can earn is 1,875,000 per hour.

However, these cars are not required for the GT Sport mode which is what the game was sold on.

Probably off topic but do you know why there are ALfa Romeo 4C's in both group 4 and group 3? This always seemed very lazy to me, they should have gone for the 8C in group 3.

As long as it meets the requirements for GT4 or GT3 I don't see a problem.

I can understand that but both the 4C gr.4 and the 4C gr.3 cars have no real life equivalent. So if you are making fantasy AR gr4 and gr3 cars why be so lazy and use just one car model? They did variate it with other manufacturers.

Except Jaguar?

Can somebody please link the thread that shows best credit making methods? Feel like I need to get some $ in before these new cars come in to play but I can't seem to find the thread, I just found threads where people were moaning about new credit threads being created lol

I wish more manufacturers would have more options for Gr4/3

Would love to see a Gr4 Dodge Challenger and a Gr3 Ford GT

I don't like grinding more than 30 minutes at a time so I'm like you, need to get some credits in the virtual bank

Because... Licensing! Alfa probably wanted the 4C as it’s still being sold unlike the 8C. And all brands with fictional Gr.3/4 pairs use the same model other than VW and Toyota.

I would like them to make more race specs for the cars that are being added through updates.
Take the R32. How great would it be to have a full Group A version that slotted into Gr.4. They don't even need to change the modelling other than a race interior.
