So I bought the miata and ran a few laps at apricot Hill. I only ran it ten or so laps just trying to get a feel for the car. I can't stand how much it understeers. I even added a bit of weight to it among my other tuning tricks to promote oversteer and I still couldn't stand the thing. Anyway I was pretty easily running low 1:22's. With a more fine tuned setup on the car and better track knowledge I'm sure I could manage 1:21's. Let me know ASAP what you guys are running (Oz wheels, and somebody shoot me ;) so I know if that's even competitive. I'll be choosing either the miata or the BMW. I might be in favor of the beamer if I can get a more natural turn in feel out of it even if the miata is faster. I'll let ya know as soon as I know :)
I will not be able to race any until I get back from boarding up in Vermont, but I can tell you that a 1:22 is around where I see race pace at if I remember correctly. I have to check my original laps on the Hill when I first started tuning the Miata. I believe I was running 1:23s at the first stages of tuning.

As for understeer, yeah the Miata has way to much rear traction that starts the understeer. You can tune it out, but it will always be there. Though the understeer is not detrimental to a fast lap, it does help in many turns believe it or not.

Yea it does have a lot of rear grip. If it had more power I could slide it out of the corner a bit GTAcademy style. I dunno I'll figure it out. I'll be on for practice this Tuesday and the race thursday. The car I race with will determine my car for the season but practice doesn't matter though correct?

Miata, what time did you get when you drove the BMW at apricot? It just feels too heavy and lights up the outside tire with minimal steering lock no matter how drastic I go with the tune. The miata is still 2 seconds faster for me and I don't see any track where it won't be faster.

Low 22's in miata, straight ugly time in the BMW but besides that I know there's more time out there I just despise this track. You should drive the BMW and see what you get. I'm pretty sure it's not my driving but I would like to know for sure.

I should get a chance tomorrow to play a bit and I'll let ya know. I'm assuming from what you said the car understeers as well? I'm not a huge fan of this track either.. Seems like it's one of those tracks where all skill levels will be within a second of each other. No real place to make up a load of time except that stupid chicane before the final corner/straight. What time did you get in the BMW so I know what to aim for?

The miata doesn't understeer for me I actually like driving it. You can't compare it to a GT500 or GT3 you gotta remember it has Touring Car downforce. As far as stock setup understeer idk, I never drive stock setups.

I'm comparing it to Street cars and other race cars. I'm not talking about overall corner grip just the lack of rotation. If you don't mind me asking what kind of setup are you using on the miata? I'm running extremely low rear downforce and all the other tuning tricks to promote oversteer and it still feels like it just stops rotating at a certain point no matter what I do.

I see there is only one spot left. Just incase I haven't been added I want to race. I'll be driving the miata and I'll take number 3 or 8. Do I have to state my color choice as well? I'm not sure what color I like yet. I assume I have to stick with one once I choose. Anyway I'll be on Tuesday for practice and the race on Thursday. Still stuck in the 22's. Everything I try to go faster ends up in me spinning out.

I'll throw you in on the main page! 3 or 8 have not been chosen, so that is up to you. You will have to stick to a car, but not a color, some guys have changed for every race, and I'm fine with that. We'll see you Tuesday!

On the main page it says that apricot Hill will be ran with the endurance race format. What's does that mean? We aren't doing 20/21 laps?

Whoops, that's my bad. There are so many things on here, I usually forget to change something...
We'll be running two races the Thursday. I will fix this now. All good. 👍

Not very lively here guys! Anyone gonna show up for the practice race tomorrow? A couple questions. How many laps is the practice race? And have you guys determined if we are doing rolling starts? I can't remember and don't remember where it was discussed. The picture in the race details event says there is an "acceleration area" so I'm assuming we are doing rolling starts. It will greatly effect my Trans setup so that's why I'm asking.

Yeah, it dies down on the weekends a bit. But we will practice tomorrow night!
As far as laps for any mini races, I haven't decided yet. But they'll be short, like just under half distance of Thursday's races. They won't mean anything, it's just for a little fun!
We did a rolling start for Ascari and it worked well enough to where we'll will keep it up for the rest of the season, with the exception of the Nurburgring.

Oh Yea I was gonna tell you. For A rolling start at nurb,
just have everyone get in order at the start and just accelerate out of a corner of your choosing. I really hate the standing starts and the FWD guys get screwed and pole sitters usually get draft passed. Another question. How are we doing qualifying for the nurb?

What times are you running and in what car? I'm gonna have a long long session tonight I can maybe help with your setup if your gonna be around. I have a great setup for super fast laps but I have to run a mock race on very fast tire wear to see how it will hold up during the later stages of the race. I wish some of the Fast guys would post their times so I know if I put enough practice in or not. The suspense of not knowing is driving me nuts.

Oh that's perfect we are running the same car. I'll be on in about an hour. Send a friend request to roob_og. I'm hitting mid 21's at the moment so I can definitely help you out somewhere along the way albeit race line or car setup.

We'll have to do some discussion for the Nurb. A lap around the Ring is about 8 1/2 minutes in these cars, there or there abouts. So with a 10 minute session, it'll be a one lap dash for the pole time. I'm okay with that. Your first lap will probably be your best with the accelerated tire wear.
I'm also uncertain about the in game time acceleration. There will be a day to night transition, just not sure how to do it yet.

For anyone else that wants to join I'll post a room number up or you can add me on PSN.

nice session and thanxs for the help
No problem man. Car turns in a lot better now doesn't it? I would have ran longer with ya but I hate the track and the car being so low on power it gets boring without a full grid :/
