I will not be able to race any until I get back from boarding up in Vermont, but I can tell you that a 1:22 is around where I see race pace at if I remember correctly. I have to check my original laps on the Hill when I first started tuning the Miata. I believe I was running 1:23s at the first stages of tuning. So I bought the miata and ran a few laps at apricot Hill. I only ran it ten or so laps just trying to get a feel for the car. I can't stand how much it understeers. I even added a bit of weight to it among my other tuning tricks to promote oversteer and I still couldn't stand the thing. Anyway I was pretty easily running low 1:22's. With a more fine tuned setup on the car and better track knowledge I'm sure I could manage 1:21's. Let me know ASAP what you guys are running (Oz wheels, and somebody shoot me so I know if that's even competitive. I'll be choosing either the miata or the BMW. I might be in favor of the beamer if I can get a more natural turn in feel out of it even if the miata is faster. I'll let ya know as soon as I know
As for understeer, yeah the Miata has way to much rear traction that starts the understeer. You can tune it out, but it will always be there. Though the understeer is not detrimental to a fast lap, it does help in many turns believe it or not.
