After a a frustrating day racing yesterday, I have finaly made friends with this car. What a diference it makes between flinging the car around (albeit fun), and haveing it grip aroung the corners. Its actualy starting to feel like "the pricision driving tool" most magazines say about the Evo. My new and way improved lap
Old New
T1 27.007 26.473
T2 1'02.491 1'01.501
Almost one second off T2 and 1.2 seconds of my final!
And Teledriel I felt the same way about this car yesterday, I just hated it, but now I kind of like it. Hopefuly the Evo will earn your respect back the next 4 days.

Thanks for doing the board Luxy. You rule, Man.

My pleasure :D

I didn't like being that far down the leaderboard so I had a quick session

Well, now you're ahead of me, jerk. :( Happy? ;) I guess I've either got to get faster, or start making more typos ...

i witnessed a falling leaf to, it popped up right in front of my windshield....or camera angle.

26.9?? 1.02.917 that second section is killing me after 20 laps

Since someone mentioned it I have been seeing 3 leaves at one time fall ... but it's so fast that one does not actually see it as a leaf ... will check in one of my replays ...

Ungh, I'm having a tough time with this one. I'm usually OK with Lancers but this model (for me anyway) is handling like an obese pig. Maybe I need harder tyres...?

Anyway - my T times:

T1 = 0'27.009
T2 = 1'02.765

Again: UNGH!

My thoughts exactly on the VIII ~ Loved the VII, but maybe I will get use to 8 too.

Just managed to shave about .25s off final time, all in the final sector! somehow!

T1's not too bad 26.9-27.05
T2's improving slowely 1,02.992

still don't like this car tho! four words come to mind
trolley handles shopping like (re-arrange as you please)

I don't think this car is THAT bad ... I actually think at least it does not handle like any other car in the game ( I even get the 4x4 drift thing going around a few corners), and therefore it's rather authentic according to me ... I just don't think that the understeer is AS bad in real life as in the game ...

Bah.

I hate it.

Maybe i need to devote more serious time into this combo.

But i cant be bothered trying to will my car around the course.

The key to it is the braking point into the first ever hairpin at the end of the straight, but i cant find it.

The braking point that is.

Or the will power needed to compete. I think i'll resign for this week. We'll see.

I am VEXD tho......

Just checked Luxy's leaderboard (which is awesome as usual, except would you mind correcting my name to ROB 256R when you get a chance. thanks 👍 ) expecting to be 'middling' Div 2, but to my amazement, I'm leading. So it looks like I'm gonna have to buy a max drive over the weekend just incase I'm still there come Tuesday. Oh well, can't complain.

Ok, had a real determined effort and i think i've started to get my head round this car's handling...... (ha! ha!.....wanders off into the distance muttering obsenities to self)

T1 26.826 -0.14
T2 1,02.736 (getting better) -0.25

and another .4 off at the line!

Still got more to come,i feel, just needs practice!
:ill: :yuck:

Well, I not got on well at all with this combo, and will not have a chance to improve, so I've submitted my time to CFM

T1 : 27.370
T2 : 1'03.165

Hope next week brings better for me.

Cheers,

Paul

Well I can be 2-3 tenths behind my ghost at T2 and still catch it by the finish line to the point where it's maybe a bumper length ahead. So my final sector isn't that great. If your's is good it should be a close finish for us. ;)

Yes! Forget that dirty lap, I just did:

T1 - 26.317
T2 - 1'01.031

I WANT to win Div 2 lol....

Time to buy a max drive or something I guess eh?

Well, I'm gonna have to give up on this one. I've got a T1 of 26.9 and T2 of 1'01.9. My best T1 split is a 26.3 which I can do consistently, but I can't match my best T2 run and thus I'm gonna have to submit a time at least half a second slower than I'd like. For the sake of my sanity I'll have to leave it as is.

I thought I'd do better this week as I was more consistent with my lap times, but again I think I'll find myself down the order.

Another 20 lap session and i've made an improvement.

Old: -----------------> New:
T1: 0'26.607 -------> T1: 0'26.472 (still as slow as grandma through here, feel like it's really holding me back)
T2: 1'01.595 -------> T2: 1'01.077

However, i'm not quite sure if this is dirty or not.. there was some talk that driving with 2 wheels across the white line is okay, but on that lap i think i was being a little bit too gentle with the joystick and my car ventured completely over those white lines...
Can anyone clarify that up for me?

CFM's the one to definatively answer that, but I'll chime in with my thought.

That white line is effectively a rumble strip, part of the track, so 2 wheels on and 2 off would be acceptable, cross over with all 4 and you need a shower.

Good time though... :)

I got another 2 dozen laps and continue to shave. Hope to be the bald guy on the podium this week, but the comp is tough! 👍

[T1] 0:27.832---0:27.259---0:26.866---0:26.969
[T2] 1:04.139---1:03.214---1.02.012---1:01.974

This last run gave me a .300 quicker lap time. Still feel like theres alot of room for improvement. I'm starting to like this combo more and more. 👍

is it possible that i do not have the track in Arcade mode?

The track doesn't open up until you reach day 281 in GT mode. You can pass the time in various ways, see some post earlier in this thread. I had the same problem when this combo was announced.

CFM
Yes, that section is legal to run on, at least in the WRS.👍

Are u sure its legal everybody, i'm kinda confused at the moment, because the post above says you cant cross over the white line, please, i need clarification.

The T1 26.062, T2 1'00.433 lap i did, i completely crossed over the white line on the left corner befor the long uphill hairpin (i was still on tarmac), obviously, if this is illegal, someone can delete my time from the leaderboard.

from dan.

(oh yeah, i'm not good with computers, how do you quote selected texts from different people?)

From everything I've read up to at this point, it seems to be legal. At least there are no clear cut rules stating that you CANNOT have all 4 wheels crossing the white line. Until then I will take full advantage of the grey area of the rules. :sly:

hey idle, who told you the 4 over the line rule?

hmmm i remember CFM saying itz ok

soooo i dunno? :indiff:

It is OK to cross the white lines, as long as there is pavement beyond them. If there is not pavement beyond them, you can still cross them, as long as a sliver of your 3rd and 4th tires are still touching pavement AT ALL TIMES, as there is a very very tiny bit of pavement past the white lines..but this is not recommended. Basically, 2 tires on pavement, OK. 3 tires on dirt, NOT OK. Hopefully that is clear.

I suck sooo bad. No moving up anytime soon. I am getting 30 sec T1 times!

Heh, don't feel bad. If I don't start doing any better at this combo, I'm going to have to demote myself!

I'm having a hard time "feeling" this car in it's current state. When are we gonna do some GT mode races, CFM? This thing is in dire need of some stiffening up.
