Every now and again that sort of thing (not giving out your times and then participating) can get people upset, I wouldn't worry about that. ;)

Point is...
We give out T times because we want to. :sly:

Anyway, I'm out.
Later. :D
Yup, I can admit that that has gotten me up in angst in the past... :indiff:

But yeah man, you don't have to race on the sidelines! You can race WITH us. The only time you need to provide a replay is when you win your division or when someone of higher power, aka Flat-Out, Kent, CFM, or really whoever, questions it's reality.

I hadn't noticed this post earlier (was on a different page).

Basically, the last right hander is one of those with a bit of concrete on the left, it's possible that someone could run out to the left to get a wider angle on the approaching right. :indiff:

One thing to account for in this is my own guessing...

I've never actually cut far left to see if the angles work out well. :dunce:
Maybe I will check it out next time I start a lap... (when you start a new lap in free run it is the final right before a lap begins).

Anyway, don't sweat it too much.
Gotta run,
Later.

the only concrete (non kerb or cobble) areas i really see a possible advantage being taken is the strip of tarmac inside the karrosell.
but thats a minor issue, since the banking of the karrosell generally provides the fastest path through the corner... i've never tried short-cutting it though... so i can't speak from experience.

That's something I've always believed in. 👍

All of us have the right to question another person's times.
As a group we all have to decide what is worthy of concern and what is not. However, as individuals we must look at the results and be satisfied that they are legitimate.

When someone does something odd, the group and the mod will notice and in that case, a request of verification may be made.

Otherwise, when it's a mid-pack finish or known racer turning in a decent time, we have the discretion to accept the time without proof.

It's all about the community.
We watch out for cheats to protect the rights of everyone... But at the same time we encourage participation and prosperity.

...
That's enough from me for now.
later.

would it be ok, if i just did my lap sector by sector and added up my best sector times? lol, sarcasm if anyone didnt get that :S
seriously though, i cant get a clean lap, i havent given this week as much dedication as other weeks. I just cant get into it, the tracks too long for the laps to just flow nicely, and i loose concerntration too easily...doubt ill submit a time :indiff:

does anyone know if rudi raser knows we running the nurb this week?

that would make the top 5 even more interesting...

don´t worry, this week i´m way behind... i have a submittable time, but this could be the week i get last in div1... 6´24 at T10 and a bad last turn...

more playing time today, after spurs and cavs... maybe basketball can inspire me a bit... i´m really struggling with the car...

Not much to add to the replay verification thing.
If you're asked to provide a replay and you can't, your time will become 'unofficial'. That's no big issue.
It'll become one if you provide fast times every week and can't prove them. In that case, save all your replays so that you can provide all of them when you eventually have a replay device. That's what happened to fasj a few weeks ago, and all his replays were OK.
Replays are required, not because we think everybody's a cheater. That exactly the opposite. Replays are required because that's the best way for the middle and the bottom of the pack to improve their skill by finding better racing lines, different braking points, etc.
There's nothing to win here except other racers' respect, consideration and perhaps friendship. That's why there are no cheaters here, and when one comes, he doesn't stay long.

Now concerning the concrete part, I checked and its true that it could possibly be used to widen the line when entering the last corner and perhaps exit faster.
But the corner exit is rather narrow and you need a damn good line to carry your speed all the way to the finish line.
I doubt many of us would risk a wall touch (pretty close when the all 4 wheels are on the concrete) or a wide exit on the grass which would totally waste a 7-min lap.
Yet, I agree with Kent that using it to save a tenth of a second would be IMHO against the spirit of the rules : concrete parts are tolerated this week because the combo is the tougher we've had in the GT4 WRS and we want to give all drivers a chance to run a clean lap without too much frustration.

To make it short : I said "all concrete parts are part of the track" and if I change my mind for this specific part, someone will come with a question about the inside of the karrussel, then someone else with a question about another part and so on. So, that concrete slab is part of the track[/I] and if you succeed in winning 0.1 there, then thumbs up.

I had another session tonight (30 minutes), and still no clean lap. I can now run a clean T6 but I don't know the turns between T6 and T8 enough and constantly lose the car there. 3 evenings left :ill:

I also say that because I can't stand seeing people qualify in division 2 or 3 and then whip arse in the races...

I must admit I had similar concerns for a while but there's so many reasons why it could happen. I spent a solid 3-4 hours on the qualifier and felt I hit it perfect when I submitted. I'm sure I could smash it now because:

1) I drive manual instead of Auto now
2) I've learnt lots of new driving techniques
3) I know the track better

Anyway this is probably for another thread just thought I'd chime in.

As for the Nurb, I've pulled up at the gate in my Aston with a can of red bull in the ready...it's time to drive like a maniac......

blast, I managed a quicker T10 time, but only bits. 6.18.284. I'm coming after you, Doctor....and I'm suing you for malpractice, hah.

rock.

I finally got me another cockpit built. I haven't tested with the DFP on it yet but it seems sturdy as I violently shake it. I'd do some laps but I have created a massive headache and don't think I could handle doing them. Time to hit the medicine cabinet.

Time to hit the medicine cabinet.[/QUOTE]

That's exactly what I did tonight, and after 50+restarts I finally got a clean lap, thanks to a experimental chemical and herb combo. I'll never be able to duplicate the exact mix again, but will enjoy trying. Anyway got a very clean and very slow lap.

T3 1.48.553
T6 3.48.956
T10 6.31.700

It gets me on the leaderboard anyway. Well, back to the experiment, damn it's fun being me sometimes!! Feel like I'm back at Woodstock tonight, and yes I really was there and yes I am that old. I drove my 1951 Plymouth there from Long Island NY, took off work and lost my job driving taxi in New York City. I'm fairly sure these facts are correct, but like they say,"If you can remember the late sixties and early seventies, you didn't really didn't live them"

I think there is a really good fight for last place in Div 1 going on. I'm in the same boat as you, having problems, and am still on a dirty 6'27. Even though I haven't touched the combo since Tuesday (I think), I don't believe I'll be able to gain 10 more seconds, or even 5 more seconds.

hmm, warming up for my session i did a 5´06 with the mazda 787, on a lap that i had a spin, so, i think the problem is not the track, but me handling the DB9... maybe i get something good now... off to the races...

After purchasing the British Racing Green Aston Martin I found my laps weren't fast enough. I went back to the dealer and asked for a red one under the assumption that "red goes faster"...well it did, but still not fast enough.

So after countless off-track adventures in the red Aston I took it back to the dealer and said "give me something R-E-A-L fast!!!!!!!!" he pulled the white one in from out the back and said "This beauty will go like the wind!!!"...and he was right...on my first lap too!

T2: 1'19.853
T6: 3'44.455
T10: 6'22.857

It may not be a freakish lap but I'm damn happy with it, I've still got a few days and now I can drive maniacally safe in the knowledge I have a fairly decent lap under my belt.

Love this combo!!! 👍

ok, Dr. Watson. I've dug down and pulled a few tenths out. I tensed up towards the end of the lap and lost 8 tenths at the line(originally I was 9 tenths faster).
here are my times.

T2: 1:19.003(arrgghh, I've seen 1:18.7's before)
T6: 3:42.231
T10: 6.17.681

our T1 time are similar, but I know where I'm losing time on T2. now, I'm going to go back and try to recover those other 8 tenths. I say about 4 of them were lost right before the T10 sector. I'm still around 2-3 seconds away from the 7 miniute barrier. I'm trying for the 7 min barrier, so I will be driving like mad the next couple days to break it.

rock.

T2 – 1:21.275
T6 – 3:48.843
T10 – 6:31.670

Still slow, but there’s another 5 or so seconds left in me yet. Damn DS2! :P

Hey!
I'm using a DS2 and the Third Person Perspective.

No problems here! :D

I'm also slowly improving but it's nothing worth mentioning since I just can't keep up with my own standards of best T Times. :(

My goal as of now is to just get something before the weekend is over. :dopey:
School is too demanding for me to spend the amount of time needed for the "best possible" lap.

I suppose working on it is all I can do. :D
Back later with updates,
Till then,

Small_Fryz
Drift260Z are you able to prove your times?

I was sitting here thinking the same thing about 260Z and Watson...
No biggie, the week isn't over yet.

However, I am interested to see how things turn out between CFM, Fryz (if he finds the time for this one), and myself.

Should be a close race unless one of us pulls it together and manages a great lap. :mischievous:

omg my splits are aweful...lol
But i dont race it too much,(the ring) so I dont know the lines very well....
T2- 1:23.121
T-6 3:57.118
T-10 6:48.737

Finally got a clean lap. Embarassed of the time though.

T2: 1:21.811
T6: 3:50.358
T10: 6:37.728

I feel like an hour behind everybody. :indiff:

hey dudes, just signed up on here,im a mate of vexd and ive just joined gtp and am hoping to qualify in division two so hopefully ill be able to challenge some of you guys as soon as possible.

im hoping to get a result in this week.

👍

Good luck. 👍

I’m going to go for a long session now, see if I can’t grab 5 or 10 seconds.

I just went and had a crack at Mission 34 and beat it on my first try even with a 5 second penalty. That Merc drives very very similarly to the Aston, the gears are way different but anyone competing this week who hasn't done M34...you won't have any trouble after this week 👍

T2 – 1:20.688
T6 – 3:47.144
T10 – 6:27.968

There’s more left for me yet, I’m starting to get more familiar with this combo.

Yeah Mister Weary, I did the same thing last night. Amazing how easy it was to beat Mission34 after wrestling the DB9 for a few hours. Mission 34 was my last obstacle for GT4.

I started a new game of GT4and am trying to see how far I can get without buying any cars. Did it with GT3 where there are only 2 cars you must buy to complete the game. I won 20 cars so far without entering any races, just license and missions.

I was thinking of doing a restart where I had a goal or self imposed mission but I think I'll just hang out until the PS3 and GT Vision are released to play Sim Mode again. Once they come out you won't see me in the WRS for a few weeks/months :)

Good luck with the no buying a car thing. You probably know already but there's a guy on this forum who is doing that (scrooge or something?!?), do a search and you'll see his write-up's, they're pretty entertaining and very thorough. But before you go on that quest, you ought to get that S12 Gold, 79 just isn't quite 80 ;)
