DS2

DFP just too hard for me this week, i think ill stick to DS2

This looks like a fun combo.

Just a dumb question (I should already know this, but I don't). Is there any way to find your T-Times after you finish your run, or do I have to pause it mid-way through a run to write it down? T times are something that the analyser should show, but doesn't (to my knowlege). Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm back kids :sly:

Got the DFP out. Figured what the hell...

After some time, I've managed

T1 - 17.254
T2 - 45.201
T3 - 1'17.655

Room for improvement, based simply on what I've managed in various sections :P

Some of these damn invisible walls come right out on to the track! Not to mention I wasted half an hour because I forgot about the power and weight tune-ups. So after sorting all that out I finally posted a clean lap of...

T1 - 18.851
T2 - 46.236
T3 - 1'20.003

Just after the wooden bridge at the beginning there is a long right hand corner. Is anybody taking this full power? I can do it but I don't have enough space to swing left at the end to bring the car cleanly on to the tarmac.

6, six, SIX HOURS!? Holy cow man! I have trouble getting more than six hours in a whole week sometimes!

<jealous>

Hey dont be ;-)
Im ex hardcore player ;) few years ago I culd play much more but today its a diffrent story :/ after that session I felt very very bad :( (it was 1AM..) and that why I consider my run in 24h race on this board :((((((

Sory for little OT ^^ - no time improve from me at the moment.
Edit: Ok I will make it a little bit smoller OT - so what max speed do you use ? Only holl (AFAIR) said it so far, also is it possible to take first left turn aftr T2 flat-out ? Im asking cos AFAIKS Im loosing alot time betwen T2 and T3

Aish ... have not even had a go on this one yet ... will be the 1st time I see the track even. But I see there's quite a gap on the T3's, from 1:15 to 1:18 !

Will give it a go tonight and hopefully my oversteering experience in GT3 will help hehe.

vtec_guy
lol im in the 1'20s. Are you any good on dirt kragbees?

Well at least you've got a time up haha ! Well ... I can control a fair but of oversteering, got golds and the like on GT3 dirt licences, but not sure of GT4 and this week ... I reckon my dirt skills is on the same level as the tar skills, so that means mid-pack again if I'm lucky haha.

Only problem is I've never driven this car or track ! :scared: , but oh well, always time to learn !

And you ? I think if you get 1:20's after 1 day you should be able to pull maybe a 1:18 or so ? Or am I underestimating you !

Gonna go with the DS2 this week though

I'm lifting, or left-foot braking near the middle to stay near the right hand side where it tightens, so that I'm in a better position for the left onto the tarmac.

The GT4 analyzer is so lame.

T1 - 0'18.8xx
T2 - 0'47.0xx
T3 - 1'20.0xx

Ok here's my advice to anyone struggling with this one.
And its much easier to follow my advice if you have a DFP, but anyway.

Try, for a few laps at least, to drive the whole course on half throttle.
This will give you an idea of how much more control you have over the steering of the car when you are using half throttle, as opposed to full.

When you have the course line down, then begin to apply full throttle to the faster bits, and finally, learn to get the brakes into play to position yourself.

Remember, it is sometimes very beneficial to change up a gear half way thru a corner that you are sliding out on, in order to get more traction, less slide, and thus not hit the outside wall. This is especially apparent round the left down hiller after T2, where you may enter in 4th gear (with top speed set to default 260) and click to 5th immediately, yet cease to slide out to the right. Try it, someone will get what i mean and agree with me, im sure.

Now how about the long left hander on the tarmac section, just after you get onto the tarmac?
I know there are a million different ways round it, but i found the quickest is to brake right into the outer edge of the turn, almost sliding off, then hit the gas in 3rd, and drive right out of it.
Any suggestions?

A few more things:

How the hell do u get thru the large S section before T3? Any tips on a line there please?
Z?
Zoky?
Phattman?
👍
And i would like some clarification, WHICH IS THE BEST TOP SPEED SETTING?
I have tried them all, and have found that you dont need any more than 210kph, but that 260kph (default) seems to yield better splits, though the car seems to be more of a slider when you have higher top speed.
I have only had an hour, so i know that i havent devoted enough time to it yet, but when i find im still trying to find a line thru the damn course, its time to ask for help.
So, lets have a drive thru please!!!! Someone?
Sorry for ranting, please help, VEXD. (as usual) :grumpy:

T1: 18.171
T2: 45.192
T3: 1'17.763

I know 1'14 is impossible for me, and am slightly disheartened that its on the boards already, but i know, and should maybe point out, that this rally event will attract a lot of racers we are not used to seeing on here, lurkers, you may say, that are going to show us how slow we really are, so lets bask in the knowledge that some of the best in the world are going home from work, and booting up exactly the same challenge as we are.
Feel proud, people! 👍

Nice times after just an hour, VEXD 👍

About that corner after T2, there's a tree on the right that's much more visible than the others ... it makes a great marker for where the turn-in point is :) I've been doing it in 4th and lifting ... I'll have to give short-shifting a go 👍

I was wrong to join back in on this and for that I am sorry! (but only sorry I wasted my time running yesterday) ... my replay time will now join the skyline at motegi and go unsubmitted ... and I'll say adious ;)

Dont do it Ron.

We need the fastest Brits in rally to stay.

I speak for everyone.

No one intended to offend to the point where one great would decide to leave.

Did they? anyone?

If so, then they should be banned.

This is a place for fun, and frolics, and congratulations.

Sort it out people.

:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

And Phattman, please dont go anywhere. :guilty:

I agree with vexd, I'm new to WRS and I don't know you Mr. P, but don't let a handful of peoples' bulls**t steer you away from WRS! We're not all a**holes y'know :) We courteous newbies need you vets around to set the bar 👍 :D

:grumpy:

So, does anybody have the time or inclination to do a write up for me?

Or tell me which top speed is the best?

Z, i thank you, as i believe you may know best, and i value your opinion, but i would appreciate a second opinion too? anyone?

👍

Kenny, I loved your story. I look forward each week for someone to post a story. I hope the track is open now, i'd like to run some laps.

210 seems to be good mate.

go over start finish line, then when you come to the bit on the left when the track cuts left you brake and down to 2nd, keep to the inside. over the bridge then flick it left and keep to the inside. Drift out a bit and hit 3rd, now if your skilled you can take the next right flat, changing to 4th midway, and also flicking the car left onto the tarmac and still being smooth. With a DS2 i can do this but not DFP. come into the tar hairpin and brake to 3rd, keeping to the inside rumple the whole way, then accerlerating asap and up to 4th, 5th round the slight right and take the next left flat and hit 6th on exit. this corner is tricky, but you brake and down to 5th and cut straight as you can and go into the dirt, keeping off both walls :scared: head down the fast straight hitting 6th, then tap brake and hit 5th and yank the car left and go through that corner full throttle. Now depending on how you come out you need to brake nice and early down to 2nd gear and exit the tight right far on the right, then you can take the next left on the inside and exit nicely for the next right where you stay to the inside because of the jump. this is 2nd and 3rd. now after you land you go straight and then you notice the track narrows on the right, so be careful not to hit it, and you also need to be sliding as you past that, braking down to 2nd for the left. Keep to inside and try not to exit wide then flick the car back around and keep to the inisde again, grabbing 3rd once you exited. past T3, grap 4th i think then you brake down to 3rd and swing the car around for the long long left and get lots of angle and you should be able to take it flat in 3rd with nice angle. After that you have a short straight then a right kink, not sure how to take this but tap brake and nice slide should suffice, over the jumps trying not to get crossed up. then for the last s bend, i brake to 4th for the left and take it flat in 4th then swing the car round for the right and cut nice and close to the inside. There you done a lap!!.

I will send you my dumped replay later today Vexd .... I was using stock top speed of 260 👍

Good luck :)

Ok... had time to run a few laps this morning and got me a smokin 1:23.xxx

I am extremely proud of this time... it's clean... and it includes a complete 360 degree spin... on the tarmac no less... wooooohoooooo... the replay is great.

Man I can't get enough of this combo 👍

Trowing the car in the dirt going "Don't wanna be your monkey wrench" ;) (Foo Fighters:D), sweet man 👍

Cheers,

BTW: Best T1: 18.401

Using DS2....as usual :indiff:

woo long live the ds2! (until I get a DFP lol). I reckon if I push really hard I could get a 1'17 very easily if not quicker. I got that time after about 10 laps. I took a little time off today to get my completion up to 50%. Got the XJ-R9:sly:. B-Spec Bob is doing Le Sarthe 24 hour 1 at the moment so i cant get racing again until just after 3:00pm tomorrow. (I cant stand Le Sarthe anymore after the hundreds of laps I did).
Anyway good luck and all the best with this event.
*sitting around with nothing to do... hay bail blows by*
