It wasn't Sony's decision to make the PSP game, but I agree it was nothing but a time waster. It's the only GT title I haven't got, though I do have a PSP. That's how intresting it is...

I got it .... and enjoyed it a lot .... just for the licenses really .... the complete races are too long to be played on a PSP (I think) .... but still i think it was worth it ....

Well , boycotting the game , as i've heard before , is a big joke .
Sony / PD know we'll all buy the game a.s.a.p.
But in my case , Sony have shot themselves in the foot .:dopey:
My TV broke down today , and guess what.... Tomorrow i'm gonna go out and buy a new ............ Samsung !!!
Sony can't ever recover that cash when i'll buy GT5 .:sly:
I'm also tempted to buy F1 2010 to kill the wait , but I won't , not even when hell freezes over .
This is my way of getting even with Sony and their disrespect .

Grtz , Horch .

Yeah, i agree. I got PSP and i actually bought GTPSP. I really tried to play to it, 'cause it's a GT game after all and i'm the fan of series since 1st GT.
But imo, GTPSP /=/ true GT, so i sold it for a half price to a friend who just wanted to get some portable racing game that will last longer than 1 week, so he wanted to buy it anyway.
And he ( non GT fan at all) actually enjoyed it. It's not that bad game if remember it's on PSP after all, but i think it wasnt worth time to make it.
Just think... if they didn't spent at least 1 year on that thing, we could've played GT5 already, maybe even for a few months... =(

Yeah, that will show them.

/sarcasm.

Harty har har funny guy, if someone wants to cancel their pre-order it is their right. Hell I don't want Sony to have my money either if they can't give me a game that I paid for more than six months ago, I have thought about just getting the standard now anyway, canceling my CE, and picking it up when it hits the shelf probably won't but it has crossed my mind the only reason I haven't is because GT5 was purchased with gift cards that I had received from doing surveys, and then they dance around the realease date like they don't give a damn.

Some people really should shut the hell up.

Maybe he is not the only one to do that, ever thought about that ?
100k people cancelling their pre-orders WILL have an impact, believe me.

And having pre-orders already paid-off is stupid, sorry. Its the same thing with gift cards.

OF COURSE they collect interest, thats what its all about, they are earning money with it, while you give them a 0% interest credit, for months even.
Think about it.

The only thing that will keep me from getting it ASAP is that I can not get it any sooner :)

only the retailers gain interest .... not Sony or PD

Everybody knows that ( or should know it ), that doesn't mean however that if a large portion of pre-orders were cancelled it would go unnoticed by either PD or Sony.

I agree .... sure the retailers will complain, and Sony will take notice,
..... but still the game will sell well .... and we as DieHard-GT-players ... will be the first .... like always ... to forgive and forget .....

They don't need a sarcastic online persona to point that out either. You're just as equally annoying.

Yeah, why don't you run along then and get your money back from Best Buy or whatever you're on about. Let's see if that expedites the game. :dunce:

Who the hell said I was going to cancel my preorder? I never mentioned ANYTHING about how sales will be affected with canceled preorders.

Someone's bitter. And still annoying.

You're missing the point if you think the idea of a mass refund will somehow expedite anything. As far as I can tell, the justification is that maybe, maybe Sony and/or PD would try actually explaining their actions over the past month instead of keeping mum. The threat of lost sales from the people they previously viewed as sure things (the GT-enthusiast community) might shake up some higher-ups enough.

It's all theoretical though, and yeah, I doubt it'd happen. But put yourself in the shoes of a big exec; you find out that tons of stores are reporting refunds for this game that's in perpetual release limbo. You wouldn't get worried?

Sony and PD, IMO, have already shown that they're not overly worried about what we think or do. The LEAST they could have done was given us an announcement. Or even an announcement on a forthcoming announcement. I'm sure someone at either of those companies peruses these forums and would have sensed the resentment many "fans" are feeling. Would it not have been gracious enough of them to say "We're still working out the release schedule and an announcement should be forthcoming" or "We don't expect it to drop this year". OR anything for that matter.

Yeah, I probably would be upset if I was that big exec and saw a bunch of pre-orders getting canceled. BUT that's not going to happen because it's not important enough (in life) to gather enough momentum for a mass movement. Gamestop's got my $10 and they can hold it until I pick the game up. I'm not going to go out of my way and go pick up my $10 to send a message. That's just asinine (IMO) to think 1) you'll get enough people to do it and 2) Sony/PD will give a crap.

And that's why I started the post above with *yawn*. It's a boring discussion and nothing's going to come from it save for the few martyrs who go to pick up their money. It's kind of silly to have put the full amount down in the first place. It's just scary how little people know of money management.

I'm not too sure on how mass production of games work, but surely just because GT5 missed its production date doesn't mean that review copies cannot be handed out to news agencies such as IGN etc. Or does Sony have a policy of not handing out review copies until a games release date is set?

At this point, in my financial state of having very little money I would happily cancel my pre order if they announce the release date as being in 2011. Not in some form of passive aggressive protest but because that money is gas money, that is me being able to afford getting to school and back, I would still buy the game when it's released but $100 to me right now is a couple tanks of gas instead of a game I will be able to buy when it comes out at whatever date it does.

Well, if you want to cancel your Pre-order, by all means do it. It won't bother me one bit.

I just have to laugh with people making "threats" over a video game.:ouch:

Then are you the shiny white knight in the forums? What are you on about?

I'm on about nothing, really. Just like you said any discussion is better than preorder crap.

At least some ad-hominem stirs the thread up a little bit. :dunce:

Amazing how people could be playing GT5 a few hours from now.

Haha OK man. I understand we're all bored, but some folks really are losing focus, sanity, etc. over this delay. It sucks for me too, but man, I'm not going to go riot in the streets of Best Buy.

Oh well, hopefully someone can learn a thing or two from this:

1- It's pointless to pay off a game (or other stuff) before it's in your hands.

2- Sony doesn't give a crap.

Sony would of been desperate to get GT5 out. We'l have to wait to get the real reason for the delay. Major game breaking bug found?. Yamauchi deciding he needs more time?. The hints of manufacturing cockups?. You cant blame Sony because somethings gone wrong somewhere which is out of there control.

Here's my Top 10 reasons why GT5 hasn't been released yet...

10. Kaz was busy playing Forza 3.
9. They couldn't port all 1000 cars from GT4.
8. They believe that repeatedly delaying the release date in the very last minute increases the hype by a factor of 2.
7. They realized all the cars sound the same as they did in GT2. "now we recorded the sound at full throttle"
6. It has nascar.
5. No matter how many times they delay the game you will still buy it.
4. They added 3d in the last minute so you would buy a new Sony 3d tv.
3. The graphics are outdated every time its gets ready to be released.
2. Avast ye pirates!
1. Kaz thinks the following a true...
the longer a game is in development, the higher its perceived value and actual quality.

My 10 reasons:

10. Kaz downloaded F1 2010 on pirate bay and is facing a £1000000 fine
9. Everyone at PD are partaking in the making of the biography film 'Translator-San'
8. Kaz got drunk and accidently realized the game could do with Move support where you virtually wash your car yourself
7. GT5 was mistakenly saved as a word document and PD are using a trial version of word that has run out
6. Kaz decided its time PD made another MotorToonGP
5. Translator-San lost his note pad, all work at PD is ceased until the notepad is found
4. Sony thought to themselves 'I know.... Lets delay GT5!' reason is not specified
3. Kaz tried extremely hard to throw the game through the release day window, but he missed and he missed badly, his colleagues roast him by saying 'Dude you missed by 3 days LULZ'
2. The cake is a lie
1. Kaz believes that the way forward is to implement 4d trees, so he has gone through all of Carl Sargons theories about the 4th dimension and BAM! Ladies and Gentlemen, in 2015, GT5 will release, and yes, it will have... 4D TREES!! YAAAAAAY!!!

The new release date will tell us a lot about what has happened. If the release date is soon, then it's Jailbreak, missed 3 day window, etc., if it's pushed into next year, then this would indicate that PD was still working on the game to the last minute and still wasn't finished.

And if there is day after day, week after week, with no word from Sony about what's going on...well then, sadly, that's status quo.
