GT5 delayed

So it's not really $100 now or $100 later. $100 now costs you $5 vs paying the $100 later in the above example. Basically you are paying a penalty just to pre pay.
Surely that depends where you bought it from? I don't know how it works in the US, but in the UK, certainly for large online distributors like Amazon, Play etc, they only take the money from your card when they ship the goods so there is no difference to you whether you pre-order or not.

This may be different if you reserve an item in-store (I always buy online, a lot cheaper) but I thought a lot of shops only want a deposit up front, not the full amount.

Perhaps shops handle pre-orders differently in the US?

Steve.

Anyone else got an email from Amazon about their Pre-orders? It says the release date is moved to 'December 31'

ZzzZzzZzz...

Was in EB Games, south Brisbane area today, had a chat with the manager who is a buddy. He says the rumour is a December release date, delayed because they wanted to market a 3D TV/GT5 game bundle for pre-Christmas sale.

I got an email saying TBA.Thing is,preorders here.you pay for the whole game up front, and get it delivered the day its out.I hope PD staff and Sony read this all these threads.

Did you tell him..."cool story Bro!! Unlikely"

The bundle was on sale in Europe, from Sony.
LCD-TV - SONY - KDL 40 HX 805 AEP
+Glasses,Games,Movies
+GT5 (at least a preorder, because it was not out yet)

Problem is: The offer ran out 30.10.2010 !

Kind of ironic, and moronic from the Sony part ...

If I would be Sony, I would fire that marketing manager instantly.
And also slap PD with a "late fee".

For anyone who was curious about the Prima strategy guide apparently still being scheduled to release this week, Amazon UK are now showing it as unavailable - "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Yesterday it was still available for pre-order but with no date, whereas on 23/10 when I ordered it it was showing 2/11 as release date. My order is still claiming a dispatch estimate of 4/11, but then my GT5 order with them is claiming a delivery estimate of 5/11. I doubt they'll be hitting either

That's not surprising since strategy guides are tied to games. With GT5 being delayed that would mean that Sony would tell Prima to hold the strategy guide back until the game is ready. That strategy guide likely has full course and car lists so Sony definitely wouldn't want that out right now.

If that article is true, it's bogus for a release date to be apart by a month or two for NA/Europe vs. Japan. A few days either way is understandable, but if they go with the December to Jan/Feb gap, a LOT of folks will be fuming. PD and Sony really need to get their heads on straight and break the silence.

Here are some news from german websites (I aready posted this in some news comments):

Video
http://www.cynamite.de/Gran-Turismo...5-Corvette-im-neuen-Video-vorgestellt-796730/

Both are from Nov 2.

They interviewed Yamauchi who said, that GT5 is still under development and that they have problems with the framerate under certain conditions.
And Yamauchi also told them, that they still have to tune the ENGINE SOUNDS.

And japanese retailers say, that the new release date will be Dec 23:

You pay the full game in advance? That makes no sense.

No sense at all. In the UK, the vast majority of retailers charge your card at the point of dispatch. You can choose to pay early at some retailers if you wish but most don't force you to pay early. I wouldn't be happy if a retailer had my hard earned money sitting in their bank account when it could be in mine.

I hope your right spaggetti69 because RIght now i am really peeved off since today is the day im supposed to be playing the game. I freaking thought they were supposed to tell us somthing before the end of october? I actually consideiring getting call of doodoo now. My how the mighty have fallen

I'm pretty sure that is an old interview.

They say it is a new interview:

And they still have the guts to show this on the GT website... :

This part was wat KY said during TGS. So it's not that new.

Wow, that really is a useless (and stupid) article. Why shouldn't it get NA/EU release when it gets a JP release?

It's not that stupid, No western games go onto shelves immediately before Christmas, but in Japan they do. That might be down to logistical reasons as well as cultural ones, I don't know.

I think the delay is most likely to be down to optimisation not going as smoothly as hoped, 3D plus 16 cars with damage in the rain being even worse than feared on some tracks, that sort of thing.

Well, Christianity is Japan is a huge minority, so Dec. 25th is just another day for most of the country.

And that came up when ? 2 days before release ? If that is really the case we are looking into 2012 to fix all of it ... :nervous:
