GT5 delayed

Even if that is true i'm pretty sure the two things aren't realated anyway. There's nothing on the page suggesting that it's compatible.

Feels like it's getting out of (sony's) hand... The moment copys are "out there" launch is iminent and more and more "leaks" will appear, and attempts to score some pre launch orders with "movable" or undefined dates.

No fixed day can be 100% sure right now but, very soon... I can already smell it...

It's been a hard endurance race, but this is the final straight, finish line almost in sight... Hang in there!

Hmm, i wonder if Sony actually will give us a new release date soon.
I think the end of this week or maybe monday of the next will be just fine. CoD: BO is released already, 7m sales on 1st day.
And people still think that that is not the main reason of the delay? Sadly, GT won't be nowhere close to 7m sales for day 1, so BO only would hurt week 2 and week 3 sales for GT5 if it were released by nov 2/3.
But it's ok now, there's nothing to fear Sony, so give us that damn official release date. -.-

Those circulars and posters and various other advertisements are designed and printed weeks before they're out. I was even in the Sony Style store in the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island (to play the GT5 demo), and they had a big GT5 poster saying that the game would be out on November 2nd, and this was days after that point. Also, the weekend before November 2nd, GT5 was all over the circulars.

So basically, you'll find out about GT's release date here first. Don't bother getting all excited over any print or even virtual ad you see.

Everyone,

I have seen posts speculating the release date (around Black Friday here in the States) for 11/23 and 11/30 and some in December.

Is 11/16 out of the question for a release? My only thought is if PD was behind 3 days from making the 11/2 production deadline, why would they wait until then (11/23 or 11/30) to release it? My math would suggest that if they were 3 days behind, that would put them at 11/5. Is there more to the production deadline? If they miss their spot, do they have to get in the back of the line so to speak?

Also, leaked copies are out and have been out, so could Sony and PD have been intentionally late on the info they have provided (Kaz said that copies are being stamped as we speak on 11/2 - copies started floating around on 11/5). What if they had been stamping copies for days or weeks prior to his statement?

Just my thoughts.

On a side note, tomorrow is Veterans Day here in the USA. I just wanted to say to everyone on the board that is either current or former military, thank you for your service and your sacrifices that you have made.

In short, yes, if they missed the deadline then they have to wait, especially since it's the holiday season when all the big tittles are coming out. Perhaps the reason we know very little is sony is having trouble getting slotted into the schedule. Obviously some discs are being produced, but we don't know how many and therefore we don't know when the game will come out. Here's hoping for November/early December.

you know how people say "who cares about a couple months delay? we've been waiting 5 years, another couple months won't matter".

No problem Polyphony, I WILL wait another couple months and buy it used so you get no money. How's that feel? Like delaying over and over, with no information? not even a track list? lol.

How about Gran Turismo 4? huge delay, remove online and promise an online disc which never came, instead photomode lol.

so, yea no money for you PD.

Has anyone got an idea where these people are getting their copies from, like someone said I don't think they'll sell it we'll have to find it, like a childrens easter egg hunt.

I found a copy under a bag that blew into my yard. I went out to remove the bag, and BAM.....a new copy of GT5 underneath it.

I turned towards my garage and there was a brand new Bugatti in my driveway with Jennifer Anniston lying on it naked with the keys in her mouth. I asked if that was for me, and she said it was all mine.

Damn that was a great dream. :)

Ironically I'd believe the second paragraph long before I'd believe the first one.

Yet another day passes without an announcement from Sony.

I dunno about you guys, but the buzz from KY's gold announcement's wearing off. I want the damn game in my mailbox before I have to go visit the parents this Xmas.

It's also unfortunate that all of PD's hard work is getting spoiled here, on YouTube, and by the lucky S.O.B.s who already have GT5 but as far as Sony's concerned, it's a well-deserved slap in the face after all the stonewalling, lack of news, and piss-poor marketing and damage control. I really don't care what happens to Sony after the game's out (whenever that may be), but it deserves all the scorn and lost sales heaped on it after this disaster.

If Sony were smart about this, the first thing it would have done after going gold was ship the remaining preorders made before the delay and not attempt some stupid global release that it could never seem to make (PS2, PS3, GT5 come instantly to mind). That, or just update the fans with what's going on, drop some clues about possible release dates, build the marketing up to a release date announcement and assure everyone that the game will be out at a reasonable timeframe instead of dropping tidbits here and there while pretending the game doesn't exist.

But what do you expect from a giant Japanese company, that like most giant Japanese companies, couldn't think outside the box to save its life?

I read somewhere on here that they were having an anniversary party for the PS3 today. Is there any truth to this? If so, when are they "celebrating"? It would be a great opportunity to give us the new release date. From my experience, they are seriously running short on time if they are planning on a 23rd or 30th release date as far as distribution, advertising, etc.

I tend to view this as a 'it is what it is' situation.

If I fault Sony for anything, it's for playing it's cards to close to the vest. I understand them not wanting to blow another release date, but if that is the case then simply SAY SO.

Don't say we'll attempt to have a new release date by the end of Oct and say nothing when the month ends. A simple "Sorry, we are still working out issues and will not be able to announce a release date at this time" would have pacified many.

In short, it is what it is.....but it didn't have to be. It could have been something else, something better.

I agree with you. If they said, "We still have some things to iron out, but we will have a release date on November 14th." That would at least get tons of people to quit constantly checking this forum, checking our RSS feeds and other things of that nature to stay up to the minute hoping for a release date.

It kinda hurts looking in a BJ's ad and seeing Gran Turismo 5 there :indiff:

Ha. Yeah I got that brochure a few days ago. Obviously when I went there, with hopes in check, I walked by the video-game section. It wasn't there, but hey, you never know. Someone's bound to drop the ball somewhere or the other :)

I´m 100% with you.

They KNOW that WE (come on, Sony!!) are watching all those leaked videos and that we download them BEFORE they censor ´em. So, they are insisting at the censoring thing EVEN knowing that it will STILL be on YouTube.
Why is that?
Why Sony´s being so stupid??

Come on! You give orders to take down the videos but don´t give us what´s the most interest for all?

How you Sony have the audacity to censor the product you have ready to launch and don´t EFFING launch the DAMN EFFING GAME?!!! FFFCK!!!!

In related news, it seems if GT5's delay was indeed to force 3.50 firmware and fight piracy, it may have been for nothing...

Pirates have now spoofed up to 3.50 firmware and seem close to getting PSN connectivity at the same time...

Well, they don't quite have it yet, but they will eventually... they always do. Anything that can be programmed can be de-programmed... I wouldn't be surprised if GT5 ships with an entirely new firmware version, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl did for the Wii.

As an ignorant PS3 user, what exactly does this do for them? What is a jail-broken PS3? What do they get and have access to that I don't as a honest, paying consumer?

Just got this magazine from JB HI-FI in Auckland NZ. Not sure if it's telling the truth but I will go back there ans ask if its true or not.

Okay I just asked them and said the game is to be due on December 2010 or the last week of November.

(I am a Gran Turismo fan almost exclusively. I don't game to game; I game to Gran Turismo)

As a personal aside, it fascinates and astounds me how every time I do end up at a video game Web site, there seems to be a brand new Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed game. It seems as if there's been four or five new Assassin's Creeds in the last year and a half.
How good a product are these people getting if there's a new version out every few months?

Funny to me how I bought a PS3 3 years ago strictly for Gran Turismo 5, expecting its imminent release. And now I'm on GTPlanet every half hour hitting F5 without a release date in mid-November 2010!

Few products in my lifetime have been given this insane treatment of release dates ebbing off in to eternity; and now we don't even have one at all.

Allows them to play downloaded (stolen) games directly from their hard drive.

Actually to be techical it allows homebrew and unsigned code which happens to include copied games (either downloaded or ripped straight off the disc in your PS3).

While homebrew is the high road reason given for these hacks most of the time (and indeed homebrew has lead to some awesome stuff like XBMC and Emulators that turn a regular old XBOX 1 into a full blown encyclopedia of arcade games and one of the slickest media centers of its' time) ultimately yes jailbreaking a PS3 right now is probalby 99% the domain of pirates.

I'm puzzled that so many people seem determined to believe a 23/11 release is possible for the US when we have apparent confirmation that the global launch party is on 24-25/11 in Madrid.

I'm not sure we'll see the same gap between launch and release that was planned originally (26-27/10 to 2/11) but I think it's highly unlikely that release date anywhere will be earlier than 26/11.

Seriously , the way Sony is handling this , and the way they treat their GT fans , is allready making me feel guilty when i buy GT5 , knowing that i gave my hard-earned money to those leaches .
In fact , i'm so upset with those guys , that i'll never buy one of their electronics again , no matter how good it is . Just bought a Samsung tv , and i'm just loving it .
So when the time comes for a new stereo , camcorder , home cinema , car stereo , or whatever ; forget it , Sony , you're not getting any penny more out of me .
Sorry "rant off" . woooooosaaaaa ...
I'm just annoyed with the lack of "the" news .

Grtz , Horch .

It's because of people taking "apparent confirmations" as you put it, and running wild with them quoting them as hard facts released from Sony themselves - when even THOSE are subject to change apparently. I understand people who say "I'll believe it exists when it's in my hands". What an epic run-around fans of this series have gotten!
