GT5 delayed

Why do they need to 'announce' it though? With the amount of pre-orders they've no doubt taken, they might as well just let the game slip into the shops silently, and only THEN start advertising it. I'm sure after all the drama with missing their blu-ray factory date etc. that they're more bothered about making sure it gets into the shops than letting their fans down again by announcing another 'false' date. The only guys who'll feel let down by this method are the shops themselves, as they won't be given the chance to generate interest and/or additional sales through their own advertising. Every other consumer who has or hasn't pre-ordered will be happy regardless, as the game will finally be on sale, ready for them to buy - which is the only thing we care about right now!

i had a chat to the fellow at EB games, charlestown, nsw australia tonight. and had a bit of a poke around the release date, and asked if they had the stock in yet. he basicaly told me to expect a nov 25 release he said the main thing is that sony doesnt want to go advertising yet another release date until the stock is in the stores and they are 100% sure nothing can delay it again, and while the australian eb stores didnt have the game out the back yet, that particular store had infact put the order in for their stock of gt5 this morning. so we really cant be too far off.

Sadly for us saps, Sony know darn well the die hard GT fans will buy this game whenever it makes its appearance. Their total indiffrerence to us is scandalous and cruel but not totally unexpected.

Where they will miss out is the 'occasional' racers who will buy the new NFS as it will be out before GT5. I already know of at least 3 of these who have said they can't be bothered to wait, so if each of us knows at least one like thi, multiply it up and you'll see what Sony could be missing out on.

Shame on you Sony/PD

Im buying NFS Hot Pursuit next week for my PC but I also have GT5 paid for too. As soon as I get GT5 I wont be playing any other racing game until I get fedup of GT5. It took four years of me to get tired of GT4 so I can see that happening with GT5 because the game is much deeper.

I think the exact opposite. Those "other games" sell more at launch and first weeks/months.

GT is a long runner. "Everyone" will buy GT, some at launch, some eventually.

That's what allows Sony to keep pushing it back...

There is always something else they want to shove in the spot light and make some more money....

Other games, 3D, Move...

Yeah, I'm trying to finish and get as much as trophies as I can for the games I have right now. And also I'll purchase NFS HP and finish it as fast as I can so I'll have nothing else to play beside GT5 ... well .... expect Call of Duty? .. maybe .. it's very addictive game y'know :sly:

All the talk of "pushing back" and Dec / 2011 release dates misses one of the main points of GT5...

... it's not just about selling the software. Sony will want to use GT5 to leverage as many PS3 sales as possible - and that isn't going to happen in February.

The best argument for getting a November release is Sony's desire for incresed system sales in the run up to Christmas. Yes, they'll get good GT5 software sales at any time and over time - but now the PS3 isn't a launch system anymore they really will want to hit the Christmas bundle sales...

When they had the 2nd November date set in stone, Sony Worldwide Studios’ European VP, Michael Denny said:
“I think when you have got a game like Gran Turismo, which is THE PlayStation franchise... I think that now we’ve announced the date and we know this is a Gran Turismo year, it’s not only exciting for us at PlayStation company, but for PlayStation fans and consumers. And it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. From a worldwide studio perspective, our strategy is always to concentrate on the highest quality possible."

Which means that they WILL do a BIG advert campain.
But we don´t see any campain... that frigthens me =/

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say I am new here and have been browsing around here for some time. If anyone is interested today at 2:30pm Sony is holding a conference at the BMO games conference. This would be a perfect time for them to announce a true release date for GT5. You can hear the conference via webcast, the link is below.
And the lady who is speaking has worked on GT in the past, just click on participants and then click on her name and it gives a description of her title and what she has done in the past including GT.

That too. That's why we already know there is/will be a GT5 bundle.

Hopefully it is revealed this afternoon by SCE, at the BMO conference, link is listed in my above post, for anyone interested.

It is the fourth year anniversary of PS3 in Japan at least, H BDAY PS3.

Let's hope so. But at the same time, they have had several opportunities to announce a date over the past couple of weeks.

In related news, it seems if GT5's delay was indeed to force 3.50 firmware and fight piracy, it may have been for nothing...

Pirates have now spoofed up to 3.50 firmware and seem close to getting PSN connectivity at the same time...

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/project-pl3-payload-spoofs-version-3-50-a-70296/

This means nothing of the sort. They are just faking the version string and HOPING the API is the same.

Pretty sure Sony would have been smart enough to include a NEW API call that's not in older firmware, all GT5 would have to do is call this API, if the APi call fails, refuse the load the game.

Hackers don't have the ability to decompile add new sourcecode and recompile firmware, they never will...

I've seen a few posts where people have said they are downgrading from the CE to the regular edition. Why?

Some kind of protest? Beats me, but if it guarentees my copy I'm fine with it.:dopey:

I guess I'm just adding to the rumor mill, but my buddy who manages a Gamestop was pretty sure they would at least be in the back within the next 7-10 days.

I've seen a few posts where people have said they are downgrading from the CE to the regular edition. Why?

Why show extra loyalty to Sony by paying so much when the extra content is largely cosmetic and the inclusion of GT4's cars is made to look worse by feature-stripping them?

I did the same with FM3 when I found out they wouldn't allow USB photo transfer and therefore the flash drive included in the LCE was a useless trinket.

Agreed. That's why I cancelled my CE pre-order. I thought: Do I really need or want a magazine with a bit of fancy artwork and slipcase? Not really interested in the 5 DLC custom cars. It's all just window-dressing really. Certainly not worth the extra money they are charging. As for the SE, that's a joke. I mean, £150 for what???? A small model GT-R and a few art photos more?

Sorry to burst your bubble but no chance.
Really hope I'm wrong but theirs no chance of that either.
