GT5 delayed

Many questions.

How long the game will be in print for this holiday? A 3 days delay without a context is not very useful. Is it 3 days out 5 manufacturing days, out of 15, 30?

Why do they have to delay manufacturing instead of using half the production of "movie A" (and others) for GT5's and extend "movie A" manufacturing later on, especially since most of it goes to a warehouse?

Now, that leads to another question, when the major part of the copies goes into warehouses, shouldn't you sell whatever you have on november 3rd. And if all those copies aren't sufficient keep printing, or print later on (wich is what they are doing anyway: printing copies for december). Are they scared of bad publicity for having no stocks, the Wii benefited from empty shelves, GT5 would too, it's a blockbuster.

If one would summarize Japanese culture in on word, it would be many things but "improvisation".

3 days could be 3 months in Kaz's world.
We can release when ever we like. Soon. 90%.
Apollo space programs. PS4 level of detail.
It's basically finished.

I still have not seen an official statement about going gold.
Or a going gold trailer, time trial competition, win a gold SLR, gold release party at Bogner Regis.

This game really has turned out to be some real laughing matter. Every time I tell a mate at work about the latest garbage they laugh.

"GT5 has been delayed again  "

"Still no release date for GT5 yet?" "Nah, just some stupid childish video about horns  "

"  "

I dont understand all this apollo sacecraft stuff....

i honestly cant see whats taken them 6 years to make.

didnt forza 3 take 2?

whats different? the graphics are uprated, the physics are uprated, more cars and a pointless track editor which will create millions of characterless tracks nobody will want to use. thats hardly 4 years extra work, especially for the flagship titles team surely?

i reckon too much time spent "researching" in racing cars playing Kaz.

i really think PD are VERY unprofessional. and need a huge kick up the arse.

then again its sony's fault for writing all the blank cheques.

we could have had half the game 3 years ago, called that GT5, and had all this extra crap and more cars now and called THAT GT 6!

and please no bikes, it would take a decade to come out!

Anyone noticed on the VisionRacer website there is a GT5 banner that says December 2010 in the corner? Could be speculation, could be true, I don't know... :guilty:

Send them a e-mail and tell them to get off the "Lets post false release dates" train and say its unprofessional. Hell I'll do it. [off to send e-mail]

Edit: Done, here is what I sent them :)

You really shouldn't post false information concerning the release date on the most anticipated racing game of this decade. Now get off of the "lets post false release date information train"

Almost double if not tripple the production crew of polyphony. Cars being made in overseas countries.

Brand New Physics engine which probably took 2-4 years. When you have a limited team like PD it takes a while. High detail cars are created from scratch. Some tracks started from scratch while others are refined and brought up to GT5 levels.

Even though these comments are a load of bull, Its what separates GT from Forza and the likes. The creator is actually involved heavily in driving and not so much developing, but getting to understand how certain cars feel. As Clarkson said when trying GT4, the individuality of each car in GT is remarkable. When talking about an SL55 and SL60 'I believe' he said that they're almost impossible to tell apart when driving in real life, but GT manage to replicate that.

No it would have taken the same amount of time because this isn't like Forza 3 where its just an update of Forza 2. Its a game built completely from scratch.

I'd rather have a game thats different in each iteration which GT has managed to do then the same **** recycled every two years.

Yep, it's a shame you can't take charge of the operations from behind your computer there. I'm sure we would all be enjoying magically better and more frequent GT titles.

Yep, the horns videos are childish. Not you.

Didn't you get your invite to the launch at Bogner Regis.. I heard the Esplanade was to be closed down for the event and they had over a 1000 cars lined up each of them sounding there new horns and flashing there lights!!!

with a brace of Suzuka Pit girls handing out free copies of GT5 for the persons that could correctly Identify the correct number of Nissans within the amassed cars! The Invites were for late in the afternoon so you could catch the day night transitions... but then the weather kicked in and it got delayed... typical

Perhaps not

Lets hope we get a new release date next week. If not I am going to cancel my Hol :(

Delayed by 3 days? If that is true then it would be the 5th November. Which could be their plans all along for a Global Release. (Just saying)

Also remember there are different versions of the game for different langages, so each one would be going "Gold" in different printing companies or the same global company, but I would of thought that Sony would have there own printing company.

PD missed there date by 3 days, but unfortunately Sony now much make the decision when to release it. So it wont be November 5th.

Pointless track editor? If most people who play GT5 even use it only a few times and enjoy it, then it already proves it has a point.
Nobody is even capable to drive millions of tracks anyway, even if they all were great, and how can you claim those tracks to have no character anyway?
Have you tried creating one already? Have you seen tracks created by users at all?
And assuming that everyone thinks the same way you do is a flawed logic in general but a pretty common misconception.

@ Slurm.

Yeah bitch that's right. What's wrong, eh!?

Why don't I give you premium to keep you from being so cruel and unkind.

Edit: Sorry I've changed my mind. Too bad mate.

Well, PD should probably start naming the product after release year....so instead of GT 6, it should probably be GT 2016. :)

I'm taking things with a grain of salt. The Firmware and missed delivery date seem plausible enough to delay the game until late/early Nov/Dec.

so apparently P.C. Richard & Sons didn't get the memo on the delay of GT5. Was flipping through the circulars this morning (we get them a day early with delivery) and got to the the PC Richards flyer (which is an electronics chain). A few pages in I see "GT5 - Coming November 2nd - Pre-order NOW!"

i just lol'ed ... they need to fire their entire marketing department :)

I've heard of websites putting up bogus dates, but to actually print a flyer ... damn.

I'm gonna show up there on the 2nd and demand my copy.

The problem with that is that pre-ordered copies, logically, should be delivered first. That would leave the ones that didn't pre-order having to wait however long it takes to catch up on the demand, and would really anger many people. If they didn't deliver the pre-ordered copies first and put them on the shelves instead, you would really anger those people that pre-ordered. They really have to have enough release day copies plus some, because it might take another month before a slot opens for production of more copies.

Lateral thinking is definitely not a Japanese trait, and you're on a right track on how to fix this thing. I said this earlier, but I think Sony should have just shoved off the production slots for the ****ty games and movies set to come out this holiday, honored the preorders made before 13 October with the first batch, then shipped to stores with the subsequent ones. Something tells me Sony isn't doing that.

Brutal yes, but effective. Getting GT5 out the door should be first priority if Sony has any sense about it. I don't think people are clamoring for whatever crappy Vince Vaughn vehicle or Move shovelware that's tying up GT5's production.

I just went to EB Games today, in the Fairview shopping mall, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. EB games is GameStop in the US.

Anyways, i told them about the delay, and they said they did not receive anything! She said the the Collector's edition is still scheduled for November 2nd, and the regular edition is scheduled for the 16th of November.... Ill keep you guys update, cuz the girl i spoke it ended up being one of my girlfriend's friend, lol.

While that's what would be "right" I have seen it go the other way quite a few times where stores just sell first come first serve regardless of pre orders.

You have to remember they want money in hand and selling to who's here now is the easiest way to do that.

If they hold back pre sales then the walk in customers will go elsewhere.

If the put preorders on the sheld they get those sales and the people who pre ordered might just keep their pre sale (if there really is a shortage and you can't buy elsewhere) and even if they pull their pre sale that's not really a sale lost because their copy was already sold to the walk in.

Seen it happen wuite a few times.

With gt5 though I can't imagine they won't be way overproducing to be safe.

WHAT? That was implied dumbass.

Like I said, Sony have a lot of videogames and movies in print all year long, why wait when you can swap some production around to make the november 3rd release date, Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition won't sell 1 million copies this holiday.

But that is, if the 3 days delay is the truth, and like spagetti69 said Kaz is crazy. My post was somewhat a way to point out the 3 days isn't the truth. If Sony trully missed it by 3 days and have to move the release to, what seems to be, a month later, they have to be the most helpless corporation on the face of the Earth, while their size would suggest the opposite.

However they had benefited from it in many ways, for example there would be a clash with COD7 and NFS HP (which im getting) so releasing during peak season would see sales rocket.

That's something I have trouble sorting out. Rumors are production issues, but Kaz tweeted about development issues. If the 3 day delay rumor is true, maybe Kaz's tweet is true if development issues made it 3 days late for production.

Anyway, the 3 day delay is what we want to believe because the alternative is much worse.

WHAT? That was implied dumbass.

I'm the dumbass? How would just selling what they have (not enough for the demand) on Nov 2 or Nov 3 be a good thing? You would make more people angry than happy if you done that, and hurt future sales. Now tell me I am a dumbass again, with that kind of thinking. Remember, when you point your finger at someone, there are 4 more pointing at you.

I understand what you are saying, but I was referring to what lalaurentide said that they should just release what they have produced on Nov 3, even though it probably wouldn't be enough supply for the demand. That is why I don't think they will release it until they know that they have enough copies to meet the demand. I do know that, if there was a shortage, that Gamestop better save my pre-ordered copy, or there will be a serious problem, because I have paid in full, so they already have my money.
