I'm the dumbass? How would just selling what they have (not enough for the demand) on Nov 2 or Nov 3 be a good thing? You would make more people angry than happy if you done that, and hurt future sales. Now tell me I am a dumbass again, with that kind of thinking. Remember, when you point your finger at someone, there are 4 more pointing at you.

Being late is seen as a sign of failure, not being able to satisfy the "overwhelming" demand a sign of success, it can only improve sales, ask the Wii. Some companies even use it to hype their products, ask Steve Jobs. I wouldn't advise it for an unknown brand, but GT can.

I understand what you are saying, but I was referring to what lalaurentide said that they should just release what they have produced on Nov 3, even though it probably wouldn't be enough supply for the demand.

I see what you're getting at.

If Sony trully missed it by 3 days and have to move the release to, what seems to be, a month later, they have to be the most helpless corporation on the face of the Earth, while their size would suggest the opposite.

Weird as it sounds, in the corporate world often bigger does mean slower and less nimble. When you're big enough it takes dozens of meetings and departments coordinating to change the brand of toilet paper in the bathrooms.

I dont understand all this apollo sacecraft stuff....

i honestly cant see whats taken them 6 years to make.

didnt forza 3 take 2?

whats different? the graphics are uprated, the physics are uprated, more cars and a pointless track editor which will create millions of characterless tracks nobody will want to use. thats hardly 4 years extra work, especially for the flagship titles team surely?

i reckon too much time spent "researching" in racing cars playing Kaz.

i really think PD are VERY unprofessional. and need a huge kick up the arse.

then again its sony's fault for writing all the blank cheques.

we could have had half the game 3 years ago, called that GT5, and had all this extra crap and more cars now and called THAT GT 6!

and please no bikes, it would take a decade to come out!

The difference is in the sales.

Forza (series as a whole): 11m sales worldwide.
GT(series): 55m sales worldwide.

The Forza SERIES just passed the sales of GT1. That, is laughable.

That is laughable. Where did you get the information from?

I looked at VGchartz and they have Forza series at 8.18m and the GT series at 53.87m with prologue and the PSP version included. Without the prologue and PSP version its at 45.68m.

By there chart GT5p out sold FM3.

Remember sales numbers don't necessarily show quality. Established is as good or better than "higher quality" in a lot of circumstances.

It would be interesting to see how GT would have done had it originally released into a genre with another already well established high qulaity game.

Considering GT4 was the last year for any competition towards the Forza series it had a great chance to get GT numbers. I believe it does show quality.

VG charts is a little behind the times.

From PD themselves:

Forza 3 hit 2m sales this Feb according to..everywhere, and the other two games can be found here

Indeed it does.

I hear a lot of Forza fanboys use this line, that sales don't mean it's a good game. Which is funny, because sales are basically the de facto measurement for everything in the corporate world.

This isn't a Beta-VHS war folks, GT does surpass the quality AND sales of Forza.

What ball are you catching?? Forza has nothing to do with Gt5 being delayed.

Not to mention the total market dominance of the PlayStation 1 and 2.

It's funny how a troll, Marsekay, can breath life back into a thread...

Huh? What has the measurement used by the corporate world has to do with the subjective perception of the consumer?
Ofcourse good sales don't automatically indicate a good quality game, sales only indicate popularity nothing more.
Initial popularity that is unless a game is aimed a consistent sales during a long lifespan, again sales is all that matters to the corporate world.
They only worry about poor quality if that threatens future sales, which they call customer satisfaction.
It's by no means a sign of good quality if a product sells well.

Well GT is better in every quantifiable aspect of a racing game, more cars, more tracks, both of wich are more detailed and look closer to reality, physic is closer to reality too as both claim to be simulations, graphics are closer to reality too, shadows, ambient lights, reflections, color saturation. All those things wich can be observed objectively are part of the reason a majority of people will subjectively prefer GT over Forza, it make for a more appealing and enjoyable experience. So GT is both subjectively and objectively a better game than Forza so far.

By the way, when you ask "What has the measurement used by the corporate world has to do with the subjective perception of the consumer?" Answer: it has everything to do with it, the more people like it the more sales, sales represent the subjective appreciation of a product, that include the actual product itself and the branding. What it has nothing to do with, is its objective quality, even though it plays a major part in the public perception and appreciation.

Not necessarily... there is a big difference between an untapped market, and a market saturated with a high quality product already that just hasn't had a release in the last few years.

Oh no, I can see where this is headed.

Got an email today from Amazon. According to them the new release date is December 31. I know that's probably just a placeholder but thought I'd pass along the information.

what the hell does forza has to do with GT5 being delayed ? the forza series is for kids and ricers . let's get back to the topic please.
