Of course that [1/1/2011] is not valid as it is on a Saturday and is just a place holder until they get a real release date.

My brother works at gamestop 1/ 1 is not the true date its just a place holder. What his bosses are saying that the game is still suppose to ship sometime this year. 1/1/11 is not the true date. I just thought I would add my 2 cents in im new

Welcome to GTPlanet! You will enjoy it here, I only joined sometime last month and have been happy to stay, thats why I've got 200+ posts.

It sucks it's delayed, got a PS3 just for it :(

Oh well, got GT5P, Motorstorm, and the games for my 360 to play on until GT5 is released.

Honestly, stop it with the release date assumptions... Until PD announces one, all of those store's guess is as good as your's and mine.

And, simply put, if PD announces a release date, it will probably be posted on GTP before most online stores will be able to update their product information regarding GT5...

Agreed. If I had 2 cents for every one of those release date posts I saw.........

What happened to the rules of the release date thread? This forum would be emptied out!!

Here's my two cents.
There's still one hurdle to over come to convince me that a holiday season release will happen.
Who's going to burn the discs and in a timely matter?
Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't the Blu-Ray production schedule decided six months in advance? Who(movie/ game) producer is going to move their time slot this holiday season to allow PD to burn oh let's say 40 million copies of GT5 for a world wide release? Now factor in the delivery time for such a huge game.
I believe this was the reason why March 2010 was chosen to release it this year. Not to conflict with the 2009 holiday releases.
I don't know what the delivery schedule for a world wide release would be, but its got to be at least 10 days.
My local GameStop has told me if it were to have released Nov 2. The game would have arrived in their back room three days prior.
To me March 2011 is still the time frame for GT 5.
Again correct me if I'm wrong. My two cents is up.

Well for one thing they are not looking to print 40 million copies just yet. I'm sure they would be happy if they ended up needing this many but from what I saw they are looking to print 7 Mil+ which will likely be more than enough for the first run.

I really do not understand why so many people seem to doubt that they will give us a new date next week and/or that new date will be before Christmas. I look for the game to be 3-4 weeks late meaning 23rd Nov or 1st Tuesday in December.

I just think the time slot wheather its 7m or my overlly 40m is gone. No game or movie producer wants to be told that their product has be pushed aside to allow PD to produce their product.

Sony produces many things, so it's certainly possible for them to slow the production of a couple of blue ray movies to make room for GT5 production...it all depends on the profit margin.

If we take sony's word, then GT5 is definitely their "flagship" title, therefore they cannot allow to delay it for "simple" production timing.

There must be another (economical) incentive for sony...like releasing the game for the holidays to get a better financial report for the end of the calendar year?
(yes i know fiscal year for US companies is in march)

That already been posted somewhere on those forums, but check this out.

That game missed it's printing cycle as well, but there will be only 4 days delay. If they really had so strict shedule, then no way that game were released before january at least.

Also, based on some info from that site:

Even by october 09 they could produce 23m blu-rays each month (13m PS3 games) and i bet it's even more now. And after CoD/Assasins Creed there's no really any big titles will come out this year for PS3.
Assuming that prinitng for CoD already finished (or will be in a week or so) and then they will print AC, they will have a lot of time to print enough of bds with GT5 if release date will be somewhere at early december.

^Interesting and hopefully I can be proven wrong.
At 49 years of age I don't have much waiting left.

Hehe why, you planning to stop gaming so soon? I wont stop until I'am dead and underground. Wich probably gives me about 70 more years of gaming.

Maybe I get to experience Gran Turismo 5 :)

Considering the delays for LBP2, SOCOM, and DC Universe, could Sony have anticipated this production issue with GT5 and tried to make room at the printers for GT5 to make a holiday release? If so, that's plenty of room to make a mid-November/early December release, I hope.

I still hope they shove off some crappy movies from their production slots.

This is GT we're talking about. They need maybe 5-7 million copies to be available at launch.

Ok, ok sorry for the late response to the age factor posts.
Yes I'm one of the original Playstation supporters when it first came out.
I have every GT game including the three GT 3 Concepts and the Prologues.
GT5 will be my first with a wheel and a driving rig.
