As a Vision Racer customer I have personally spoken with David Harvey.

I can tell you, I was not surprised that you got a response from him.

In my dealings with him he is a man of his word, and is passionate about the role that simulation is having and will continue to have in the field of Racing.

It's no surprise to me that his products are used at many media events both in the sporting world and the automotive world.

I suspect that David is not alone amongst product manufacturers that we deal with. He's in a specialist market.

I find it strange that your telling him that his information..which "has come directly from PlayStation partner emails" is not correct!

Do you have other information or are you speculating that the information in the partner emails is incorrect!!

Do you have access to these same emails?

Why do you feel it's our job as forum members to create a crusade against one single company when so many retailers the world over are posting similar information? ("Send them a e-mail and tell them to get off the "Lets post false release dates" train and say its unprofessional. Hell I'll do it.")

This frankly can bring this forum under disrepute and undo the work of so many. let's embrace those that produce and invest in our hobbies, rather than drive them away..

Sorry for the rant.. sometimes I can only take so much negativity..

Now to get back on thread...

It appears were still delayed

If you are not happy with what I said that is your opinion and I respect that. But for people to put up a date of a game that they have no idea what the release date is and the only reason they put December is so they could maximize sales during the Christmas Season. I mean come on who goes and buys a playseat everyday. Those things aren't cheap, and they will do what whatever they think is necessary to make money. End of story.

And furthermore nowhere did I say that "we as forum members need to create a crusade against one single company." Someone posted the link and I wanted to call them out on it. I'm sure your buddy David Harvey is a swell guy and that is the response I received in him.

i had a dream last night that the release date was november 30th... in the dream, sony/pd were staging this huge live-for-TV event in which they were hand-delivering the "gold" disc to the disc-making facility. there were choppers all over the place and it was a jubilant scene. lol.

then i woke up and checked gtplanet and well, yup, just a dream. i need hotter dreams.

https://www.gtplanet.net/sony-australia-guarantees-gran-turismo-5-by-christmas/

The above links a story on the GT5 News Section in which Sony Australia 'Guarantees' GT5 by Christmas. We have no way of knowing what the folks from Visionracer were or weren't told by Sony. The information filtering out of Sony is probably vague and varied. They're a big enough company that they don't speak with one voice. There are probably hundreds of Sony reps all over the world who are being put under enormous pressure by their retail vendors who all want to sell the game, post ads, plan strategies and be the first to do it.

The U.K store, HMV has the 1st of December as the release date. This date sounds about right, I hope its this or earlier of course.

I strongly disagree with the above.

First of all GT5 will easily reach 7 million. Now im basing this on the fact that GT5P sold nearly 5 million. Also you are underestimating how many people will buy a PS3 just for GT5. I know of 15 people (Xbox live friends/neighbours) who are going to buy a PS3 for GT5.

Now many Xbox 360 owners feel the same way as me. The 360 console has provided endless hrs of entertainment but recently many feel as though its reached its peak. Also the exclusive titles are now starting to dry up.

I reckon the final sales of GT5 will be less than GT4 but still sell around 9million. However as more people leave then 360 and move to the PS3 I reckon GT6 will outsell GT5. Mark my words the PS3 might of got off to a slow start but eventually it will be more popular than the 360. Unfortunately MS are going to pay the price of not having a Blu ray drive.

A lot of this products sales will depend on when the game is released. If it is released too close or after Christmas it will hurt Polyphony Digital's sales. Many people get their Christmas shopping out of the way in November/Early December. As a parent, if my child asked for a PS3 and I got them one, I seriously doubt I would go out to the store again "around Christmas" to drop another $65 on a videogame when I more than likely just spent $300+ on a system and picked up an additional game. My thought process would be to wait a while after Christmas when I could get it on sale. More than likely, after buying the system, I would pick up the "latest and greatest" title out at that particular time.

With regards to the United States and GT5, many people here are only focusing on "GT5" and how many years people have been waiting for it, they are not taking into account how bad the economy is, how high unemployment is, and how "expensive" (relatively speaking) videogames are. Releasing too late puts GT5 behind Call of Duty: Black Ops and Assassins Creed 2. Many parents who are purchasing videogames for their children will be picking up what is "popular" and what is available. It was this way when I worked for Best Buy, this way when I worked for CompUSA, and this way when I worked for EB Games/Gamestop.

Having said all that, if I were PD and I wanted to maximize sales here in the United States, I would release either Mid Nov. - Early December, or wait until 2nd Quarter 2011.

As far as XBOX owners feelings that the console has reached it's peak, I don't hear or see that at all from who I know. "Exclusive titles" alone are not as large of a market motivator as it once was either since most games created cross-platform are still better on the 360. The 360 also has Live which is better than Sony's Online offering. In fact, many of the people I know that own a PS3 have more recently picked up a 360.

i must have posted this 10 times by now... its a filler date.. i work there.. we don't know anything yet.

i really think all this crap needs to stop now.

its delayed, get over it, we'll get another date soon enough, its not the end of the world.

Alright! I wasn't aware of other people saying this and I wanted to inform, I'm more than aware that it's not the end of the world. Just informing :)

I went into my local tescos last night and asked them when its out, a guy called into the back room and asked his "mate"

his mate said it came out yesterday.

i'm off to buy it tonight.

lol, we will find out on wednesday. if we dont, then try to forget about it untill march 2011!

Save the gas and stay home.
These back-room-mates/managers are always hilarious. Be it at gamestop or anywhere else.

All good things come to those who wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and wait,and wait,and wait,and wait,and wait,and wait,and wait,and wait,and ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

So is it safe to say that if we don't see a new release date by friday of this week, that the game will not come out in 2010?

well i reckon sony are going to want at LEAST a month of pre release MEGA promotion, (ie we know the release a month in advance) so the Ad's can come on TV etc.

lets say the last plausible release date is tues 21st december? (for a 2010 release) so we need to know the release date on the 23rd of november at the VERY latest for a 2010 release i reckon.

so they/we have about 4 weeks left.

if it goes past the paris games show on wed with no date, i would worry, if we get to the 23rd of nov with no date, i'm 99% certain it will be a march 2011 date.

do games ever get released early Q1's in years?

Yes, I've seen many games released in January and February. For example, Burnout Paradise, a high rating PS3 game, was released on 1/22/08. To go on the idea of commercials.... not all games have commercials and I don't remember any previous GT having one so why do they need to give us a month in advance? They could give us a week in advance and it would be fine as well

All GT games have had commercials. They actually tend to have multiple commercials in the US.

I guess my explanation to my opinion is that I've never seen them. I've seen trailers online but no commercials ever.

i'm sorry, if youre releasing a game with this much of a following, and is most likely 1: your make or break game for the console wars going forward. 2: worth big money at xmas and 3: they have already started making the ads so i cant see them paying god knows how much for a week or two's airtime.

it has to be at least a month. a week is nothing.

Since they've said essentially in reports the game is expected to have a release date announcement by early November, I fail to see why the latest possible date for an announcement would affect the commercials. If you are saying there needs to be a month air-time then tell me, were there commercials aired from October 2nd till October 10th since that was 1 month prior to the previously stated release? (I don't see much of commercials so that's why I ask)

what i'm saying is they wont start airing commercials one week before the release date, that wont create as much hype as they are going to want.

Commercials don't have to be around a month before release. One, two weeks tops for Europe will do fine. I can't remember seeing TV ads before release in Europe in the past. I think it was two to four days before release for GT4 if I am correct. Magazines were earlier.

Commercials for games typically start airing the same week that they're going to be released. And some times they'll start airing a week before. For example, Black Ops will be out in two weeks and there are currently no commercials airing for it (aside from the pre-order from GameStop made ads). This despite Activision saying that it'll be the biggest entertainment launch of the year.

this must mean that the intended delayed date was already inevetably not going to happen as there would have been a lot of advertising leading upto the release ergo sony must have known it was not going to happen on the date they said

....

Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.
