don't get your hopes up, it's Toronto, rarely will anything extremely special happen to us and it's such a small event so I don't expect to see anything new. I'd be surprised if we get at least the TGS demo but i guess we'll find out next week.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't expect anything ground-breaking. It's just interestingly timed in the run-up to gold :).

I probably won't even be going, so grab some snaps for us!

heh heh that'll be my brothers job, he's the camera man but yea I'll definitely post stuff up

sorry to hear you can't attend :(

Anyways,I think someone should make a petition thread regarding SrRd ban. I think we should really make an effort to bring this guy back abd show our appreciation for him.

I agree. 👍 I was going to but decided against it since chances are it'll get locked quick. And that's a shame.

LOL guys, as emotional as I am myself about this, we should definately stop right now, two mods warned us already and I am one of those lucky guys having an infraction, which will never expire.

It's Polyphony digital guys! The standard cars will not look like they came straight out of Gran Turismo 4.
From the look of the pics, and what we've been hearing, it seems that the Standards are the high-detail Photo Mode cars from GT4, and not the gameplay models that most people are assuming they are. Which won't put them all that far behind the Premiums, really, except for the interiors.

Except that the GT-R Proto is a Premium car without an interior...........

Perhaps, perhaps not. Your statement has as much proof as mine. Both cars have no interior view and black windows, right?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Prototype and Production versions are different are they not?

There will always be those stubborn optimists.

That Datsun does look great by the way.

Yes, the (GT)Planet is full of people like this... on both sides of the positive/negative fence.

Anyways, is not that the point? The Datsun looks great, and that's all I, or anyone really needs to see.

So, if they are visually of a pretty similar standard and both have no interior wouldn't that make them comparable?

At least that's how I see it. I am not swinging for the fences here. Plus, it's easy to see that even in a low-res screen, the car looks good.

Of course they won't. The textures and refections for both Premium and Standard should be indentical.

Even if the Proto doesn't have an interior it was still built from scratch (like the other premiums cars), with much more detail than the standard models from GT4.

You mean something like this? (cars with tinted windows)

Quality models sans interior modeling?

That car is premium btw

I think the difference between standard and premium won't be really noticeable during gameplay/racing. Photomode is a different story.

Hmmm, I guess Standards wont look as bad as some of us Thought...💡

Wow, that's very hot!

The Datsun looks very nice, if the Standards look like that, I suppose mixed races between Standards and Premiums will be possible.

How about the hi-res trailer, which shows they don't look that good?

...They looked fine. Only the people who paused a frame and compared to GT4 pics noticed similiar polygons. No one will ever notice these kinds of things. There was nothing really too wrong with the GT4 models. Upscaling it is no problem, they can be HD. However, the lighting wasn't good in GT4, but now, It will share GT5's lighting.. With the addition of it being upscaled, I think it will look great.

👍 I have no problem with them I will enjoy all 1000 cars.

I agree. With 6 years and the amount of money spent (I think Kaz said $60 million but it's believed to be closer to $80 million. At least that's what the final estimated cost is), it would be a shame if it ended up like Shenmue. ($70 million dollars spent on development and it didn't do very well in sales.) But if pre-order sales are anything to go by, it might just outsell Halo Reach.

According to Wiki, the GT series is the 13th best selling series of all time and one of only 2 racing series in the top 20 (the other one being Need for Speed)

However, I suspect by the time GT6 rolls around, I suspect GT might jump into the top 10. it's actually pretty impressive 'cause there are only 3 franchises younger than it that are above it. (Although, they really shouldn't count the Sims as it's sales probably include the expansion packs.)

What pre-order sale? Is there any official info on the numbers or are you just making things up again?

I don't have them, but Amazon.com's pre-orders were for the game were high.

Well that answers that. Just your usual FUD. They were? Again, where did you get these numbers from?

Really? I didn't need to pause and "hunt for pixels" to notice the difference right off the bat. The "only" problem with GT4 models is how dated they look now compared to premiums plus the obvious lack of cockpit view.

I said it before and I'll say it again, standards are fine in motion. The PSP intro movie has a lot of GT5 footage and features plenty of standard cars
