Damn, a lot of people are going through a GT5 depression right now. I do agree that PD should release some more info, if not hold a press conference and near the end have a Q&A where viewers can send in questions as well, that way we don't get stupid questions from places like Gamestop or IGN where they ask "What was your breakfast?" or "Is the Bugatti Veyron in the game?" (it is by the way, I mean why wouldn't it be?).

That way, we can ask the questions, and we'll either be satisfied or get the usual riddle answer. But if you think about it, Gran Turismo 5 is Polyphony Digital's biggest game yet, and it may be the biggest PS3 game so far, why release almost all the information? Wouldn't you guys prefer playing through the game only to find some sweet surprise that PD never told us about? I know I would.

Yes, I would as well but that's not really what's upsetting myself and (possibly) other users. I don't think it's too much to ask PD if all the GT4/GTPSP tracks are gonna be returning. That's pretty much the only thing about GT5 that I'm worried about at this moment. I'm confident that all the cars from those 2 games will be back which means my beloved Delorean and the Lotus Esprits will be there. But I wanna know if I'll ever get to race those cars round Midfield, Deep Forest, Grand Valley, Infineon, etc. I can understand PD wanting to keep some of the newer features a secret for us to discover, however.

I forgot that those tracks were in GT4 haven't been announced in GT5. Well I see no reason as to why some of those tracks wouldn't return, but don't expect every track from GT4 in GT5. I'd only expect the big name tracks to return. I'm not talking about tracks like Nurburgring or Laguna Seca, but the tracks in GT4 that everyone loved. I never got to own the game so I wouldn't know what tracks those would be, but look through the tracks and look at the ones everyone loves. Expect those to return, and if we're lucky, more tracks from previous GT games will be released as DLC. Not saying it will, but you never know.

Im still curious about any new cars being confirmed, knowing that a handful wont be disclosed before release. Hope CCX is in but anything is possible as we've seen.

I think the GT website will give us updates each week through October. Otherwise it would be too weird. And we will probably have reviews showing up in about three weeks.

Well, the Lotus is a car right? Midfield is a track right? I see no reason why we can't combine the two. PD wouldn't release a game in which we can only race premium cars on premium tracks, standard cars on standard tracks, it'd be pointless. Don't worry about it, I'm sure we can drive every car on every track, except for the go-kart tracks since having 16 cars races there would just be a demolition derby.

No no no! hahaha that's not what I'm talking about. I'm wondering if those tracks will be the game. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm terrible at explaining stuff. :guilty:

EDIT: Ah! I see that you modified your post so it looks like you understood what I was saying. I think, I dunno. I even confuse myself when I talk.

It's ok I just got confused, don't worry about it, but you see what I'm talking about right? I'm sure the big name GT4 tracks will return, while the smaller unnoticed tracks won't, but maybe as DLC we'll get most of the tracks to return.

I really don't see any reason for most GT4/PSP tracks to NOT return.
Maybe the majority of old dirt tracks are going to get replaced with random generated rally stages in the same sceneries.

Watching the Petit Lemans today at Road Atlanta pretty good race. I hope I am right about Road Atlanta being in and it would be awesome with day to night transitions.

And I don't see a reason not to include cockpits for all cars, but that doesn't mean they will. Making cockpits or tracks is a lot of work. Don't expect that they just include everything.

Nobody knows what will be in, but we will find out soon.

i think that there may be a good hand full of "race" cockpits. and when you turn your vette into a "race model" you get one of the "race" cockpits. thats just my guess. it seems to make sense to me at least and seems like the perfect work around for the situation.

i'd call it a traffic jam

You think this is real? Would be confirmation of DLC.

Hm, there's a typo right at the start: "Polyphony Digital present..."

That looks pretty slick. Im all up for DLC as long the cars are new and not some other adaption of cars. :D

How long before release do games take before they go gold usually?

One month,

Giving them two weeks for production. (Creating the disc's and putting them in boxes along with the already printed cover and manual.)
And two weeks for distribution. (Shipping the games to the supplyers, Who ship them to the retailers, Who put them on the shelfs for you to pick up or ship them to your home on the release date.)

I've seen them go later than that, as short as two weeks. Granted, that's from the time of the announcement of the game going gold.. for all we know, it went gold a month before that and they just didn't tell anyone.

Either way, we can't be looking at another week or two of programming left, at the most. To say that it's 99.9% complete would probably be accurate.

Basically what he was saying is that the GT4/GTPSP content is going to make it into GT5 in an upscaled form.

That is what standard cars are. Upscaled GT4 cars. That is why they don't have a cockpits. Every car that has been "re-made" from the ground up is a premium car.

The same will be true of tracks. They may be trying to avoid the premium/standard label, but it will most likely follow the same pattern as the cars. Notice the emphasis on "totally rebuilt for GT5" when discussing the Nurburgring, Trial Mountain, etc

Thats a long explanation, just to say, that what he was saying does make sense, and that not having cockpits for standard cars was predictable all along.

This could be complete BS so take it with a grain of salt for now

Personally, I can’t wait for the release of Qore this week.
Do you know why?
Because it’s going to have a feature on GT5! (Shock, now is it?)
Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to download it, so tell me, Sid, if you can, will there be any new content (Meaning: anything that we hardcore Gran Turismo fans haven’t seen before) for us to see?

No word on Qore yet, but look for a post early Monday AM. It’ll have details and a video trailer.

Thank you for the heads up. 👍

Hopefully, it is true. And I assume that Sid Shuman is some kind of "mod" over there? (never spent much time there)

Yeah, he's a mod. I think that there's a good possibility that it will be in it as GT5 has yet to be featured on Qore and this will be the last episode of Qore before GT5 is released. Now whether or not any new details will come from it is another issue. But if nothing else we should get some very nice HD footage of the game.

Yeah it was a great race.

I found that Michelin Man very annoying though at the end of the race who was always in the background of drivers being interviewed. He just kept giving an annoying thumbs up in the background.

Can anyone compile a list of the events that happen before the GT5 launch?
Not like demo events but Qore, first review, when it is expected to go gold and any other major events along with the date beside them?

I think we are expecting the first review on the 27th according to some magazine. (take w/ a grain of salt)

There is the event just before that in France. Supposedly it will have Kaz and Loeb there.

Now, we are receiving word that there may be some news as early as Monday.

Pretty sure that is about it.

Alright then that would be quite good if it were true.
And is it this monday (4th), or next monday?
Im shocking with time zones but i ask the question because where i live it is late Sunday afternoon and Monday would be 'tomorrow', not 'Monday', if you get where im coming from

The way I understand it, it means this coming Monday. If you go to the previous page you will see the post by Solid Snake. That is where this news comes from.
