I got the impression that it was just another demo. So I guess it's "the full game"?

It's one of the launch events for the press so I would assume it is the full game or at the very least the final build with all features included.

Personally, I would be very surprised, pleasantly surprised, if it is closed to the final build.

The 26th of October is going to take place the world premiere event in Madrid.
I suppose that's the date in which they will unveil the 'beast'.
I also think they will leave something for the launch day (SEMA is scheduled the 2nd of November)

Yes. At most it would be final retail build but track and feature limited.

No point kaz promising surprises to fans, to then have it all ruined 3 weeks before by the press!

Headtracking quality = Unknown
3DTV resoluion, effect quality and performance = Unknown

Just some things.....

Oh my god, How stupid do the rollovers look 👎. I have just been watching the you tube vid posted in the news section and I think the rollovers are VERY badly done, yes its an old fiat 500 (think i spotted the new one aswell when she selects the car :) ) but the car just rolls over when she corners even without hitting anything ! now that just does not happen in real life with cars. NOT impressed. If the final game is anything like this it is going to go down badly with casual gamers.
the fact there is no real promotion of the game tells me something about how happy they are with it .

I think this is just the final 'quiet before the storm' period, can't be that long before the hype train starts rolling again, this time in full relentless hyperdrive until and shortly after release day I reckon.
I have a feeling however there won't be many revelations, maybe only some teasers, they wish to show us and most unknown stuff will be left as a surprise to uncover ourselves when playing it for the first time.
Or we get one trailer which contains an overload of new info ( cars and tracks ) edited so fast that by the time we've analyzed it fully the game will already be released ( or less than half an hour judging by the combined analyzing skills on this forum ).

A rollover can in real life also occur when you don't hit anything, turning sharply when you're going too fast for example, especially on a narrow car like the Fiat 500 or a big SUV with a high centre of gravity.
Not impressed by your basic knowledge of real life car physics to be honest.

A car like the original Fiat 500, for realistic driving, should have in the game N1, or at most N2 tires.
Somehow, I think that the one in the video had more grippy tires, hence the seemingly excessively easy rollovers.
I also suspect that the stability control driving assist was disabled. When enabled, it should prevent rollovers (as real ones).
The fact that there was a Polyphony Digital representative together with the two girls is very "suspect". He was suggesting tracks and cars and most probably selecting driving options.
I think PD simply wanted to show rollovers, and they did it in a creative and clever way.

I hope so, that was far too easy to roll over to be honest.

this sorta on/off topic,
but i wonder if you can turn off the windshield wipers.

Most modern cars have auto wipers, which would suggest wipers are computer controlled...but then older cars do not have auto wipers. Hard to know how this would work in old cars in an endurance race with dynamic weather...

i don't think that 500 has any ASM IRL....

but still 500 is easy to rollover

Please show me some examples of a normal car rolling over when turning at any speed in 1 direction. you maybe want to search youtube for the moose test and you will find that to roll a car you have to turn hard in both directions to cause a roll. so my "real life knowlege" is fine. maybe you should do some research before posting.

HA!, I only had to search for my old posts, as I knew I had had posted it before in this thread :)

Article from December 14, 2009

Fiat on Top gear track, in the wet :)
BTW if PD use this view for the "bonnet cam" that would be cool....

But that's impossible!!

you sound really :dunce:, someone show him the reliant robin vid, point is little cars can flip very easily due to the small wheelbase and high center of gravity of the car.

The only car I can remember seeing (in person at the track rather than TV) roll over was an Abarth 695 and the driver - an experienced racer - didn't hit anything, at least not before the roll ;) I think he said afterwards that he'd had to adjust his line to avoid another car, presumably it was just enough of a shift of weight to cause the outside wheels to dig in and send the car over the top of them.

So yes, rollovers can happen without impacts, but they generally require a combination of too much grip, a high centre of gravity and a sudden weight transfer.

The ASM part was in answer to the "rollovers would be a let down for beginners" one. In GT it's always enabled by default and should prevent them like real stability control systems. In this way beginners are safe.

If you pay attention, tires strangely generate a lot of rolling noise.
I think they were deflated on purpose (it almost seems the video makers knew that the car would 100% rollover in the wet)
Deflated tires in addition to being noisy can make rollovers much easier.

But that's impossible!!

Even taking into account the wrong aspect ratio of the video, the car here is much taller and narrower than the old Fiat 500. Rollovers with such car with sudden maneuvers would be rather easy, especially if they've been staged to happen (deflated tires, unbalanced luggage, etc).

Did anyone ever have a good theory for the missing #3? I'm guessing that is something related to Super GT, but I wonder why they would hide it. Come to think of it, we haven't heard much about Super GT at all.

Never noticed that 3 was missing. Intresting to see what it will be.

For the Mercedes-Benz AMG Driving School it would be great to have Sabine Schmitz do voice over.
If you did bad she would say 'i could do that in a VAN!',
and if you did well she would say 'I want to have your babies!' :)

That rollover vid reminds me of the top gear reliant robin segment.

Why is that woman wearing a house on her head?

the fiat on looses the rear and the car goes sideways which then causes the roll (this is not what happens in the gt5 roll vid)
Hamonds bedford rascal is not realy a good argument tbh as its nothing like the fiat 500 the fiat is a city car with rwd and rear mounted engined so car physics say it would understear, Plus i never said van's cant roll i said cars.
I'm realy Dumb ! duuh i'm not the 1 comparing a 3 wheeler to a car.

You asked for "any" car. And you've been proven wrong 2 times. It's probably best to backtrack now...

My dad owned an old Fiat 500 and it flipped it in the middle of the motorway on a windy day. And it wasn't hurricane windy, just some wind. Those things are easy to tip over, let alone doing it at 80Km/h

Really?! We just showed you a vid of what happens when a top-heavy car goes around a corner. Somehow I don't think you'd get it until you experience it.

Next Wednesday GT5 will be revealed to the press at the Sony Benelux head quarters in Badhoevedorp, the Netherlands.

The people from the press will be able to play the game at this launch event and get live tips from Dutch race driver Jeroen Bleekemolen.

Source (in Dutch)

Denur, do you know if this will be the full game and not a demo? If this is so, then maybe we can expect hands on reports next Wednesday and possibly the first Reviews by then :)

They're arrows (supposedly). It's the trademark symbol of this japanese TV program: http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/sakiccho/

the fiat on looses the rear and the car goes sideways which then causes the roll (this is not what happens in the gt5 roll vid)

That's why in my opinion the culprit were the tires.
I would expect such a little car to rollover with sudden maneuvers or high angle sliding at "high" speeds (or sudden lateral forces such as wind as previously suggested), however the rollover process here seemed relatively slow and gradual, as if the car had more grip than normal.
