SL65 AMG comes with Automatic only transmision ;)

But i just can't imagine this car with automatic. It is just to great in prologue ... :nervous:

All modern automatic transmissions have some sort of "tiptronic" mode where you can manually select gears sequentially.

Personally I want to see the automatic mode correctly simulated too in GT (low throttle = change gear at low rpm).
Or the nuances of real automatic transmissions (most of them automatically shift gear, no matter what, if redline is reached in semimanual mode, for example).

What is the difference? Telling the car when to shift is the problem. It shouldn't be possible to use MT when the real version comes with AT transmission.

I don't know for sure with the AMG's of Mercedes but many automatic gearboxes can be shifted up and down manualy. Their is no clutch in GT5P if I am correct so it is an automatic gearbox with the opportunity to shift manualy.

If all the automatic trasmission cars in GT5 allow some sort of manual shift like tiptronic (in real life) then I don't have a problem with it. Then we just need the shifting animation when we actually "force" the car to shift.

Can somebody provide me evidence of the existence of an SCE Russia? The only thing a google search gets me is a joke Facebook page.

It's part of SCEE.

In a manual cars in GT (eg Skyline GTR) when you press upshift on the controller, GT goes through the process of switching gears for you, that is including clutching and allowing the revs to drop (upshift, throttle blip for downshift) and when the engine speed has matched the drivetrain speed the clutch is released, this is why often GT shifts are rather slow and often referred to as granny shifts (in full GT's light flywheels and better clutches speed it up). If you enable the clutch in a manual car (eg Skyline GTR) like in GT5 you need to control the lot, which also allows you to shift before the engine speed has matched the drivetrain speed which causes the engine revs to get dragged down (or dragged up for downshifting) allowing faster shifts in GT5P. You could even flat shift until it was patched out due to abuse. This also taking off from a standing start, can't just press the throttle and go because you control the clutch.

However if you select a car which is auto only like the SL55 it will shift in a automatic type fashion, meaning gears will drag in typical way a torque converter/band/clutch type auto does during it's shifts. If you select "MT" you can choose when you want the gears to be selected and if you choose AT GT will make the choice (usually start of redline). You cannot enable the clutch for these automatic cars. GT choosing when to select the gears (or you for MT) is totally realistic as almost all automatics have gear old or sports modes allowing you tell the trans when to shift. For example the 1,2,3,D options on conventional on peformance cars and +/- gate for performance autos. The AMG allow you to use paddles.

The end result is you cannot select "D" for automatics in GT, GT will always choose to go through the gears even if you choose AT (GT will make the gear choices then).

It would be nice for a choice, for example you want to buy a 2010 Camaro you have the option for manual or auto fitted so if you choose manual even if the driving options is "AT" GT will just do if for you (controlling the clutch) and if you choose auto the car will always have the torque converter type auto behavour and even in "MT" mode it will just go through the sports select modes.

Many cars in GT5P seem to be a mix up like the Skyline 350GT which was modelled in the manual form and the Skyline 370GT which was modelled in the auto form. The Evo was modelled in the dual clutch form (and does shift like a dual clutch). Would be nice to have the option when we buy it but whatever the modelled trasmission the "MT" and "AT" options will remain.

Everybody, relax! (Except alucard0712 :))
The abovementioned delay is only for Russian Federation, as our local distributors are having troubles with CIS version yet again.
There's no need to spam SCEE and SCEA on release dates, hopefully you'll receive everything as it should be - the 2nd (USA), the 3rd (Europe) and the 5th (UK).
There was big misunderstanding as russian delay press-release mentioned "worldwide release postponed", but it seems they kind of considered CIS a whole "worldwide" region :D

Well I am sorry to hear it was delayed for you guys then. :(

Thanks for the clarification.

This might be a bit off topic- but I'm still trying to find a way to get the 787B stealth car in the U.S. Is it possible to just order the UK version on Amazon and have it shipped here to the U.S.? Or is this not possible? And is there even a U.S. supplier that you can pre-order this car from? Someone help me out here!

Sorry to hear that dude!, but at least your still keeping a smile on your face, brave sir! :)

But i am so relieved that it (hopefully) won't affect Europe and the US.

hahaha, Perkel that rally video is brilliant!

Freshseth - I don't think you can run a UK copy in your playstation! Maybe find someone to trade with? If you can't, then all the stealth cars will probably be available as DLC within a few months anyway.

Anyone going to the event in Belgium?

Looks like Zimmerd's friend is going today.

A friend I know, who has a car news site here in Belgium,
has been invited to a similar event to.
Next week, on Tuesday, he will be able to play GT5.
Although, he didn't know which version it will be.
Anthony Kumpen (professional race driver) will be there too,
Afterwards, there will be a luxury dinner at "Comme chez soi"

Trade with? How so? If there is a way to do this I want in. I thought PS3 games were region free so you could play a game from overseas? I guess not.

I just wanna get the 787B stealth here in the U.S. :indiff:

Thanks for the detailed answer. It makes sense. 👍

SCEE has no offices in Russia

Did I say SCEE has an office in Russia? :odd:

Just pre-ordered SE of GT5 in the U.K, where I will be when it releases. Are the copies in the U.K playable in Australia?

Cant't wait for those stealth cars! And y'know, the rest of the game.

Well, I hear that some games are region-locked these days. I don't know much about this, but from some research it looks like you will probably be able to play it anyway. Here's a shot of the back of a GT5 box with region 2 symbol:

Whether this makes any difference, I don't know...

edit. yeah that's Prologue - what do I know!?

PS3 games are not region locked so it should work. Any possible DLC may be region locked though.

Edit: After seeing that pack shot of Prologue, I feel some doubt. However, I have never heard about any region locks for PS3 games.

They are just the cars that are in the track day experience so have nothing to do with GT5 content.

Also...
There will not be an Ariel Atom in GT5 at launch.

And before anyone asks, I asked Kazunori myself.
OK 👍, I'd not see the Famine post. :dopey:

All good mate, I've been hoping Aerial would be in GT5 for ages so it's easy to be optimistic. It's a better incentive than the SLS AMG competition with the signature edition as there is actually some chance of me winning it ;)

Well, I hear that some games are region-locked these days.
I'm pretty sure that every PS3 game is region-free and is able to run on any PS3 version.
The only problem may occur if you use SD resolution - it's because NTSC PS3s output only 480i/480p, and PAL PS3s output only 576i/576p.
E.g. you can't run some US NTSC game on PAL PS3 in 480p (since PAL use only 576p in SD), but there will be no problems in HD 720p and higher.
The region code still exists on the case cover due to the formal reasons.

Why does Australia, no matter what, always get forgotten...

:D
I thought it's pretty obvious that Australia isn't in CIS and is pretty far away from Russia :)
But anyways, sorry mate, my bad ;)

All good I wasn't mad at you or anything. It's just I've noticed we always get left out of various things like we don't exist, and your dates went 2nd 3rd (4th for Oz) 5th :grumpy:
