This delay is the marketing hype GT5 needed for HUGE amounts of free publicity...

They are teasing us with something we would kill to have.

this is the true face of capitalism, we complain about it, but we will buy the game.:guilty:

A tad Melodramatic?

The only reason I'm annoyed is that they already gave a release date, and they changed it so close to when it was due to be out. I mean, unless it was a very unpredictable glitch which just suddenly popped up, why couldn't they have realized earlier that they weren't going to make the date? Obviously they didn't want to delay if they didn't have to, and they really want to get it out, but...

I change my mind. I completely understand how this happened and I think PD has done the only thing they could have under these unfortunate circumstances. The fact that they are probably fixing some major bug before release reflects better on me than sticking to the release date despite those issues. As much as I was looking forward to Nov. 2, it's these kind of circumstances that really show what a company is about. I'm perfectly satisfied to wait (hopefully about a month) for a properly completed game that I can play for years without being frustrated by annoying glitches.

Not to turn this into a classic debate, but I stopped playing Forza because I was sick of the glitches that they just would not fix. At least I won't have to worry about that for GT5. (Please don't start a debate with this. I'm not saying Forza is a bad game but I have problems with it.)

Well today has certainly been eventful. Now i, and we can only hope GT5 is released before Christmas, if it's pushed back to 2011, then this is just a repeat of last year :(
I still have faith in PD and Sony, i think there must've been a good reason for this delay, so i'm not that angry. I'm sure Kaz is just as annoyed as we are and he will do all he can to get this game out for us :)

Oh well, time to hit the hay. Goodnight :)

You still have faith after they have bent us over numerous times? They have lost my faith and are close to loosing my respect with their lack of management and professionalism. The least they could do is give their faithful fans who have been waiting for 6 years an explanation, but as usual, we are left in the dark. It is pretty obvious to me that they do not give a fu** about their consumers as long as they know they will still be getting their money.

That's still no excuse. For a game that has previously been delayed 2 times(without giving us an explanation might I add) they should have started the QA phase well ahead of the time before the game was scheduled to go gold in order to avoid any delays by difficult bugs. This is a prime example of poor management.

I heard somewhere that this car caused the GT5 release date to by put back a few days because Red Bull needed to alter the car's specification. Apparently it should break F1 lap records on all F1 circuits featured in the game, should be interesting.

Not likely. A spec update would have been easier to patch in compared to rearranging entire global launch planning.

I actually agree that they don't really have an excuse. I still think that this was a better choice than releasing it as is, but clearly there were management issues. Just think though, how long did GT4 last? I'm still playing it to be honest. This delay just gives me time to get to 100% before I get sucked up into a completely different game.

Anyone who thinks they have to spend the wait just thinking about how awesome GT5 is going to be, try thinking about how awesome GT4 (or GT3 if you liked that, or any GT game really) is by playing it again. Take some more photomode shots, get 100%, all gold licenses, max a-spec points. Do something. PD always give us plenty to do in every game, and there's no reason not to use it to our advantage when waiting for the next.

You haven't been waiting 6 years. Most of you have been playing GT4 for most of that time, and the waiting only came once we knew GT5 was coming soon. Take advantage of the games they give you before you start getting sassy about new ones.

Well said, I agree. Going to keep myself busy with GT3, GT4, and Prolouge until it's finally out. 👍

Good one im uploading pictures of the voucher.

It's been around for a while...and it's what is called a SCAM. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. 60% of the stuff you see or read on the internet is completely false. 30% is born and the remaining 10% is factual.

I just realized something: all Sony has confirmed is that the release date is NOT the 2nd and that they'd know the new date sometime before the end of the month. This tells me two things:

1. The game really IS pretty close to being finished.
2. The new release date could be any date at this point.

Sony could come back tomorrow and say that the game is gold and the release date is the 3rd or the 9th. They WANT it to come out BEFORE Christmas and everyone at Sony is really shook up about this delay. But it doesn't seem like it's that big of an issue. Something minor that needs to be fixed and then it'll go gold. Like everything about the game but this one thing is fine.

I wouldn't worry too much. And if it's by the end of the month when a release date is announced it'll probably be the 9th of November or later. I would assume they'd avoid the 16th as you have everything else coming out then. But if it does come out in December, I would say it'll be as close to the 1st as possible.

Or they crammed everything in the game only to find out that it's below their standard. PREMIUM CARS/ STANDARD CARS, PREMIUM/STANDARD TRACKS, DYNAMIC WEATHER not on all tracks. etc. I have a bad feeling that they merged both GTHD(was scraped) and GT5 hence standard/premium cars. From the demos I've seen some things looks unfinished.

"Bernie, you can't believe everything you read on the Internet. Otherwise I would be a Nigerian millionaire by now." Kevin Butler, ftw!

Demos are supposed to be unfinished W.I.P.

Just asked a SCENZ employee who works in the NZ Playstation head office what the reason for the delay was

"due to final optimisation of the game."

Take it or leave it.

When I checked the official GT site, all the country selectors were selectable except the UK. Now it is selectable and still states a november 3rd release while the other sites i checked have been updated with the delay notice in news the section?

Unsupported third party hearsay? I'll opt for leave it.

Give me credible references and I'll happily change my mind.

"holiday season" is dec 1st through Jan 7th or something so no, it can't be any date.
