I honestly doubt that GT5 will be downloaded like hotcakes on the internet even if it's pirated. If GT5 does take up 100% of the blu-ray as PD claims, then that's about 50gb. That's alot of bandwidth taken up. Here in Canada, the average user probably has monthly bandwidth cap of 60gb. Over that there's overusage fees. Obviously people can opt for higher bandwidth caps, but 50gb is alot to download. Downloading will probably take a good day or two even if you have a killer connection.

Next, when you consider data transfer, it's even more pain in the arse. You can't throw 50gb of data in any USB stick, and it takes forever to transfer 50gb from computer to flash memory to PS3 if you're still using USB 2.0. That's another day or two already. Though Hard drive space isn't really an issue as people have easy access to 500gb drives easily.

If the above post is true, then all these things won't matter as only firmware 3.41 is hackable. Even if it's playable, you would lose out all online functionality such as online racing, leader boards, real time, weather forecasts, and spec updates that fix bugs and glitches and hopefully bring new content.

I'm not quite surely why you quoted me, especially as you reply has nothing to do with it.

On top of that, do a little research. Thier are plenty of files being downloaded over 50Gb, so its obviously not an issue.

Lots of people have access to unlimited data plans, I doubt Canada would even make up 5% of downloaders.

Second, plenty of people are burning Blu-ray disks, flash memory drives can be bought in massive sizes, people could use external hard drives and if they really wanted they could data transfer via ethernet/wireless.

And back to my original point, plenty of people will be playing GT5 purely offline. This may seem strange to many younger gamers, but offline racing and splitscreen racing can be far more fun than playing strangers online.

As to why he removed it? The guy doesn't work at Sony but has some contacts with them. My guess is that those contacts weren't too happy about him releasing the info to everyone on the net.

Poor guy. Rotten bit of luck to be caught in that type of situation and in this economy.

Most of the time removing a post gives it more credibility :L

A bit like releasing state documents with large portions blacked out. :)

If the pirate excuse is valid. Why didn't they just say so.
I could fully justify that.

It's been almost 2 months since the jailbreak and since Sony have known, surely they could have planned ahead?

If Medal of Honor can be delivered on time, a good few weeks before GT5, built with 3.50SDK, I'm not so sure how valid an excuse it is.

Unless of course, Sony are going to be releasing an even newer firmware/SDK (3.60) and want GT5 to be ready for that.

Because they don't want to draw attention to piracy.

Like the Grand Theft Childhood author mentioning that most gamers didn't know about the...hmm... AUP. Ummmm...interaction with ladies of the night in GTA, until the news reported so heavily on it.

For most of GT series fans there will be no point in downloading the game, i would buy it in any case, this game is worth each cent you pay for it. People just want it released so they can play it, who gives a 🤬 about hacked PS3 when people spent hundreds of USD/EUR just to be prepared for GT5 release. So there is no point in this... at least for me.

I bought every GT game, despite chips/hacks and such...

I will do the same with GT5 even if one day I hack the PS3, or even if I had already.

And a new hack will come along, and people that do not want to, and that will not BUY the game anyway, WILL wait for it.

So ultimately only the paying gamers, that just want the game already, are getting hurt.

Realy, how many PS3 hacked owners will buy GT5 and _because_ of this loose the hack? They are just laughing their buts off about all of this... And waiting for the next trick.

I've read Kaz's comments and understand how one could assume from them that the game has gone gold (which it had) but is there a possibility that Kaz may use the fact that a delay has been announced without a new release date to create a new gold master and therefore, we might not just be waiting for a production slot?

ilonioum,
the swear filter is in place for a good reason. It's not there for you to bypass.

sorry chief, never had an intention to bypass anything, just dotted it in case if you have no filters (i'm new here), didn't mean to insult anyone and my apologiez if i did.

Mhh think what you wan´t, there is no other reason than the christmas money... There is 100% sure no other reason for me...
I am curious if you considered the fact that November 2nd and Christmas are the same fiscal quarter and so that move will mean nothing to fiscal earnings.

Unless you think angering and confusing consumers will somehow raise sales by a few million more units.

It'll probably slip to April next year to boost quarter 1. They got move out this quarter to make some money.
Make sense to release a big title in a slow period.

I wonder what the excuse will be next. The Blu-Ray manufacturing plant burned down, the gold copy got destroyed, the shipping trucks spontaneously combusted. It's funny how this 3.50 firmware mandate that is on the disk will be easily bypassed by hackers within a few weeks. This is done on 1st party Wii games all the time. In the end, the only people who suffer from anti-pirate measures are honest gamers and not hackers. Ironic isn't it?

So what now, is it the piracy problem and the game isn't gold yet , or they miss the window for the buring factory(and the game gone gold)?

I still blame Ben Collins. The sooner people just accept that and it becomes the most widely accepted reasoning the happier everyone will be.

Don't blame it on the sunshine.
Don't blame it on the moonlight.
Don't blame it on the good times.
Blame it on the Ben. ;)

I don't buy the, they missed the blue ray processing theory.

Think about it.

You don't just book up a company and say " hey, you ok to knock off 7 million blue rays for me". With out either laying out cash upfront or paying some cost to their lost revenue by hanging around not making blue rays for five days.

If I book a holiday and I don't turn up, it's my loss I don't expect my money back.

If it is true then Sony have lost some revenue on this cockup.

Have a guess who will pay for it. That's right us the consumer.
Nice one Kaz.

I think this is just like those stupid warnings on DVDs, those anti-piracy messages that you can't ffw or skip...

It ONLY hinders those that buy, or in this case want to buy it.

No, Ben Collins hacked the PS3.

FACT.

I just heard from an inside source that PD actually where going to include both the black and White stig. When Ben found out he starting hacking the PS3 and has been holding Sony to ransom ever since. Unfortunately they refused to listen and he has now set about burning down all Sony's manufacturing plants, all whilst locking Kaz in a Russian toilet.
