I think they are meant to represent tyre temperature (those that are in the position of the tyres), and the outer ones are meant to represent tyre wear.

Also, Kaz , like me is a massive car fan, so B spec is great to look at the cars in action, especially with GT5s amazing graphics. If you don't like B spec, don't use it!!

So what happened to this menu? I don't see it in the video...
I have a theory that the Gamestop videos are of a really old build... notice also there is no rain and night time icon, even though it's on the same theme. And the allowed time of day is different as well.

Maybe polyphony developed another demo and gave it to gamestop...

Totally understand.

I too would benefit from the pause & save option, but...

It does take the pressure away from the race, which will make the 'win' seem less satisfying..

At least with the pause-only option, it makes GT feel much more like a living beast - will my endurance race still be there when I get back???

Kinda adds to the thrill. but admittedly horrible for the environment!

I would like to go a step further and not only like to see the possability to save during endurance races but also would like to go on and race some short events when friend are visiting and after they are gone continue with my saved enduro. So when you have saved you can continue with everything the game has to offer in GT life and arcade. Only execption would be to save one endurance race at a time. This because of my normal life where I sometimes only have time to play GT for 2 or 3 hours a week. If saving is not in enduros will be a no go again and that would be a shame.

Unless theres a power cut or someone turns it off ! then you will wish there was a save so you could just go back a couple of laps to the last pit stop, rather than re-sit 20 hrs of racing again I would definitely spit the dummy out if that happened.. Bring on the save feature.

They could add Saving for 1 time only (you load and save file is deleted) and make it limited

24x per race (for example)

that way they would remove the ability to cheat (load crash load ... and so on)

The menus are so pwetty. That's years worth of polish right there.

I had both when I did GT4's 24hr races - working full time, playing hockey every Saturday, family engagements on a Sunday. I completed them with the pause button.

On the PS3, that sounds like a surefire way to get a YLOD :)

It's unreasonable to expect anyone to do that, let alone sit the whole 24 hours. There's gonna be content unlocked by winning those races that would otherwise be inaccessible to 99% of players. Everyone wins with a save option.

You should only be allowed save every 3 - 4 hours. That way it keeps the player playing for a proper amount of time and also eliminates the 'reload after crashing scenario'. Also it should only be possible to save during a pitstop, although I can't see it doing it any other way.

That'd be a terrifying example. One time load? So, I load up my race that was saved at 12 hours in, save file is deleted... and then I get a power failure.

:ouch:

I hope a game doesn't deem when a "proper" time is for me.

I would seriously hope PD is including some sort of save feature to handle 24 hour races. Asking your customers to either B-spec it or leave the system running for who knows how long due to paused games between stints is poor form. Unless Sony is hoping for a few more PS3 sales when units start dying out... conspiracy!

Why not just let each player decide for themselves when to save the game during a 24Hour event, if you only want to save after 3-4 hours then that would be your choice surely?
Why make it mandatory to play a certain amount of time? You know even when I would like to play hours and hours on end, sometimes my doorbell rings and people come by to visit unexpectedly ( weird I know ).
Maybe I'm strange but I'd like the option to save the game then and turn off my buzzing PS3 to concentrate on being a good host or at least keep my electricity bill from going up unnecessary.

A save feature has been needed in the GT series for a very long time, not everyone has the time to spend 24hours playing a game and not everyone has friends who are willing to put in "shifts" for the race to be completed.

I think there should be a unlimited amount of saves for a endurance race, yes its not realistic but neither is driving a car on a TV screen realistic either. After all these endurance races would be on GT mode so what one person does in GT mode is up to them, if they crash on the last lap of a 24 hour endurance race and then restart the game so be it, it isn't going to make them less of a person for doing so. I think everyone should be allowed to experience all the unlockable cars and i for one haven't done so in previous GT series because of the lack of a save feature in the endurance races.

I hope we have a save feature as I suffer from a form of low blood pressure which means I cannot play a console for more than 1 hr otherwise I get bad head aches and become more prone to fainting.

I can handle a couple of hours or so, non-stop racing, but 24? thats just silly.

It's also unrealistic. Any 24hr race these days, or any endurance event for that matter, will have 2 or 3 drivers that share the car for that race.

I'd welcome the ability to save the game during an endurance race. I missed out a large chunk of GT4 just because i wasn't willing to leave my PS2 on for what would have ended up being a period of 10-14 days straight for any of the 24hr races.

I'd also like it to let you save the race and then compete in other events and not just make you finish the endurance race before you can do anything else.

It would make sense to only let you save during a pit stop though.

This is what I think about saving endurance races: treat each save as a driver change.

Let me explain. In a real race, each time there's a driver change, there's also a time loss, which forces drivers to maximize their stint's length. So in the same way, you could give unlimited saves in a 24 hr race, but you would have to pit and lose whatever time it usually takes in a real race to change drivers (1 or 2 minutes I believe?).

And to those who think it's unrealistic to save, it's also unrealistic to do the full 24 hr race alone, as it's against the rules.

As much as I would like to have 24 Hours online real driver ( read player ) changes sharing the same car in real time I just thought of another online sharing possibility perhaps.
Feel free to pose objections if this might be pure nonsense and impossible to implement but how about transferring a saved game ( part of the 24 Hours race you completed ) online to another player ( PSN-buddy ) to have his or her stint not immediately after necessarily but when they have the time to do it and then save it and send it back again or to a third party, etc.?

Once you have the game in your hands, you will understand why...
It's actually a step up from Prologue, even if you are used to it,
GT5 is a different, much like GT5 Time Trial, if you are over confident with your speed in corners, if you carry too much speed going into curves... you will understeer and you will eventually skid or crash or both...

Easy car game from the Past have gotten us used to pushing / smashing the accelerator button, and even in corner, they allowed you to hold it down and still make it possible...
GT5 is a much real-er deal... you will need at least one session to get used to it... if you haven't tried the demo in the store, i suggest you check it out now... and get yourself acquainted before the games comes out.

At least it will save you the shame of crashing in the comfort of your home.
If you crash in the store, you can at least blame it on the crappy controller
or what not... ;)

BUt i will bet that most people around here, Will crash the first time trying GT5. ;) Dont be over confident, start modest 👍

PS: by the way, i tried the Demo again this past weekend, and it's so much fun, the 458 Italia on the Nurb is heaven... the engine noise, however realistic or not, i just love it, i cant wait to hear in on my home theater surround sound :P

Racing on the basis that you trust your PSN partner.
That's a possibility and actually sounds pretty cool. I wouldn't mind it. 👍

In GT4, you can do a driver change to B-Spec. Once there the time simulation rate can be accelerated to about 3 times. I'll be happy with the ability of doing it to 10 simulated minutes for every real minute.

Just like it is in real life, matchmaking can happen on a site like this I guess, and yes trusting the ability and dedication of your PSN-partner plays a large role.
Would be a shame to transfer a perfectly driven stint which took you to first place only to be send back a save where you find you're the last on the grid with a fully damaged car 50 laps behind.
Maybe making a second copy of that save beforehand might be an option.;)

Mhh I really can´t see the same things again and again... The SLS on the Nordschleife, the F458 on Tokyo bla bla bla... Really bored of the same demo of GT5... I start to "hate" those tracks and cars, really I can´t see them anymore... I wonder if I would play them in the full game...
