Gran Turismo 5 coming Spring 2009? source

AutoGaming.net
For those who read UK’s Car Magazine, there was an article about the Citroen GT concept car, and it stated that this car is going to be in Gran Turismo 5 this coming spring. Even though these magazines and web sites do not provide 100% accurate information, there is still the possibility that it may be true. Also, with the fact that GT’s creator, Kazunori Yamauci, made the comment in an interview with the winner of the GT5 Prologue Middle East Challenge that the game may most likely be out earlier than expected, there is some hope that this might be true. However this is a rumor so don’t kill us if we are wrong.

GT5P question, quickly...

For those who have a G25/DFP, and use 900 degree mode, how accurate is the cockpit steering wheel to the real wheel? Does the onscreen wheel move exactly with the real life wheel, or does it only move, like, 200 degrees regardless of whether you have 900 degree mode or not?

It'd be confusing to have a 200 degree wheel on screen while you're steering a 900 degree wheel... :ill:

Originally in pre GT5P videos from game shows the onscreen wheel would match and they drivers hands would go hand over if needed to, though it appeared they didn't model it quite well enough and looked awkward.

Since GT5P release it has not been in the game and they have limited wheel visual movement to 180 degrees (200 or whatever), I remember KY saying in a interview quite sometime ago it is very difficult to model the hands 'working' the wheel and potentially shifting via shifter or paddles the same time, but he said they are 'working on it'.

So No the wheel does not fully follow the 900 degree movement, it goes a little slower and at the 90 degrees left or right it stops. I have completely forgotten about it until you just brought it up (I always use cockpit view) but I dont really notice as I am watching whats going on like traffic, apex's etc when driving.

I hope there will be a special edition gt5 with maybe a model car and keyring and stuff, that would be awesome.

Yes! Capital idea, old bean.

It would probably be the Nissan Skyline pace car from GT4, or whatever the GT5 equivalent is... or maybe it would be a selection of GT5's most prominent cars, such as the Nissan GTR, Ferrari F2007, new Evo, cars like that.

As for keyrings, a brown leather fob with a golden GT logo would be absolutely fantastic! 👍

Scalextric sets of Original Courses would be great, too. I'd love nothing more than to own a scaled down slot car version of Trial Mountain, or the High Speed Ring, or Grand Valley Speedway :D

AutoArt has already made 1:18 scale models of the Nissan Skyline GT4 Pace Car and the Ford GT LM Race Car Spec I and II fro GT4 and the Ford GT LM Test car from GT5P. Each of these cost about $100 each, but it's still cool.

I got thinking about the online play recently... wouldn't it be cool if GTP held an online World Championship? There would be some sort of qualifying system, maybe some small championships from which the best drivers are chosen.

I guess it'd be up to GTP to decide what kind of cars the championship uses... I would be for either road cars, or the non-LMP Le Mans cars - for instance, the Ford GT40, Chaparral 2D, Ford GT Gulf, the white Ford GT from the GT4 intro... Viper Team Oreca... that kind of non-LMP car.

Also, there could be an online governing body of GTP board members, that decides the races and regulations... just like the FIA, but for GT5 online racing.

Races would be real-world length - around 50-70 laps, depending on track length, making tire choice and pit stops essential. The replays could also be saved and uploaded to GTP, and maybe there could be an online "spectator" mode, where anybody can sign in and watch the race.

I think it'd just be thrilling to race in a prestigious online championship, with fifteen other human drivers, to find the best driver on GTP.

can't believe still anyone's hoping of any good in online-mode. Now, that it's been out for that long and GTP still fooling around with same childish server settings. Never seen cars competitions below let's say 400 HP. For me it's nothing more than that NFS toy. Crashes all over because of its slipstream-joke, total advantage of 4WDs cause of "Sim-Physics", 5 laps at most, anyone knows a race series where it's over after 5 laps?.., and so on.

Scotty , please beam me up

@ rafnix

actually you have to compare it with the best motoring battle's they do on tsukuba and fuji, those are 5 laps races, this is racing but not a competition

i think gran turismo5 should have body kits. not like NEED FOR SPEED , but like in Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo2 because thats what made Gran Turismo very exciting and fun. and DAMAGE on all cars not just racing cars. :grumpy::grumpy:

some variety of aero upgrades would be nice in consideration that if we are racing online, every damn car would be exactly alike which is quite annoying imo. but they should be limited to the car types, for instance a honda nsx would not share the same body kits as a bmw m3. they should have real licensed brands for different car manufacturers. im sure those brands would license gt5p to do that.

I'm worried about the GT series. Sounds like PD definitely put too much on their plate this go-round (no thanks to Sony.) It's known that each game in the series has cost exponentially more time and money to make than the last but GT5 seems to have gone to infinity... you wonder about GT6. It may not even be on PS3, and I had a hard enough time buying PS3 just for one and 1/10th games (GT5, GT5:P)

I know GT5 will fulfill my expectations at the very least, and online play will be decent. But hell I might drop dead before it hits shelves, and that would seriously taint my gameplay experience.

When you say "Polyphony Digital," every avid gamer immediately thinks "Gran Turismo." And of course, that association will only strengthen when Gran Turismo 5 launches (hopefully, at the end of this year).

However, prepare yourselves for a very large and intriguing bit of news: during end-of-year interviews and according to PS3Center.net, GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi spoke about the future of his company, and obviously, that included GT5. First up, he said that while 2009 was still the target time frame for the launch, "it may not make it," although not due to any "lack of effort." So that's kind of a downer but that's hardly the biggest news because Yamauchi also said that although Polyphony exclusively handles car games, they do want to try their hand at "a new, distinctly different game." What this could be, we haven't the foggiest idea, but now we're very excited to learn more about it. Yamauchi is one of those guys who can excel at just about any game project, even if he hasn't been exceedingly diverse. Like Hideo Kojima, this guy is a perfectionist, so anything he attempts should be worthy of our attention. Oh yeah, and what if his next game is also a PlayStation 3 exclusive...? Hmm...

Anyway, we will now be anxiously awaiting Yamauchi's decision, and if he really does decide to head in an entirely new direction after GT5, we'll be on pins and needles in anticipation of the announcement. That's for damn sure.

That scares me if GT5 will be the last of it's series :(

visible aero kits and visble mods, carbon fibre hood / boot, back wing(gt4 already had this feature :)) and a painting editer to make our team colours etc. thats all i want.

I dont mind if they just expand on the aero kits that were in GT4, I dont really care to have every car able to have a wide-body kit installed!

But if I want to put a boot lip on my car and not a great big wing that could double as a ironing board than so be it! I am also assuming that the invisible splitter from GT4 will be visible in GT5 (well at least I dearly hope so).

Cheers
