It's 14 billion anyhow.
I think he is talking in Earth's history terms. Not the universe. Either way, you are both correct.
So, you want a co-op online career mode? Or just to be able to have all career mode races online?
I hope you see the difference in the genres between racing games and something action/adventure oriented and why no racing game, to my knowledge, has attempted that yet.
See, RE5 has you, as a player, working alongside a friendly character which is controlled by AI when in single player. A co-op campaign just gives your friend control of that friendly character. You still fight against AI controlled Non-playable characters (NPC). The experience between co-op and single player is minimal in gameplay, other than your friend is able to respond to what you want/need differently.
A racing game has no friendly character controlled by the AI. In essence an online career would be you vs other people. That means that my experience in career mode would be different from your, as would everyone else's experience. There is no set skill limit that must be overcome to progress.
Now, if they did allow you and a friend to create a team and the two of you raced against the AI (just like the two of you fought AI-controlled NPC zombie/infected in RE5) and as long as one of you came in first it counted as progression for both of you.
The only way they could tie a single player career mode to online without risking an imbalance that prevents certain people from being able to continue would be what has already been in Prologue: Online winnings count toward your career mode winnings. If they removed the limitations of online access from being unlocked in offline (maybe had you level up to certain online events in some way, like based on lap times, rather than wins) it would have made it so that the offline career was pointless, for online loving players, because all it allowed you to do was unlock more offline races and win money for cars.
The question some need to ask in that concept is: Do you race the GT Simulation mode because you like accessing new races, or because you like earning money for cars? If it is just about money and cars then what I suggest above will be all that is necessary.
All that said, an online co-op career where you form a team would be fun. I would love to bump draft to the lead at Daytona, or block a challenger trying to come up on my team mate.
Whenever someone talks of Kool-Aid I always think of the book by Tom Wolfe, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
But man those curbs are pretty tall, tall enough not to want to ride them.
I don't recall GT's Nurb having curbs that high
You believe you're right just because some agree with you, & all the rest who say nay are wrong. I'm not surprised.I was trying to make that point earlier in a Forza thread. The real Ring has very aggressive rumble strips/curbs. Forza 2/3's are greatly diminished in comparison. Anyone who has been to the ring can see this. Yet they were not convinced, even after being to the Nurburgring themselves. Some people need glasses more than others, me thinks.
wow that video feels very intense and aggressive..
it would be cool if GT can do that same rooftop view and have the camera rumble along with the car. also that engine sounds crazy, like it's about to break any second, very raw.
We really need something. Pointless threads and pointless arguments. We need something good to enjoy.
I bet we'll just be in the dark until one more official GT5 trailer again at E3 and relive 2009 all over again
I was watching this today and thought dang, the Nurb we have seen looks just like it!

The curbs seem the same like those in GT4 to me. Maybe almost non existing suspension travel of the Radical gave you this feeling but I remember driving over them in cars like Formula GT or Mazda 787B was very scary and they unsettled me almost every time. Production cars don't do that, they are ready for such bumps.
I don't know if this interview was already posted.

It seems a mixture of past and new information ...
Eurogamer: Now that the Prologue is published, how will you build on it - directly towards the development of the full version of GT5, is more or less step?
Kazunori Yamauchi: There will be a second major update to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue before the full game is fully developed.
[RoadRunner] A second major update? We have SPEC III...
Eurogamer: So in this way is based in the final game, a part of the corridor, which continues forward?
Kazunori Yamauchi: We are not necessarily played in small parts. . But we had some minor things that were not færdggjort in GT5 Prologue, we would like to add along the road. These could be better community features buddy lists, and similar functions - and then we will also add a damage model for the game.
Kazunori Yamauchi: ... there will be added numerous features to online component. . We will add many of the necessary functions, such as being able to create its own motoring clubs inside the game, or to create his own racing team. . It's things like this, where users can actually interact with each other, as we continually want to add.
"Now that GT5P is published!" Is the present running with a 2 year delay*.
This is old stuff. There ain't going to be a Prologue update people. Wake up.
*actually that will explain a lot
Its Eurogamer, not the first time they make something ridiculous like that.I don't really know where the fun is in behaving like that.
I could think of a few ways to have some sort of leveling up kind of thing and rank limiting for public races that would work. It would be interesting to see if they could do something, but I do think comparing it to something like RE5 is a relatively poor comparison.Yeah, I see what you mean, online carrer mode would be kinda complicated, but I don't think it's impossible... maybe they could make it so that once you finished (won) a "mission" you can't do it again (online), so others get a chance to progress? Having teams would be cool too, of course.
However I would love to have a online career and to answer your question, yes I usually only play GT mode to get money/ cars, but that's mainly due to boring A.I., so that might change, they could have offline GT mode leaderboards for example, where you can try to improve in certain races as often you want maybe, then I sure would go and try that, too.
While using a DFP in GT4 I found the curbs to be quite scary, but didn't notice as much when using a controller. I haven't attempted, or been able to, give a similar comparison to other games.I was watching this today and thought dang, the Nurb we have seen looks just like it!
