I wouldn't understand that logic...

If i.e. I want to drive 2 laps in daylight it shouldnt get dark on these "time-tracks".

The only explanation which would make sense is that this race in the video was a special "event-race" / "license-test" or such which is unique ?

There should be an option to turn off day/night cycle on these tracks. I mean it's understandable why the game would speed up the time cycle when the total laps is set to 2. Most players would race one or two laps on Le Mans and call it a race. If PD made it to real-time as you suggested and needed 12 hours to see the day/night cycle switch, most players would barely get to see this awesome feature. Let's wait until we see more races with 10-20 laps, then come to a conclusion.

But for the Nürburgring there aren't different kinds of the track...

I hope that soon someone tells us this is adjustable ! Anything else wouldn't ... be ... good...

I think there is.

Nürburgring Nordschleife (Time)
Nürburgring GP/F
Nürburgring 24h (Time / Weather)
Nürburgring GP/D
Nürburgring typeV

I assume you want to drive the 24h one without time or weather changes. Maybe type V is the one your after. I'm not sure.

That just made me think... wouldn't it be awesome if it automatically chose the actual time based on your PS3's clock? Man, I hope there's an option for that.

No there is only one type of Nordschleife.

I like to do races which last about i.e. 10 laps on the Nordschleife which take about 1,5 h or (less) but dont want it to get dark within that timespan.

For me this feature isn't about driving into the night. It has it's advantages in the growing shadows on the track and the slow movements of the sun.

Track getting darker, shadows longer..

If I want to have night races.. I'd use a track especially for this...

I'd expect to set the time of day prior to each race and then race in REALTIME anything else would .... not....be... good.

That would be good, I'd rather be able to tell it to automatically match the clock than set the time manually, and I'm not really into long races so if it didn't keep changing in real time I wouldn't notice anyway :)

Something awesome I just noticed, don't know if anyone else has pointed it out... smoke/water spray changes colour as the sun goes down. I've just been watching a replay and it's suddenly turned to a nice shade of orange.

I had saw that as well and thought it was his screen doing that. I'm not crazy.:dopey:

then just pick the track and choose 10 laps. the normal one without time and weather.

The pics posted on the News front page... I reckon that the Standard cars look pretty good.

However, if you look at some of the night shots, they look completely awful. The front view of the CLK GTR looks like a GT4 shot to me. The lighting is what makes them look good during daylight ingame, but at night that benefit is lost and all you get is the raw GT4 models.

PD have a near impossible task if they are even considering making all cars premium for GT6 or even GT7. Which really, should be one of their priorites (Though I think the main priority should be more tracks). Good luck PD.

I'm so excited cuz i pre ordered gt5 today and its coming this week!!! My psn is WSTITAN24 if anyone wants to play any gt5 in the future SO FRICKEN EXCITED!!!!!! lol See you on the track.

I don't think they can change how long it takes to model a car, six months per premium isn't it? The only way is to throw more talented people at it and have costs of £100m. They way I see it is their mission is ongoing and we just happen to have access to a point in time on that mission. If they were to throw more people at it the game would probably be priced out of the main market.

GT6 will have even more premium cars involved and then after that we'll have the PS4 and the mission objectives may well shift again. What you can be assured of is that whatever you get WILL BE the best available product at that moment given the constraints of time, resources and cost. That's modern life though, we're all greedy and want it all now.

We're too advanced and will be replaced by robots someday, maybe 200-300 years from now, and those robots will eventually destroy humanity. That's my theory anyway.

That would make a great film. Hang on.

Alternatively we'll be too lazy too drive ourselves and get the computer to do it for us. Hang on.

True, unfortunately.

Yep, I'm with you on this one, the more tracks the merrier. Tracks create tons of possibilities and extend the overall playtime of the game, for instance that countryside theme for the course maker, it will keep me busy for months.

And on that note, I really hope PD drops this photo and measurement modelling technique for the tracks, advanced laser scanning could ( theoretically ) produce the same results without bringing major issues on scale, bumpiness and elevation changes.

On the same note, the laser technique used to scan cars should also be improved for the next games, I'm sure they're improving the technique to keep the current level of detail and add more cars at each new edition. Outsourcing would be another way to go, though.

Personally, I'd be willing to pay more than $60 for GT6 in order to get more content. It's basically the only game I play, and it lasts for years, so I could certainly pay more like $100, just for the game.

That would allow them to hire more staff to do more modeling. I'd love more tracks. Don't care as much about cars, since there's just a ridiculous amount already. If they just add another 300 or so late model premium cars, plus maybe 50 iconic old cars in premium version, I'd be happy with that for cars.

If they added maybe 10 more tracks from what we currently have, that would be perfect for me. Sebring, Road America, Spa, Monaco, Mosport, Isle of Man, Brands Hatch, Pike's Peak, Mid Ohio, and Sears Point. Those plus the current track list and I'd want for nothing.

Maybe Kaz will become the new NFS
Coming March 2011 GT6 with 10 extra tracks/ 100+Premium cars
Coming November 2011 GT7 10 Premium Tracks/ 100+ more Premium cars
Selling two game a year is better than selling DLC.

just saw Butler commercial for GT5 at 10:36PM EST on Comedy Central HD during South Park. Woohoo! Ahhh it's so close now!

Did any one else besides myself noticed the Mazda Concept LMP1 car? We also have a pace car for NASCAR I think, it's the Nissan R34 Skyline Pace Car.

Yea i know.Any of you guys ever go to the Kart track up in Mooresville,Nc?
http://www.meetatthepit.com/ I have been once and it was a lot of fun.Anyone know if there are any Karting tracks in Charlotte area?Charlotte is way closer than Mooresville to me.

No. I'm up here in Winston and there's a karting place in Greensboro. I've haven't gone yet though.

No. And that would be amazing.

Please tell me this isnt true:

It gets dark within 9 minutes ?

That video is unreal, easily one of the best GT5 vids I've seen yet. Thinking back to GT4 it's hard to believe we're looking at Lambo, Ferrari, SLS, McLaren (among others) in that detail as day turns to night on Le Sarthe. Just beautiful.

The darkness in 9 minutes is just accelerated time change, I think it's being found in the arcade mode. There's probably an arcade option to transition to darkness over whatever length of race you're doing?
