I see like 10 GT5 commercials a night on comedy central.

IMO no. For someone like me who works till midnight 5 nights a week, I DVR the shows I miss and watch later. I havent seen a single commercial or mention of the game at all. Thats after spending a weekend watching football, etc. The only commercial I have seen is the kevin butler commercial on youtube. Nothing on TV.

Because in Australia you can show a receipt to the guys which gives them permission to sell the game early.

It kind of worked too, he e mailed the head office and he said it's likely I'll get the game tomorrow - 1 day early.

FYI Torontonians / GTA

I went to my local gamestop tonight to check on the pre-order status, collectors edition is delayed until Thursday at my store due to the shipment not making it on time. The regular edition is already there.

they haven't aired the commercial enough, but it is pretty brilliant (as far as commercials go), so I'd say they failed at marketing the game, but the actual commercial is great, it'd convince me to go check out the game (if I weren't going to already)

I was just over at gamespot and I'm not sure why, but it looks like the video of them playing it looks a lot worse than all the stuff I've seen here. Did anyone else see this? there were pop ins and very jaggie edges on the shadows. Is the review copy not the same as the final?

I like when that dude steals the merc off the trailer and laughs as he takes off lol... One of the highpoints of the commercial is the "realistic damage", I want to see more of that.

So you missed the football game on sunday then? From what I hear, that was when they were airing it. Also, since when has GT really had aggressive promotion on TV? Don't really recall any of them having so much hype so close to release.

GT4s physics were weird, Cars wouldn't turn, the E-brake kills the engine and drifting was impossable compared to GT1, In GT1 you take the Viper GTS-R out and give it gas through a corner and slide the whole way no problem, in GT4 you just spin out -_- I hope they fixed some of these problems.

Yeah. What I meant was, the good gt feelings are back. The physics are much better. You actually feel the car much more precise. You'll see/feel when you get it. You won't be disappointed!

Nope. The DFGT, I got a week ago. Feels awesome! Will pick up the pad only for drifting.

I was lucky and got the game yesterday and yes the shadows was the first thing I noticed when i jumped in a car. very jaggie as you mentioned.

Just noticed on the U.S. version of the GT site the countdown says 6 and a bit hours till release........wont that make it a 23rd release 24th here in Australia ?!?

I was reading some comments about Gran-Turismo site that is down...it is not but they are making modifications and the day 25 November all the info about GT5 Prologue (times laps, etc) will be gone and GT TV (the old stuff)too...so i could imagine that after this 25 the game will run with online features.

You can't judge frame rate and shadow definition by looking at compressed video over the internet. The video runs at a different frame rate, causing stuttering, and compression artifacts can cause blockiness, particularly in lower contrast areas like shadow.

I watched the whole of that sad dudes arcade race around London, a highly complicated city track, and saw absolutely no evidence of pop-in.

They certainly were containing their enthusiasm though. They looked like they might nod off at any second

Yeah this is just a known issue with the PS3's GPU. It is in fact weaker than the 360s, with half as much RAM available. Which explains why ive yet to see any 360 game with shadows like this, but ive seen multiple PS3 games that have it, with DMC4 being the absolute worst, while the 360 version of that game has nice shadows. Even MGS4 has them at times, but not all the time for some reason.

I remember seeing an interview with the Uncharted 2 team, it might be from the bonus vids that came with the game, and they talked about taking more advantage of the cell processor than most other dev's. Maybe that's how they were able to get nice looking shadows in that game.

Of course that doesnt have as many calculations going on, but the truth is Forza 3 has a lot of stuff going on under the hood, and has nice shadows.

Maybe its possible this can be improved through a patch, or its just one of those things we have to live with. Blame Sony, not Polyphony. I have no clue why the PS3s GPU only has 256mb of ram while the 360s has 512.

Kaz will be in Madrid tomorrow (23 November) ...or today cause here are 4:17 in the evening morning...or wathever , in a Game store and sell the game (not him of course haha) to everyone who goes after 20:00 pm and at 21:00 Kaz will sign copies from GT5.👍 And also GT5 normal edition and collectors will cost the same as the first one. (10€ discount)...
I´m in Barcelona and my Signature Edition is coming this Wednesday so...

Umm FYI guys... All of the Toys R Us in southern Ontario already have their shipments (since Thursday, November 18). I'm pretty sure Wal-mart got them too.

Just go elsewhere and refund your EB games pre-order if you have one. Unless you pre-ordered the CE. I know Toys R Us does not have them, and will not be carrying them (referring to the CE).

PS. Don't quote me 100% on the Toys R Us CE thing. There could always be surprise shipments no one knows about.

Thanks for the info. I havn't played the ps3 much since buying it 8 months ago ( just for gt5) i mainly use a pc for gaming. But i can honestly say that after no more than 2 laps i havn't noticed it since. The game just blows you away.

There is a picture showing how to setup the G25 but the G27 is almost the same...someone show me how to put a picture here and you´ll have it. i can´t remember where did i found it

If you're after a midnight release and can't find one, just go to K-Mart. They're 24 hrs and can sell games from 12:30am on the release day.

From the Q&A forum, the 6 button function just like Prologue. That means you still have to map the G25/27 through the DFGT map. No official support for the wheel at all, it will function perfectly of course.
