If the Christmas gift car action turns out to be true, any idea what will happen if I'm not at home (and next to the PS3) during Christmas? That jag would look nice in my garage after all :)

there is really rubberband AI. i did the test. not so bad as in NFS Shift. but there really is rubberband! that lotus problaly is a better car compared to the other AI.
Yep, the old rubber band is back.

Like a rubber ball I'll keep bouncing back to you., bouncy, bouncy...... bouncy bouncy.

Well it isn't helping my B-spec trucks at Daytona, that's for sure.
That rubberband must be attached to lap 1, because he just keeps backing up and finishing around 11th every race.

Honestly I don't realise the RB effect, but I have not paid attention to it.
I know you can limit it (boost) online, but there is no setting for other races in A-spec or B-spec.
No one I race with would have the boost on so online races are not applicable as far as I'm concerned.

Even at the 60 lap Grand Valley race I was setting consistant laps in the beginning and the end of the race, though at the end I was 2 laps ahead of a lot of cars.
I did not look at AI times, so it (boost) could be there.

If it is there and was used for the races I was in, well, I guess I'm better than I thought I was, even against the AI, which are a walk in the park to win against with stock settings for the cars.
Though, I'm doubtful on being better than I think I am. :odd:

I just Race Modified a '69 Camaro Z 28 which I was planning on using for the Historic Race event. However, at the tuning dection, the game won't let me buy the engine stage 3 kit to it, even though it is available.. has anyone encounter this issue also??

Hey guys I don't know if this is the proper thread to ask my question, but here it goes:
I have a rather old HD-TV which is not capable of 1080p full HD resolution, it can only get to 1080i. My question is should I set it to 1080i, or will I get better video quality if I set it to 720p?
Thanks in advance :)

720p should be better than 1080i... but I'm not so sure, BTW you can always try and see if there's a difference:)

720p = 720 lines being refreshed every refresh cycle.

1080i = 1080 lines, 50% being refreshed every refresh cycle, alternately.

If your Tv can go for 1080, use it. Even if it's not 1080p

On my low-end 32" Sony Bravia HD TV, the 1080i resolution has sharper static text and graphics, however it gets a bit blurry while racing or if there are several dynamic elements on the screen, not to mention the slightly lower framerate performance compared to 720p. In the end, it's all up to your preference, I think. Personally, I prefer better 3D viewport image quality while racing and a more stable framerate.

I play on 1080p, but on another set, I use 1080i (to watch digital Tv) because it looks clearly better to me. But you may be are right about the PS3 and racing, and blur may occur.

The first response is the best advice...
you can always try and see if there's a difference
...and use what you prefer, since this a very old discussion, even on AV forums.

So, you want to read a detailed comparison between the physics engines used in Gran Turismo 5 and forza Motorsport 3? Easy peasey lemon squeezy :sly:

You see, Gran Turismo 5 does things like this, and Forza Motorsport 3 does things like this.

Hope that helps 👍

just what i thought, I just am not in tune with how Forza does this, and also that.

Progressive is better than interlaced so use that always. Interlaced makes things look blurry and was a throwback to the days of analog and crt screens.

Interlaced scanning

Interlaced scan-based images use techniques developed for Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)-based TV monitor displays, made up of 576 visible horizontal lines across a standard TV screen. Interlacing divides these into odd and even lines and then alternately refreshes them at 30 frames per second. The slight delay between odd and even line refreshes creates some distortion or 'jaggedness'. This is because only half the lines keeps up with the moving image while the other half waits to be refreshed.

Progressive scanning

Progressive scanning, as opposed to interlaced, scans the entire picture line by line every sixteenth of a second. In other words, captured images are not split into separate fields like in interlaced scanning. Computer monitors do not need interlace to show the picture on the screen. It puts them on one line at a time in perfect order i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc. so there is virtually no "flickering" effect. As such, in a surveillance application, it can be critical in viewing detail within a moving image such as a person running away. However, a high quality monitor is required to get the best out of this type of scan.

The argument that 1080x1920, 30 frames/sec interlaced (1080I) will give better picture quality than 720x1280, 60 frames/sec progressive (720P) because it has twice as many picture elements (pixels) per frame is the most recent erroneous idea put forth by those who have been pushing the NHK 1125/60 system for years as a world-wide production standard. The earlier arguments all turned out to be incorrect; this new one is but the latest attempt to foist off this obsolete technology on the American broadcasting industry. In fact, the vertical resolution actually achieved in 1080I is lower han that actually achieved in 720P, while the horizontal resolution is considerably less than 1920 pixels, as clearly shown by objective tests carried out at ATTC.

Does anyone have a car i can borrow for the Japanese classic on beginner?I have looked for days in the used car dealership and can't find one.I will do the race and give it back right away if someone would be so kind as to lend me one.

I have a race modified 69 Camaro. After doing the race mod, I did the stage 3 engine tuning. Not sure why you can't...?

You should have already won a Dome Zero Concept 1978. It can be powered to over 300hp with no tire restrictions. B=spec is another story, comfort soft tires required. Bob has some trouble with it. I'm not going to use mine again if you have something to trade. It is fully upgraded.

Check you haven't previously bought the mod, but not installed it.

If you have it, but not installed, it won't let you buy it again. You then just install it through the tuning section in the garage.

I'm probably late with this, but has anybody noticed that when you're looking up the options for the wheels, PD messed up and put TTHRUSTMASTER T500RS

Does anyone know how to switch on mechanical damage? Ever since the update I've been progressing through the game as normal but haven't noticed anything different.

It's online only. You can create your own room in My Lounge if you want to test the damage out. No offline damage yet.

B-Spec Bob has me tearing my hair out in the Monaco Historic race. I got Silver a while ago, but now that I'm level 27 B-Spec and have a level 25 driver with an up arrow, I decided to try again.

Yeah, he's still an idiot. I thought he was getting better, but he's still really stupid on that track. I don't notice it other places, but man, he's dumb. That chicane after the downhill, and then the corner just before the S/F straight, the AI plows into those constantly.

You'd think he'd learn not to pass on the inside there, but no, he still tries. He even hits the inside wall when he's alone. Really? You take such a bad line that you just smack the wall? Here's a Top Gear Top Tip, you can't cut a corner close when it's a wall.

I love how they make the same mistake at the same spot every time. For example at the TG British lightweight race, my guy spun out at the same corner every single lap.

I was really starting to wonder about this. Am almost at lvl 26 and i have yet to break a gearbox or control arm. I just assumed since i just unlocked teh endurance series that it would make more sense for it to be in there. As breaking a gearbox and pitting to change/repair it just works better than in a 5-10 lap race.

However now hearing that it's online only is kind of a let down to be honest.

My dad noticed an error in the Apex book on the release date. In the car list, the picture for the 2004 Z06 is incorrect. It's a C5 (as correctly noted in the text), but the picture is of a C6.

If your bob is as fast as to pressure the #1 car in the race from the start on the AI of the #1 car will run out of strength before the 6. lap. You can switch over to the camera of the #1 car and check his strength. When your bob has more bar leftover than the A.I. he can and will win. That may require a lvl 30+ bob, don't remember, but the 2J fast car (looks like a rocket car somehow) got pressured by my bob and spun out in front of bob just before the finish line. Bob won :) Yey :) Took a while tho ...

I even got Bob to win the first Formula GT race, but I can't repeat it ...

Somehow I get the feeling the B-Spec is actually more about setup than some people thought it would be.
Bob CAN and WILL win even fights, and he CAN win even if he has less HP than the others in the race, because the others are setup non-optimal.

I am gonna write some B-Spec Guide soon ... I really do like it :)

I noticed a mistake in the description of the Honda Insight, it says it has a fuel economy of 999.0L/100km. Doesn't sound right for a hybrid:dopey:
