News Flash... people just love to complain - especially when they aren't held accountable for the 'accuracy' of their comments. Even if the car sounds in any game let alone GT5 were absolutely accurate there would still be countless blogs, forums, threads, posts all ranting about how "horrible" the sounds are. I just try to not fall into their trap, and just enjoy my experience.

this is true, however this isnt really a complaint because there is no reason why some of these sounds were just copied over from the old GT games. Thats just unacceptable considering it took PD 6 years to make the game. I think sound patches should have been flowing in through since the launch of the game.

Was just watching Top Gear where James May, Captain Slow, tested the top speed of the Veyron SS! I want this car in the game! I will pay for this, no issue!

they said it themselves that the standard cars were just basically copied over and the textures were made better, (which I dont believe but ok)

Pretty much sums alot of what I see 👍

@BWX...Glad you like it but...I have had it sounding through my THX Onkyo with 7.1 speakers. Tried many a settings...GT sounds are horrendous, accept it or go listen to some real cars/race cars. GT's range from my dentist drill to a powerful lawn mower. No offense mate, but please, just please...

There are good aspects to GT5, sound is just NOT one of them. Cheers.

I think it sounds better after 2.0. It's not a huge change but I think they tweaked the engine sounds. They sound less digitized to me and are a little more raw. Get another home theater and try again.

Perhaps you are right. Not about my surround system, but about GT5. Perhaps I need to accept GT5 has moved towards the "arcade" side of the scale. Perhaps the sound is just awesome for the arcade audience it now caters to. Perhaps I should stick to a "real driving simulator". Cheers.

my point EXACTLY! If its supposed to be a driving "simulator" why would I have to settle with a few good sounding cars, ALL should be accurate. Especially when it took 6 years to create. It shouldnt be called a driving simulator if it doesnt simulate cars in their entirety. I love he game and the series, but just dont understand why these issues are even issues after all this time.

I think you guys are being a bit over dramatic about the sound issues.

I know they can use a lot of improvement, but they can be a lot worse at the same time.

In any case, what's most important is the physics, and PD has that down...so far...

Sound issue:

You guys know its a dynamic range you can change in the option menu? I don't remember what's default, but I know I changed it and the cars sounds great.. I agree that some cars aren't accurate. But with the Dynamic range limited it will not sound as good as with no limit

It's just done so it will sound somewhat realistic on a TV set of speakers, if you do have a big surround setup, you can change to that and you experience something else.

I was just done driving the 2010 Jaguar XKR (the one with 500+hp- I'm not big on Jaguar). My audio setup is quite simple- using the Audio Out on my TV, I connect my iPod headphone (the white earbuds that came with my iPod Classic circa 2007) using an RCA to mini adaptor. On the PS3XMB Audio setup, I click all the 2.0 audio option and in GT5 I use the small room (default) option.

The sound to me is fine bordering on exceptional with some cars- some cars are better than others but that's how it goes in real life. A Nissan GTR V6 might sound good to some but next to a Porsche flat six, it's always a bit more muddle. So in GT5 I expect a car like the XKR to have a better sound than a Ford Focus and it does.

The great thing about GT5 sound is that you do get different sound from all the different POV- sitting in the cockpit of a production car will obviously sound more muffled (due to sound deadening material and upholstery) than if you were to drive using the 3rd person view (behind the car). In Forza 4, the difference is not as apparent- to me that's a little unrealistic. SHIFT is even worse in that there's only one sound (well, maybe two if you count the replay soundfile).

Also GT5 sound is clean enough that it doesn't distort at high level. The amount of detail is quite good especially with closed in heaphones (including earbuds). With loudspeakers, I find that setup becomes more finicky. Another plus for GT5 is the doppler effect in race cars- Super GT and LMPs. The LMPs I've driven in Forza 4, doesn't provide the effect.

So the bottom line- use headphone. It doesn't have to be expensive but as long as you can get matching impedance to your source which means you'll get the full frequency production as well as the required amplitude (sound level), the sound will be quite good.

GT5 has this thing with delays doesn't it? This sucks..

EDIT: Are you guys pulling our legs? Post a link...:P

Darn, I guess you guys weren't.. any idea why they delayed it? I mean if its ready for Europe and Japan, I don't see a problem..

I hate speculation, but with the announcement of the NFS:The Run demo release tomorrow... mmm, maybe EA Don't want to se more GT5 DLC Downloaded than the NFS Demo

Wrong smiley there but at least you can still join online lobbies hosted by Spa owners.

But when I'm playing (10 pm GMT, 11pm ET) is like 6 am on Europe so not enough lobbies FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!1 ( I really hope something good for the bonus, not paint chips)

PS. At least I can do the nurburgring 4hrs now without get worried about downloading the DLC late

And delaying the dlc for that would imply EA has some sort of leverage over sony/PD. Which, last I checked, they don't.

In fact, it's quite the opposite - a major GT5 patch with DLC on the same day The Run launches would wipe most of the sales, and it's not like a week or so after F4's launch is a brilliant time for a 360 launch, either...
