A "nothing to do question". Is the older updates still active to download?

yes, they are, but you can't specifically tell it update to a version prior to 2.01 (as of today's version). They're only there so that the patches can be installed in order to get to the latest patch.

For example, when gifting items, after each gift you send you stay in that same menu - as you should, but if you gift a museum card it sends you all the way back to the Community menu, and as you mentioned, if you buy a car it sends you back to the main GT menu. Now for those who want to change the oil to get the boost in power, this is a good thing, but then again, this really should be a choice that the player should get to make.

We should also have an option to change oil/wash multiple cars, straight from the [GARAGE] menu.
It is vey annoying to have to:
Load garage, Select the car in the garage, Exit garage, Load GT Auto, Select oil change, Watch stupid long animation, Confirm, Select wash car, Watch another stupid long animation, Confirm, Exit GT Auto.

These japanese are sadistic to make us go through all this.

Because of that I just dont mind changing the oil of Used Cars I buy until I really use them. But even like this, it is f** painful process...

Nothing new for days? I was hoping for some news regarding the release of the next batch of DLC sometime soon. It has to be soon and my money is on a few packs arriving in time for Christmas for the big cash in.

I'd be guessing something is in the works for the 1 year. Maybe DLC then a 1 year?

I would be blown away if the GT4 tracks and A-Spec events were made available as a 1 year anniversary celebration DLC pack. I might be clutching at straws but at least they are delicious straws.

-> Hmm, its SEMA week today. I wonder which car will win the GT Awards this year, I hope its the V8-powered Genesis Coupe RM500.

Bro you're a cool dude, but this post is making you start to sound like most of the complainers on the front page. I relise there are certain cars we would like to see in the game (Including me), but this sort of thinking is not necessary.

-> I'm not stating my post as a request like my other thread VWL. I'm just wondering...thats all, since PD does this GT Awards @ SEMA every year. But I'm rooting for the RM500 (on which that is an off-topic debacle). ;)

Ok then, the Rolling eyes had me thinking otherwise.

New seasonal events TT Eiger K trail 345HP and 1200kg dirt tires, European Non race car Eiger 295 1200kg SM tires or less 👍

For the first time, I won one of the Top Gear Special Events. I was simply trying to do a sample race just to take some pictures and add to my Gran Turismo blog when suddenly... I finally won! I cleared the Gran Turismo SambaBus Challenge with gold. Even more so, I won the race in just one try! That is a strange thing about me- when I try to win something, I don't do as well as I could. But when I try to do something casually and not be real serious, I end up winning or do very well. Story of my life. My previous best finish with the SambaBus Challenge was 2nd.

Anyhow, I'm pleased to win this one!

Nicely done! I remember when I first got Gold on this, in my opinion easiest of the three. The key is late braking (the AI brake really early if I remember), or even no braking as you only ever go ~50mph into a corner. Don't hit the AI too hard though or you'll fail. Also, drafting is key, as it increases top speed just enough that you'll win. Can't remember exactly but I think in the end I won by around 3 seconds over 2nd.

As for the Elise 111R one, that is a nightmare due to the compulsory CH tyres as you're either too slow from using too many aids to control the car from the loss of tyre grip, or you spin regardless of your actions. Stupid race that I came 3rd at best in (Silver Award). :grumpy:

Is there anyone who knows the cars are nominated for the SEMA GT Award this year? I read something about a Porsche (!) and a 66 Mustang :S

The little that we know is being discussed in this thread.

So far, though, the Mustang and the Porsche are the only finalists that are confirmed. I've been scouring google for the past half hour to try to find the other 3 (or more?) but I'm coming up empty handed.

GT5 INFORMATION
Maintenance Notice
Last Updated: Nov 04, 2011Share The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

Start: 11/17/2011 07:00 GMT
Finish: 11/17/2011 11:00 GMT

During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.

*Please note that the exact times of the maintenance may slightly vary.

EDIT: Since no one else seems to be in a speculation type mode, i'm gonna come right out and say it. I hope this will be a patch which will include real cars and more tracks that will be unlocked via DLC which will become available on the 1 year anniversary of GT5 (24th November).

While there's certainly reason to believe that things will get updated come November, there's no concrete evidence pointing to such things happening. So it's best to temper expectations since they've done online maintenance in the past and nothing cool came of it.

Also, on a SEMA Related note: I'm seriously surprised at the fact that out of the thousands of people at SEMA, none of them have bothered even mentioning all of the nominee's of the GT award tonight. Let alone who won the GT Award. I'll need to wake up bright and early tomorrow to hopefully find out I guess.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that wild idea of yours because chances are; you're probably gonna be very disappointed.

I've been dissapointed before and am by no means expecting all that, but it would be nice...

Thanks Kaz -.-

For me best in Show was the Porsche and not the 5th Muscle Car Winner... We already have around 10 camaros, that's enough...
