It's a lost cause Simon, I pointed the same thing out 7 posts above and yet they continue on.:dunce:

Yeah, I see what you're talking about. I'm sure these aren't the set times for the official tests.

Something I'm wondering, if you miss a week of tests, will you be able to go back and take 'em. Or will it be like time trials, where they're only up for a set amount of time?

Can't wait for the demo! Obviously I'm not old enough to compete, but it should be fun. I wonder if we'll unlock silverstone

So if I'm in Canada, will I be able to download the competition? I know I won't be able to compete but I would still like to try out the challenges.

Likewise.

I don't want to get disappointed so I'm not going to expect too much although I can't wait to see what PD will bring out.

Don't think age will apply until you get pass the gaming stages. Still should be able to download nevertheless.

I thought GT Academy was a waste of time and resources,as only one person benefits from it. But this time it looks like they've made it more accessible and we will get some new content for GT5.

But why was the March update postponed? Its nearly May.
Is there any Forza 4 DLC coming soon? They'll probably release something then.

Guess thats pretty accurate as GT Academy ends on the 26th on one of those screenshots..

Dont know why they're still competing with Forza this late into the release.

They don't compete actually.
Spec 2 release was a pure coincidence on Forzas release date. 8^)

To appease internet forum goers similar to what can be found here at GTPlanet. I am sure they read posts that offer reasonable criticism.

Based on what I have seen Forza 4 sales will come nowhere near GT5 sales so I doubt PDI is concerned with that.

No. Competitions are fun. People find benefit from competing.

Wouldn't they have stopped after the first GT Academy if it was a waste of time?

Someone will say it's JUST for the money (what isn't?) even though GT Academy is part of Kaz's vision.

Last week, GT5 was 80k copies sold ahead of FM4 this year. The week before that it was 60k. This week it's 90k ahead for THIS YEAR.

VGChartz has it just about the same amount of copies sold as it is on here

The PD site last updated the numbers in Dec. 2011.

It's not a waste of time, it's marketing gold - it furthers the idea that GT5 can suddenly turn a gamer into a pro racer :).

Oh great. Sales figures again.

I can't help but laugh every time someone talks about "Kaz's vision". If his vision means more bizzare design decisions (paint chips, collecting horns, etc.) seen in GT5, then I can't take it seriously.

C'mon, you've got to put in a few hundred yellow paint hues to make a game a real simulator. It's not as if we need tire pressures or anything, right?

It's just a very blurry vision and sometimes he has to take a stab at what he thinks he's seeing. Like those game show games where the contestant has to shout out what they think the picture is as it's changing from foggy to clear before the other contestants do the same. Problem is once KY shouts out the 'vision' he has to go with it, even if it's broken and will delay the game by years.

Sales figures sure bothers some people doesn't it? In fact, I am positive Turn 10 and MS are annoyed by it.

Or... perhaps I can go on about things such as the shadows and the trees. Is that more of an acceptable "discussion" for you? Topics such as these are rinsed and repeated with great passion here.

Someone was asking for it.

So yes, goody.

I know "proof" isn't needed, because all you've been doing is replying to everything I say to make me/others look stupid, but I'll just Quote why I think it was part of Kaz's vision for the car world. He first made GT for that reason.

IGN: What are your thoughts about the fact that those drivers like Bryan Heitkotter played your game and is now a real Nissan professional racecar driver with two races already under his belt all based on your simulation?

Kazunori Yamauchi: It's really a big dream come true for myself, actually. When I created the first Gran Turismo I knew that one day a driver that learned how to drive on Gran Turismo would become a racecar driver. And it really did come true.

Have you ever been beaten on Gran Turismo by a teenager?
[Laughs] Actually, on GT Academy qualifying I was ranked at around 80th place on the UK charts, so there are loads of youngsters I can't beat anymore.

How do you prefer to play Gran Turismo - steering wheel or joypad?
If you have enough space, using a steering wheel is definitely better for honing your driving skills. If you want to learn how to drive well, get a steering wheel. However, at work I play with a steering wheel but I go home and play with a joypad.

Why did GT Academy start?
I wanted to prove you can learn real driving skills from playing Gran Turismo.

I don't see why defending GT on a GT fansite is comical, Muonalkitiyk.
