I don't care about Midfield. I'm more concerned about the changes they made to GVS:

GT3 Version:

GT4 Version:

See how turn 6 and 7 have been ruined. In GT3 they were nice and curved, but were changed into multi-apex corners for GT4.

What isn't clear by those images aswell, is that the 2 tight hairpins towards the end of the lap have been widened in the GT4 version, and the grass on the exit has been paved over.

Its the same sort of changes being made to 'modernise' circuits in real life, that often makes the tracks worse.

Hopefully this track will be in GT5 and that they returned it to the old layout.

Maybe as with the Fuji variations, we could get the same treatment to these classic tracks, so there's more variety and everyone is happy?

-> ...
Oh why the Kaz did they change it :(
^ Only God/Allah/Diyos knows. :(

Wow, I didn't know that. After all the times I've played Midfield on GT2 and GT4 as well.

I feel so ashamed :sly:
^ Don't be. It just happens that you honestly forgotten about it. I still do play GT1/2 and 4. ;)

I LOVE those two huge sweeping turns in Midfield. I am DYING to drift them in GT5
^ Yup, the GT2/3 version was a drifter's paradise. :sly:

^ Yo dude, you forgot the GVS '90s (aka. GT1/2 version):

^ Overall the GT1/2 version was a lot tougher compared to the GT3 version due to the last S-corner (tighter & narrower). :)

The thing is about the whole paving over the exit of that hairpin is that any time trial videos i have watched, people just cut across the corners as if the race track isn't even there, and they don't get penalised for it. I'm kind of hoping that the lap becomes invalid or something similar for GT5. Also i'm hoping that Midfield comes back!

I have to disagree with you guys on this.

I prefer the GT4 versions of both Midfield and Grand Valley Speedway, both for drifting and racing. The problem is more with the physics changes than the track changes. If you could use the GT4 versions of the tracks with GT3 physics, I don't think you'd be complaining as much. The newer versions have much more challenging (which I think is important), rewarding, and aesthetically pleasing areas, especially for drifting. It just became much more challenging to get around those areas because of the huge difference in physics (understeer anyone?).

That's my take anyway...

;)

I have to wonder how much road we're going to get. How many kilometers, or miles, of tarmac? The track count is no doubt a little worrying, as, to me, the proliferation of tracks is as important as the proliferation of cars. But, if some of the fantasy tracks, or even possibly some of the city courses, offer up a lot more options than they did in the past, then we could still end up with more road than we expected, even with the low-ish track count we're being told now. Of course, open an open cityscape, with the ability to lay down barriers would be an ideal way to incorporate a livery editor, and to create more drivable variations.

Midfield was awesome one of my fav's.

I remember noting the difference between the GT3 and GT4 versions of GVS and recall the GT4 version being a bit more challenging, which kind annoyed me at first like I had to learn how to attack the changed bits all over again.

But I liked Midfield more in GT4 like Delphic.

As Tenacious D said, offering the different variations of such tracks would be nice.

Which is why this is such a good idea:

So those corners became wider progressively with each game? All I know is that the GT4 track was easier than the GT3 version, which is kind of why I didn't like it.

Agree with you!!! Thanks to delay we will have more car's, circuit and content and THAT can be bad, that will made game even better!!!!!!!!

I know that!! But if game is now finished what PD will do until release date??? They probbable will put some extra cars and track...💡

I don't think that's how it's working. There's a problem with the game that caused the delay, they will be working on this... that's if they didn't lie because of 3D, Move and all that.

True. All that people is doing at the moment is speculating. In the end, the game may be released with nothing new, yet some people will say "they added the Lamborghini Reventón thanks to the delay!" (if the Lamborghini Reventón hasn't been confirmed already).

Something like that will happen anyways, no escaping it.

No thanks. I would rather have different tracks, rather than a bunch of variations. We would end up with a similar situation to the Miatas in GT4. Way too many versions of the same car, with little to no difference.

That being said, make it DLC and it's a deal. 👍

:odd:

I would say the opposite, which is why I like it. The GT3 versions are much more open and sweeping in comparison.

I have to agree there. I found GT3 versions easier too.

Given Formula One 2010 from Codemasters will release in September, and they announced it in March, I would guess GT5 will not release the same month, or even in October. Either GT5 is released earlier, which is highly unlikely, Split Second + Blur releasing in May, or it will release in November/December. Heh, if not later...

like i said before, I think sony is waiting for their 3d tvs to hit the market and then release gt5- around june or july, i wouldn't see why not. the summer is a good time to buy because kids are off of school. and a lot of the players for gt series are younger than 18. they have a big market for older than 18 but younger players exist also. I think it'll be released in the summer. If not then around black friday

I must say, I much prefer the GT4 version of Grand Valley, the double apex section is great fun to take at speed, in fact, that sector is the best part of the track.

For me the minor changes made to Grand Valley Speedway didn't impact on the track, it's still one of my favourite tracks in Gran Turismo.:D Well, THE favourite track actually, unless some Australian tracks get in.

The best way in my opinion would be to give all variations from all games into GT5. Some people might say it's just tiny differences but I think it could be pretty damn cool to have all variations :D

And I really don't know why you guys love so much fantasy tracks...:yuck:

Usually i would agree, real world tracks are great fun to drive. But the fantasy tracks in Gran Turismo have a kind of history behind them, some of them have been there from the start and been in each installement, so it's always nice to see an old friend return.

Trial Mountain (though moreso the Reverse version) is hands-down the best track in the real or virtual world.
