The, ahem, Double 6?? Is that why it has 1,2,3,4(!) cylinders and "DOHC 16V" embossed on the engine...? :sly:

Thats a picture of my engine. Analog's strange sepia tinted car is the one we're trying to guess. And its frustrating!!!

You know i'm half tempted to say Alfa, but i'm clutching at straws :( and totally wrong

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. While Trial Mountain is a good track, I'd have to go with the Nordschleife, despite it being the obvious choice.

And despite not being a track. It's a public, one-way, limit-free toll road.

And analog's car is a Monteverdi High Speed.

But that it's not because they are fantasy tracks, it's because their layout doesn't flow in my opinion. A real life track I'd put on the same level is Virgina International Raceway - that's not a track, it's a piece of tarmac laid down on the ground by someone who was drunk. Nothing on that track makes sense.

I would concede that a track has Midfield does flow in the most of it, but the track is a little bit 'sterile', too simple...

See we disagree on this. Laguna Seca IMO does flow very well on the location it sits. The downhill main straight ending in Andretti's hairpin. The two left-handed corners that lead you uphill and the challenging corkscrew, and the fast downhill section from there until the tight left corner leading you to the main straight. I concede although it lacks in variety and it's a little bit too short if you ask me.

HAHAHA I have to agree with you about VIR. It's almost like a go-cart track or something. Just a wacky layout.

As for Midfield, it IS simple, but I think that's the idea. There aren't many real world tracks that are easy for beginners yet still give experienced drivers a chance to really try and perfect technique around some standard corner types.

I always thought that Apricot Hill had a lot in common with Suzuka, although Suzuka was more fun. AH has a good amount of corners that look easy but are also easy to get wrong (like Suzuka), and they both have that really annoying tight chicane right before a sweeping corner and a long start/finish straight.

But to be honest, we all know the worst track in GT4 was the fantasy/real city one in Korea...

It's a DeTomaso Longchamp/Maserati Kyalami

Oooh good shout! I thought i remembered an italian car manufacturer making a stupidly oversized monstrousity but couldn't remember which one. I think you win

Not to get into wishlisting but id rather have more real life circuits(gilles V., spa, bathurst) as opposed to fictional, the Original Circuits in GT4 had a bit of a gamey feel.

This, equals this: 👍

No, same country though.

It's a DeTomaso Longchamp/Maserati Kyalami

No, but extremely close.............

And analog's car is a Monteverdi High Speed.

No, but the same sort of category.

And no Captain Roh it isn't a Quattroporte........( at least it isn't its name although literally, the meaning of the word quattroporte, it is ).

And zvijer, it isn't an Interceptor either.

Not sure GT5 will be hold back for a few arcade racers and F1 2010 being released somewhat simultaneously as it will probably steal their thunder and apart from the F1 game perhaps, it is not aimed at the same target group ( not meaning people can't love all these games, btw ).
And maybe i'm wrong but 3D isn't yet confirmed, only rumoured, for GT5 isn't it?

As far as i know, im quite sure it is confirmed, though i can't find info right now. Nevertheless, it would be strategic smart of SONY to release 2 versions of the game, a normal and a 3D. Thos willing to buy a 3D TV will most likely not hesitate to spend the extra amount on the game anyways. If the 3D is released later than standard version, they will most likely get a few extra copys sold that way. So i do not see GT5 on 3D (or not) as a certain postponing, or early release.

And even though GT5 is the biggest seller of the lot, i would be amazed if SONY don't have some sort of plan with release. That plan will include release of other games, as one part. There is a lot to gain to time a release right, and im confident SONY know their stuff.

I wasn´t planning to go in further details because I didn't think thart was necessary, since I was expressing a personal opinion - I don't like fantasy tracks, and I somewhat failed to see what is appealing on these tracks and their layout.

On the VIR- it doesn't make sense until you've actually driven the real track which unfortunately I haven't but even in a proper sim- ie. iRacing's version of the track you can sense how great the track actually is. It's nothing more than a great roller coster ride along with that sinking feeling in your stomach.

I almost  until I realised the assumption you made. Kinda' like making a post to tell somebody they mady a typo, while making a typo yourself.

He didn't actually say that Nordschleife was a track, he simply referred to it as "the Nordschleife". However he referred to Trial Mountain previously is irrelevant.

Original post, to which he was responding:

Famine
Trial Mountain (though moreso the Reverse version) is hands-down the best track in the real or virtual world.

mady a typo

Oh, snap.

Analogs car could be a Maserati 222, 425, 430, 4.24. They make a few cars that share a similar style.

:cheers:BINGO:lol:👍 I will change it now and add your name to the list.

A visual variation of my game, I see. :sly:

But just to warn you, the mods sometimes get annoyed when the guesses fill up other threads. Hello, Famine. Hello, Private Message.

So people now post their guesses on my "wall". Works out pretty well. Actually, really well. Though some guesses slip onto the boards, I don't think it is too disruptive. Because it only takes a second to redirect them elsewhere.

Original post, to which he was responding:
So quote the original post where he calls it a track as well, rather than leave it to guess work, because right above where you implied he called Nordschleife a track, he clearly did not.

Oh, snap.
I would say touché, but because I wasn't actaully making a post to tell you that you had made a typo, I don't feel it's necessary. But, thanks for spotting that genuine one.

👍

Wonder why it vanished.

Been wondering that for like 9 years now :grumpy: Grindelwald and Red Rock Valley (if I remember the name correctly) were my fav tracks in GT2.

Jerome

Grindlewald would be similar to Eiger. It would be a neat drifting track (though I dislike drift). But Grindlewald is more fun for the fact that there is more room to hit higher speeds. Would be a neat re-addition to the series.

As for Red Rock Valley. Just an awesome speed course. But it would need a huge facelift from the good ol' PSOne era. It could look so good in HD.

Sorry it is indeed quite similar, hope you don't mind, and you're probably right about clotting the threads but since there isn't much to discuss anyway i didn't think it would be harmful and didn't expect it to get noticed ( the game ) much in the first place.
But if the mods think otherwise i will change it to suggest the guessed cars on my own page.:)

No offense taken. I started doing it because of the lack of news, lack of "unity", and excess of boredom. The more distractions the better. I only "warned" you because my butt was slapped by Famine. Felt nice, though. I bet he liked it too!👍:)

Anyways, keep it up. Keep the forums fun, because it's been anything but that for some time with the lack of news.

Wahoo!! :dopey: I win.. Took a while to get there but we managed it ;)
Better get back on topic for a little while though, so err GT5, yeah,.. that should be an alright game hey 👍

Damn, I wanted to get in there with a Pininfarina Ferrari Modulo Concept?

Although on topic: The guy in Blockbuster was trying to get me to pre-order GT5 (£2 deposit), I said its not out for ages, he says its out at the end of the month, I say no it isn't, he says it is, he's even had the posters and stuff... I says he's lying.. he says he isn't. In the end I said I was going to burn the shop down if I turned up and it wasn't there.. he still insisted it was out... I left it at that...... now I'm off to the petrol station.

Haha I guess those guys will tell you anything to make you put down a deposit for the game. Either that or he has been ill-informed.

:cheers:BINGO again:tup:, i will change the picture soon and will redirect anyone's suggestions to my visitor's page before it does indeed go too much off-topic.:scared:

Edit; picture changed, name added and suggestions, hopefully, redirected.
